To ask what’s that lovely washing powder you all use?!

Lol, very random I know but I’ve realised a lot of the time if I’ve bought clothes off Vinted, they all smell of the same, lovely smelling washing powder.

We use Fairy non bio all the time which really doesn’t smell of much and there’s never a smell on the clothes after they’re dry.

Bought a bundle off Vinted which I’ve just collected and it all smells of that same lovely washing powder. It’s very popular as I smell it a lot.

Soooo, does anyone know which one I mean? It’s definitely not fairy non bio that’s for sure!

Ariel or person bio! Depends what’s on offer.

tinyspiny · 28/09/2025 12:40

I use Ariel powder and I like the smell .

RosesAndHellebores · 28/09/2025 12:40

Persil non bio. Anything else gives us a rash. I bought some Waitrose non bio recently. DH got a rash.

TrimayrAcademy · 28/09/2025 12:42

I change my washing stuff every time it runs out otherwise you quickly get use to the smell. I actually get quite excited on new laundry day picking out the scent I want to use and getting the whole matching set - yes I know I need to get a life.

ivegotthisyeah · 28/09/2025 12:46

I rotate mine as as someone else says you gets used to the smell so it’s not as obvious to you

TheCurious0range · 28/09/2025 12:49

I am allergic to a lot of washing detergent especially powders and the only scented ones I've found I can use are ecover and m&s white tea and jasmine non bio liquids.
I quite often get comments that I smell nice when I'm not wearing perfume so assume it's probably the washing stuff

Sloelydoesit · 28/09/2025 12:54

Co op own brand bio liquid. Bought it once as an emergency buy and now buy it all the time. Smells great

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/09/2025 12:58

Oh god not the awful artificially smelling stuff that a lot of clothes come smelling of from vinted? That takes me several washes to get rid of?

Please don’t join the ranks of people going out and sending their children out smelling like that, it makes me gag.

I use ecover products. Lovely, mild, non artificial smelling.

ChristmasFluff · 28/09/2025 12:58

I always used Tesco non-bio powder, which to me smells of nothing. Until I was given Co-Op non-bio gel, which has quite a strong fragrance in comparison. When I went back to Tesco non-bio powder I could smell it again. It's a fresher smell, but I like both and so now I alternate.

A spoonful of oxy powder in the drum really makes the fabric sifter smell last

Email them and ask them. This way you get the correct answer. PS I've never had anything that smells that great!

Oops forgot this is mumsnet. Its weird to like the smell of clean laundry, it makes every normal sane person gag and its disgusting to make your children smell nice. What a sad demographic this website has. I pity many of them

Poppy123xyz · 28/09/2025 13:01

I use smol, its posted to you. But its the fabirc conditioner that matters

AliTheMinx · 28/09/2025 13:03

I think it would be the Outdoorsable fabric softener. I love it!

NewDayNewColour · 28/09/2025 13:06

Tallow + Ash do some gorgeous scents

SusanChurchouse · 28/09/2025 13:09

I use the Ecover pods as I like the smell and they’re certified cruelty free. I have sensitive skin but find it’s the perfumes that irritate me rather than the enzymes so I tend to use the Bio version.

But clean doesn't smell of anything except fresh air when you line dry.

We normally get Costco own brand non bio which doesn't seem to smell of anything but they didn't have it once so got Persil non bio instead, which was a big mistake as it fucking stinks and we had to put up with it for months on end because it was a massive Costco bottle.

Squishydishy · 28/09/2025 13:12

Persil bio for everything in our house, even the toddler and baby. Smells clean and minty

Sanguinello · 28/09/2025 13:14

Daz used to smell lovely until fairly recently and was reasonably priced. It's now expensive and doesn't smell of much.

ThatRareLimeFinch · 28/09/2025 13:14

im a MN heathen

i love my washing to smell of stuff! i hate when it doesnt come out with a smell. to me, its not 'clean'. i know it is but if it doesnt smell it just isnt right to me

2 surf wash pods, and 2 caps of the yellow, golden orchid scent boosters. never use fabric softener, i dont like the texture it leaves on clothes, plus we have a lot of dri-fit stuff that it cant be used for

Mary46 · 28/09/2025 13:18

Persil or Daz here. Lidl good too. Clothes smell nice too

Are they worth it? I keep seeing their ads pop up a lot on social media.

Also Tallow + Ash, the date night one smells amazing.

Blabla81 · 28/09/2025 13:32

Fairy Cherry Blossom and Nordic Cotton fabric softener is by far my favourite at the moment. Much cheaper to buy in B&M compared to tesco (haven’t been able to find it in many other supermarkets).
Otherwise I just Ariel Colour pods.

Zippedydodah · 28/09/2025 13:34

Tallow and Ash are very synthetic and unpleasant smelling, they actually made me feel sick so I binned them. They’re incredibly strong and overpowering.
