Sick of the lie 'It's just illegal immigrants people don't like.'

This is just not true.

Reform, the flag flyers and protesters are racists. All of this 'It's just the illegals we want gone.' is a lie to excuse their racism.

We spend more per person arriving. There’s greater provision here than in many of those places listed.

Or maybe you'd expect our actual trained army to defend us? And our allies to support us?

I truly don't understand the viewpoint that Bob from accounting is going to become an adept soldier because his country has been invaded. Bob from accounting is a useful human shield but more likely - a liability in combat.

War today isn't fought on the battlefield with rules of engagement. It's air strikes and drone targeting. Snipers and technology. It's not walls of people with guns marching towards one another on a field.

Actually many of these countries from which people are fleeing are not that evolved with war technology.

Men from our country and across western civilisation, inc Bob from accounting, are conscripted and have had to fight in many wars to defend our way of life. Look at what happened in Ukraine- it was the women and children seeking refuge, the men stayed and fought in various capacities.

The reason our country is as it is is we have, during our history stood up against tyranny, evil and discrimination. People should be slighting out their own countries, some of the money we spend on immigration could be put towards helping them.

That would be quite funny if it wasn't so ridiculous. Have you noticed the rather high body count in Ukraine? And how tiny our army is.I'd hope we'd put up a bit of a fight rather than lie down and be raped by invading soldiers? The British do stick up for themselves eventually.

Or perhaps it will be a sectarian civil war the rate we are going.

You lost me here.

Should all the Jews should have stayed and fought the Nazis...?

The idea that everyone will stay and fight is removed from all evidence of human nature and what our survival imperatives are. But sure, judge people for being human.

I have every admiration for everyone who fights in war - those who signed up and those who were conscripted. But I can also totally understand why so many fled. This also happened.

Judging people for wanting to live is the utmost in privilege.

I think youre being very judgy here. I am an immigrant and see the amount of migration being an issue. The fact that these people can’t voice their concerns without being labelled racist is worrying for democracy.

You won't live long though if no one is going to bother to defend those that can't be bothered to try and defend themselves because their life is more "important". At least there was chat about some National Service training which was a start.

I don't think anyone is racist. Issues are legitimate.

We can have all the policies in the world to deport them but it won't stop them coming.

We want to bomb countries without consequence. Stop foreign aid to look after our own.

And then flick away the people who turn up at our borders affected by wars we endorse or fed hope by smugglers.

Flick away. Just be aware, it won't stop them coming back.

Because they are just people. The issues that bring them here aren't going away.

Well we don't have to let them in. Houses have doors and countries are (supposed to) have borders.

After World War II the UK played an instrumental role in writing human rights law. Millions of Jewish people needed safe passage and didn't get it.

Countries said never again... yet here we are. Many people (Reform) wanting to rip up Human Rights Laws. Leave the EHCR.

So what if we do? Great, Reform are in and we've left the EHCR. Abandoned our human rights laws.

A boat crosses the Chanel! Turned it back to France. The boat came back the next day. Turned it back. The boat came back the next day. The Chanel is littered with dead bodies.

Ok, this isn't working. Let's collect the people, presume none of them are legitimate and send them "away". Out of sight, out of mind. Maybe some of them die - they should have stayed and fought, fleeing war is cowardice. We, as a nation, don't believe all humans have rights (just British Citizens).

The boats will keep coming and coming... because war still exists and the smugglers haven't been stopped. But that's ok - we don't have to see them. They arrive and disappear.

I'd love a government that talked about return agreements, a task force to stop smugglers, a more efficient processing system. I personally don't want to live in a world where only a select few have human rights.

I've stopped using the terms far right, racist and fascist, because it just shuts people down straight away ( even if I think they are) I refer to those people as Bullies. People who choose to bully other people because of some difference. I find people can get their heads around that without getting defensive. There's a greater willingness to concede and consider alternative opinions/ facts if they think they might be seen as a bully.
I also drop into most conversations the question "what percentage of the UK population is Muslim?" Just to be able to tell them it's just 6%. And in Wales where I live it's just 2%..
I've never yet had anyone not be shocked at how much less it is than they thought. Then I just let that simmer....

Yes, it’s fascinating. Just 6% of the population but they have Keir Starmer and ministers tying themselves in knots to appease them. Jess Phillips attempting to derail the inquiry into Pakistani rape gangs etc. How many ministers are beholden to such a tiny minority and why?

I'm talking specifically about illegal immigrants.

Immigration itself is an entirely different issue. I believe all concerns are legitimate and it's an important discussion to have. But that is a different topic than this one - which is specifically about illegal immigration - its costs and causes and it being blamed for every problem!

I think the world has changed and the country has had enough and is fed up of the waffle. Leave any international convention that is preventing our own laws from applying. Laws made by a government that we (sort of) elected. The UK doesn't need decisions made for it by European judges. It's a fair and decent country. It just needs to act in its own interests for once not the interests of the diaspora of the world.

Or the outcome is as it is for Australia and people stop trying, no more deaths in the way and all of the electorate are happy enough not to ever reverse the policies.

European judges don't make our decisions.

We have our own laws.

Countries without human rights laws are Russia, Saudi, North Korea, and of that ilk. Great and reliable allies.

Sounds like you'd be happy leaving the EHCR and global human rights treaties (and quite fine losing your own Human Rights as a result - because that's what will happen in reality) to get illegals out of sight and out of mind.

Our courts are required to interpret our legislation in accordance with the ECHR. We need to get rid of that and the Human Rights Act. And no. We arr unlikely to lose our own "human rights" whatever they are. We are a grown up country and can apply our own laws. We invented most of the main ones needed for freedom anyway nearly a thousand years ago. We don't need an international convention to control us. We won't turn into North Korea if we have to run ourselves. Are you really so down on the UK?

It really doesn’t have to be this. Australia is happy with its policies.
