Migrants get up to £2000 on bankcard after prison sentences

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:14

Just watched 47 migrants being deported, costing hundreds of thousands, private flights, huge number of security guards, the migrants then get given cash cards! Back to Romania after committing crimes here including murder, sexual offences, pedophiles with money to help them resettle in their own country.

ITV news - our own go hungry and cold.

We are total mugs here in the UK.

On a separate story migrants having taxis to appointments, free NHS. I mean we have to get to our own way.

Mugs. No wonder many people are unhappy. These are convicted criminals, being pandered to.

I think the poster is assuming you think reform are the solution. Reform who have explicitly stated they'd remove right to remain (which would impact law abiding carers) and who have certainly talked about health insurance being the answer.

But you could just be genuinely frustrated and looking for answers.

I didn't suggest Reform were the answer though. I'm exasperated that main parties cannot sort this.

Obviously some on mumsnet think it's funny that people are annoyed. Its pretty disgusting that so much money is wasted when people here have needs not met, health, education etc.

You do know that reform would get rid of the NHS if they get in right?

Anyahyacinth · 24/09/2025 22:43

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:40

The less time they are here, the more money saved.

Well it's dominating politics at present so unless its sorted will continue to cause division.

It’s just a pathetic distraction for people who can’t see the bigger picture of where money is really being extracted from our society. Very sad really as they will only make their own situations worse.

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:16

I don't like Nigel but can see why he's getting votes.

It needs sorting by the government quick.

Actually watch the report, its mond boggling the costs for 47 convicted criminals.

Edited

Farage talks through his arse. You watched that news story, it was incredibly difficult and expensive to deport these criminals and yet he thinks he can ship out every asylum seeker and immigrant. It would cost the country billions and eat up all the money you say should be going to services like health and education. If it was easy to do governments would have done it already.

Again, I've never suggested reform! I said I understand why some vote reform.

I want the government to sort it quickly and stop giving money to convicted criminals going back to their own safe countries!

They aren't our citizens, they are Romanian, let the Romanians deal with their own. We aren't responsible for other countries people. Not our problem.

Edited

They can’t be “dealt with” by their own country if they’re here, can they?

nomas · 24/09/2025 22:46

OP, why are you acting like this is new news? The Facilitated Return Scheme has been operating since 2006!

It works out much cheaper to send the criminals back with a couple of grand, plus they will never be allowed to re-enter the UK.

rockstarshoes · 24/09/2025 22:46

OP it is the voluntary ones who get the £2000, the others don’t get anything!
People are never satisfied are they? We don’t want them here deport them, and shouting because deporting people costs money!
The detail says that compared to fighting the deportation in the courts, or keeping people in prison £2k is nothing.

Oh well nevermind then, just keep pissing millions away then, nothing to see here, can't be improved. 🙄

Just to agree last time I was in hospital the carers and many other staff holding things together were Romanian, Phillipino, African etc..…amazing over qualified people doing care work 12 hour shifts to care beautifully for very vulnerable people ( I was the ward baby with a severely broken leg)..the NHS would collapse without them and don’t mention community carers ..that’s even more reliant on leave to remain

Eh? What are you on about. I said it isn’t easy and, if it were, it would be happening already. To edit, I don’t mean that I agree with removing asylum seekers if their claims are upheld and we need migrants to run out services. There needs to be managed migration, our birth rate is falling.

Not correct. These were ALL convicted criminals, not voluntary ones, go watch the news report, its was on ITV. They didn’t want to leave, they were escorted onto the planes after prison sentences ended, and given pre loaded bank cards with up to £2000 on.

A one off payment of £2k is going to be much cheaper than paying their rent and bills I guess.

“Nothing to see here” is insightful as that’s exactly what the focus on this trivia is - a bait and switch distraction for the serious issues in our society…let’s blame the few strangers rather than fixing the big problems …millions is nothing in comparison to what isn’t being paid to build our state services…but you keep looking at the little guy as the root of all our problems 🤦‍♀️ nothing to see here as you say

That's great. Different people.

The ones being deported were convicted criminals NOT workers or carers that have done nothing wrong.

Its pretty obvious that few commenting actually watched the news report. It wasn't people employed in hospitals being deported, it was criminals at the end of prison sentences!

Exactly. Come back and try again.

It doesn't work like that. The facilitated removal scheme (which is what this is) is only available after serving a sentence of 12 months to 4 years. Nobody is coming here and purposely committing crime and spending at least a year in prison to take £2k home.

And there is a re-entry ban.

nomas · 24/09/2025 22:53

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:49

✅ 1. Cost-effectiveness
Deporting someone forcibly is very expensive — it involves:

  • Legal processes (appeals, tribunals, etc.)
  • Detention before removal (costly to house and guard)
  • Escorts during travel
  • Coordination with foreign governments

In contrast, voluntary return is significantly cheaper. A one-off payment or travel assistance can save the government tens of thousands of pounds per case.

✅ 2.Legal and human rights obligations
The UK, like all countries, is bound by human rights laws (such as the European Convention on Human Rights). This means:

  • You can’t just deport someone without due process
  • You can’t deport people to countries where they face a real risk of torture, death, or persecution
  • You have to offer alternatives when forced removal is not viable

Voluntary return schemes help the UK stay within legal boundaries while still encouraging people to leave.

Source: ChatGPT. And it’s correct.

Again another thread about immigration based on clickbait.
if you’re so interested in immigration why don’t you read the UK guidance. None of this is new, none of this is shocking, none of this is unique to the UK. Boats have been coming here for over 20 years. We take in the least amount of people - either to process or grant status.
You are only hearing about it because there’s an agenda. And the end goal is not to line the pockets of British citizens.
They are firmly going to put the blame on ‘immigrants’ when they privatise the NHS, cut your benefits, raise your taxes blah blah blah. Anyone else still waiting for the XZY billions we meant to be getting because of Brexit?
And it’s so easy, can’t believe they couldn’t find a Farage back in the early naughties. Think of how rich this country would be, everyone would be working, NHS would be thriving, housing would be plentiful. And best of all, no immigrants. Thank fuck Reform is here to sort it all out.

OonaStubbs · 24/09/2025 22:57

We are far too compassionate towards criminals in this country, we spend millions on them while ordinary law-abiding working people are taxed for the privilege.

PlayCertainGamesWinCertainPrizes · 24/09/2025 22:57

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:22

Quicker, with no money, in handcuffs and leg chains if they throw urine over security staff. Disgusting. Tighten the boarders so we know who is arriving. Much quicker processing on arrival.

Edited

But if they’re Romanian, then the government knows who’s arriving..? They’re not getting here by boat.

I don't care what they did BEFORE they raped, murdered, assault, and other associated crimes, once convicted of SERIOUS crimes they need booting out.

Any carers that haven't been convicted of serious crimes don't have to leave. The story was only about people who were convicted 😂
