Sick of the lie 'It's just illegal immigrants people don't like.'

Slightyamusedandsilly · 26/09/2025 22:08

This is just not true.

Reform, the flag flyers and protesters are racists. All of this 'It's just the illegals we want gone.' is a lie to excuse their racism.

People are allowed to dislike the speed and scale at which their culture and communities have changed. You can’t force people to like these things, you know.

Yeh I’ve noticed that alcohol has been banned, girls are being forced to dress modestly and some chap is insisting I pray 5 times a day. That’s obviously what you’re talking about. I mean if that’s not happening you’d obviously be talking nonsense. Surely not?

Midnightlove · 29/09/2025 01:31

It's a bit of both I'm sure, but you can't say everyone that protests against illegal immigration hates all migrants. I certainly don't object to anyone that comes here legally and contributes while making a life for themselves, I do however object to illegal immigration of huge amounts of unknown men!

Some people are just past caring about the name calling.

Exactly, it's been thrown around so much it's now meaningless

I've stopped using the terms far right, racist and fascist, because it just shuts people down straight away ( even if I think they are) I refer to those people as Bullies. People who choose to bully other people because of some difference. I find people can get their heads around that without getting defensive. There's a greater willingness to concede and consider alternative opinions/ facts if they think they might be seen as a bully.
I also drop into most conversations the question "what percentage of the UK population is Muslim?" Just to be able to tell them it's just 6%. And in Wales where I live it's just 2%..
I've never yet had anyone not be shocked at how much less it is than they thought. Then I just let that simmer....

Yes but the 2% or 6% figure being a surprise is always interesting. Why is it a surprise? Because this culture and religion are overepresented. They make up more than 6% of governance and positions of power like mayor for example. They far, far exceed those percentages in terms of proportion of representation in television and advertising. They make up roughly 45% of the people featured in NHS leaflets for example. Their impact on cultural changes in britian exceeds 2% or 6% by a long way.

Hi Honish,

Younday Muslims are featured on 45% of NHS leaflets - could you share the link for this?

Ive read it. You can see how the leadership of charities have been captured by people with a particular agenda. Greenpeace is a political group for a start

There's no balance in that letter. No real attempt to acknowledge the views and concerns of the majority of people in this country looking at the polls. Once again their opinion is ignored. We need to let in everyone in need in the world who wants to come here and taxpayers just have to lump it and cough up.

That's not what the letter is saying.

And also are you lumping all immigrants into one box and suggesting that immigrants must support this letter? Or that they cannot be on the side of the views of the majority here re immigration? My mother is in immigrant. She wholeheartedly is on the side of the majority in this country.

And if you're not saying that obviously then your comment is irrelevant.

Almost 400,000 were on student visas, so I’d imagine they’d be mostly living in the very many student accommodation high-rise blocks that have been thrown up in recent years.

Given that so many international students are here for a one year MA used to bring family members (until the Conservatives mostly stopped that, but those on higher quals and some other exceptions can still bring family), there are a number who aren't. Some international BA students tend to be wealthier and prefer private accommodation to student halls.

There are still a significant number who will remain after study, either on a grad route or Skilled Worker Visa. Those on the Skilled Worker Visa are often going in to work which is well below their qualification level, as this is seen as a route to permanent residence and bringing families. It's really quite telling that, before the rules on bringing families changed, over half of international graduates who stayed in the UK did so as care workers, but this number decreased after.

They still need somewhere to live.

Desdemonadryeyes · 26/09/2025 22:23

No problem with anyone coming here to work.

It’s the boat migrants that concern me.

And all the reasons people want to come here rather than stay in France.

And the mass emigration from countries who need these people to improve their own economies.

And the traffickers who make so much money.

The list is endless.

You’d probably call me racist.

My theory is it’s actually about class when you peel it all back.

and these co living / student blocks … for some time they have been seen as a great investment opportunity - situated mainly in urban areas, however. There is a saturation now of these blocks in some cities - and these blocks are going to be very costly to renovate into normal apartments. Maybe there is a market for one bedroom / shared lounges and bathrooms etc for non students in a housing crisis but these blocks seem to be on way in next decade to become outdated and in need of conversion.

What speed? Communities have been changing al my life. It's rarely if ever something that happens overnight. I think this is just one of those mantras that Farage comes up with, and people have accepted it without realising he is literally making it up.

Maybe they’ve been changing all your life but don’t make the very limited view point that what is true for you is true for all.

usernamealreadytaken · 29/09/2025 12:30

100%

we’ve all KNOWN it’s not ok to be racist for decades now, there’s the campaigns at football and sporting events, the slogans, report any antisocial behaviour systems in place, taking the knee etc etc but STILL racists are being raised.

in some ways we are making more inroads to stopping discrimination against women than we are racism. Sure toxic masculinity is still a threat, and we have to keep pushing the agenda for equality, but blaming others for your own worries just because they’re from somewhere else is just stupid.

all these protests at the hotels where these asylum seekers are being held? Why? What are they going to do about their situation?

the problem needs to be stopped IN EUROPE, before it gets to our channel.

in Brexit times, it was shown that those areas with high levels of multicultural diversity voted REMAIN, those with low diversity were told that all the woes of their lives were caused by forriners and they voted LEAVE

we all know that somehow this decision has cost our economy greatly.

and it’s still the fault of “others”

Farage/the Mail/GB News and all the others whipping the ignorant or intellectually lazy into a frenzy here are killing our nation. Putin is LOVING this. The micro-dicked napoleon can’t rise or grow so he seeks to destroy everything around him so that he looks better.

