Posting here shamelessly for traffic! Does this rug look stupid? I can move it towards the TV a little bit. Does it look too small for the room? Should I get a bigger one? Oh God, I don’t know what to do. Help!!

I think it's a little small and a little white too to be honest. I'd get a bigger one in softer tones .

Personally I would have gone for a bright colour because there is so much neutral in the room.
But it looks ok. I would move it nearer the tv.

It’s too small. Needs to reach under your furniture. Not completely, but a part of the rug needs to go under your pieces.

I said this to my DP he will not listen. He hates when rugs go under the furniture so this was my trying to get to the furniture without going under it attempt. 🤣🤣

The room will be painted on the back wall will be navy. I don’t do bright colours.😅

Then I guess you need to decide if it’s a hill you want to die on! 😂😂

personally it’s too small for me. It should go under the furniture even just marginally ie the front feet of the sofas on it. the next size up would probably be perfect.
it does look a bit pale alongside the sofas could you get one with navy through it to break it up and tie it into the wall ones it’s painted.

That will make a big difference. With a navy wall I think the rug will look nice. But nearer the tv of course.

There is no right or wrong when styling your own home. Your DH has a preference which is fine. You have a different preference which is also fine.

That rug is fine.

The only question is whether you or your DH will prevail.

Looks nice but could be a bit better fitted if was a couple of inches wider all round.

I personally think it looks fine, but it's your house so if you aren't happy with it.... change it.

I think that will make it look more uneven because you have the darkness of the navy wall, TV, wood and then the lightness everywhere else.

I love the rug and the colour but you need the next size up so that all the front legs of the furniture are on it.

The rug is too small. Personally I would choose a different colour for a better contrast to the sofas but that’s down to taste. The size is a non-negotiable in my view though.

I'm team DP. For reasons I don't understand myself, I can't bear it when rugs go under furniture.

Neither can I. No rugs under furniture for me.
