Posting here shamelessly for traffic! Does this rug look stupid? I can move it towards the TV a little bit. Does it look too small for the room? Should I get a bigger one? Oh God, I don’t know what to do. Help!!

it’s still a little bit curled on the edges because it’s new…

rug is fine but it’s bland. With the navy wall I would get some large velvet navy cushions and some grey ones too

Maybe plants would freshen the look

Nice rug but too small. Rugs should go under the sofa.. Maybe compromise and bring the sofas in a little.

It looks fine. It doesn’t need to be larger and go under the furniture unless you want it to.

It is a bit small but it’s not the issue, the room is bland,you need some colourful cushions to warm it up and soften it,

Either the rug is in the middle clear of furniture as a feature, or it goes under at least the front legs of the furniture to bring cohesion to the space. This rug does neither as it’s both too big and too small.

Would you consider a navy rug? Or a coffee tablr? It’s all a bit stark.

I don’t feel the room could take a coffee table…we would just end up walking around it .

Depends on the colour to be honest. I prefer muted tones, neutrals and darks. I don’t do bright colours at all.

Agree it’s too small. You’ve got one choice, turn it round and put it marginally under the legs of the tv unit. It MAY then reach to the sofa?

I think it would look better if you put the front feet of the chair and other furniture on it. It's too big to have everything round the edge. The rug itself is nice and goes well in the room.

Little update. Got a bigger rug and they was painted so it’s all come together a little bit more. Just need to get some more artwork and a mirror. 🙌

@Mathsbabe @hockityponktas thank you, I stepped outside my comfort zone and got something with pattern (albeit not too much) and I love it. It’s really getting there now.

If it was me I’d pull it under the sofa, put a coffee table on it to make it into an “area” - and I’d add some plants.