I think your assumptions around voting for Remain/Leave are a little incorrect. Those in wealthy areas surrounded by immigrants who contribute and integrate were more likely to vote to Remain. Those in poorer areas with high immigration levels of people who live in siloed communities with little integration and contribution, who just see their lot getting progressively worse, were more likely to vote to Leave.

Once again, the wealthy blaming the poor for wanting a say in their own lives.

Don't get me started on Russian interference, when Russia actively encourages the Green agenda in order to make countries less energy-secure and more reliant on imported fossil fuels, not to mention strengthening Russia's economy with cheaper energy.

Hi, agree with you on Brexit voters and demographics - it’s was when look at voter data quite a mixed bag. voters who went for Leave were from many different backgrounds - upper class, middle class, working class - across all different wards/ constituencies. I do find people aligning concern on immigration or leave voters with people who are working class (and often there is some insults - calling people uneducated or whatnot), really actually classist. I also find people using the word “chavs” etc also very very demaning and again, classist. This isn’t aimed at you btw at all - just your comment made me reflect on this. I voted remain and do find some of the media reporting on immigration quite toxic, however we need to be respectful and communicate respectfully with each other. Those I feel who have concerns about immigration need to feel listened to and my feeling is that there is a total distrust of mainstream politics either right or left which Reform have tapped into. My concern is that whilst Reform are good communicators I don’t think based on evidence they are actually good when they get into power (and I am opposed to them). So, even if they do get in voters will become disillusioned AGAIN as they won’t see the changes they voted for. The proposal Farage and co are kinda going for is a ban on most immigration and asking settled immigrants to leave. I can’t see how even if this was voted in how this could ever work in practice. It would be utter utter chaos and of course pretty much IMO inhumane.

Toastandbutterand
Foreign born people make up 16% of the population
Foreign born people make up 12% of convicted criminals

Foreign national offenders make up around 12 percent of the total prison population. I don't think we know the percentage of foreign-born offenders in prison. Many foreign-born people obtain British citizenship.

CharSiu · 04/10/2025 08:27

All individuals contribute or take from the state, it’s a combination of both. None of us know the exact numbers but obviously there are some indications to how economically viable people are.

My family are immigrants, the children from my Father arriving are all successful. Myself and DH are the least successful but we still sat in the top 5% of earning capacity for years. My brothers ended up moving again to America, one was headhunted by a major UK firm but didn’t accept the offer as he could earn obscene amounts of money in the US.

@LuceeeeeLoobieeel when you write class do you really mean wealth levels? A family like mine has paid huge amounts of tax, all net contributors.

@usernamealreadytaken it does seem obvious regarding voting patterns. We have recently got back from a holiday. We drove back through the large social housing estate in our town, there are England flags everywhere. These are the people that are more likely to be in direct competition with immigrants for housing and work.

People with more money can afford their moral high ground.

I am a second generation brown British woman and I get called an immigrant by my whole fascist racist street and the racist pub staff nearby constantly. I've been racially harrassed, sexually harrassed and stalked by 20+ scatty facist white 'men' for 5 months. These people are Disgusting and it is 100% just an excuse- it's all underlying racism thats been sitting there for decades until now where these facist chavs are going crazy and peoples true racism has been revealed.

These Racists all need to get out of England and be shipped to a prison in another country like the convicts got shipped to Australia. Racist Facist Criminal Scum are Not Welcome in England.

50% of social housing in London goes to families where the head of the household was not born in the UK. I don't have a particular comment to make but that's an interesting statistic in view of the homelessness that has been rife in London my whole life ( and I'm not a spring chicken).

that explains your comment then.

Nobody is illegal.

Racism is illegal yet you have all these Facists and the new National Front and Neo Nazi parties of the UK acting like terrorists everywhere, committing Terrorist attacks on immgration centres, on people. I am surrounded by racists/ terrorists.

Why aren't racists called Terrorists, it's what they are, I don't get it, they shouldn't be allowed to live here, they should all be jailed and kicked out of the country and good people from other countries should take their place.

Lets call racists for what they are, Terrorists. Given the chance, all would do what those terrorists who committed terrorist acts on the immgration centres did, they would plunder, loot, assault, attack, many racist/ fascist men fetishize and even rape women of colour and have done so for centuries (well documented fact), etc and the list goes on. These people deserve the same sentencing as terrorists. Do you really think if push came to shove and the govt was run by a homocidal and condoning facist like Hitler, these same scatty racist terrorists wouldn't do the same?

The kind of evil, hatred and violence festering in these demons is incomprehensible, racists are capable of incomprehensibly evil and horrific things. Many Racist/ Facist women can watch babies of colour be massacred in cold blood and feel nothing. They are devoid of actual feminine traits like compassion, kindness, empathy etc- just pure evil. Racism causes wars, massacres, carnage. Yet these facists were allowed to walk free after their attacks on buildings and innocent humans, many who have been fleeing wars, including children and babies in England. Something very wrong there- these people are Evil Demons. Hell has a very special place for Racists/ Fascists.
