Migrants get up to £2000 on bankcard after prison sentences

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:14

Just watched 47 migrants being deported, costing hundreds of thousands, private flights, huge number of security guards, the migrants then get given cash cards! Back to Romania after committing crimes here including murder, sexual offences, pedophiles with money to help them resettle in their own country.

ITV news - our own go hungry and cold.

We are total mugs here in the UK.

On a separate story migrants having taxis to appointments, free NHS. I mean we have to get to our own way.

Mugs. No wonder many people are unhappy. These are convicted criminals, being pandered to.

OP, there are 12.5 million people in the UK who have criminal records.
Do you think they are all asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants?

I hate this argument. Yes, we have loads of criminals. There are some really shitty British citizens, born and bred.

But that doesn’t mean we add to them.

If I could kick those British criminals out of the country I would, but sadly we have no choice but to tolerate them and house them in prison, or pray they don’t beat, rape or murder us.

But I repeat, that’s not a reason to invite more criminals into the country and keep them here.

You’re right, we have enough to worry about.

Or bus fare? Who the hells takes a taxi hundreds of miles, even if they have a decent income? It increasingly feels like Labour are trolling us.

Yes, Starmer has personally called Ubers for migrants to go to a GP appontment/swan feast/5 star hotel/ insert propaganda here just to troll you.

Not sure why us spending tax payers' money on criminals is "yawn". It's shocking when you consider the state of health, education and everything else in this country.

My politics are in the centre - and I would like to see the left and right collaborate rather than fight, but comments like "Hi Nige" and "Yawn" actually make me feel more inclined to vote Reform next time.

You'd vote Reform because people on here comment with "Hi Nice" and "Yawn"? Wow.

Letstradegums · 24/09/2025 23:44

This is the Early Release Scheme, OP.
Only certain foreign nationals are eligible. They are being deported (for the crimes they committed) and they were also liable to removal (for being here illegally in some way). By doing this, the UK is saving money on further prison time and the cost of administrative removal. Both would cost us much more than £2000.

Farage et al are relying on people like you, who believe the media and spread misinformation without researching the truth.

How do you get a zoom appointment if you're not registered with a doctor? 😕
As doctors usually need you to have a fixed address.

They can get one with the doctor who they are otherwise being taken to visit 800 miles away.

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 23:45

mswales · 24/09/2025 23:35

This is misinformation, unsurprising given how ITV had portrayed it in the story. The only ones that get money are ones that have applied to leave under the Facilitated return scheme. They may not be keen on leaving but the ones who are literally forcibly deported will not be eligible for any money. You get differing amounts of money based on when you apply - for instance you can only get the highest amount, £1500, if you apply for the scheme while you're still in custody.

A additional 500 can be granted for people with specific additional needs like a serious mental health disorder. The idea that forcibly deported criminals are getting 2k each is just pure scandal mongering and very poor journalism by ITV.
Check out the rules of the scheme which gives the financial incentive, to get the facts: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-facilitated-return-scheme-frs/facilitated-return-scheme-frs-accessible--2

Thanks for the information. It was certainly portrayed like that.

I dread to think how much it would have cost to have all the treatments /scans etc I've had to have this year if the NHS didn't exist. Yes, it's stretched at the point of entry if you need to get an appointment, but I've found them amazing if you end up needing them.
I've even noticed lately for the first time in absolute ages (years!) that there's extra appointments at ours and not as big a wait in the queue system. So it does seem to be slowly improving.
People are too quick to knock and complain.
An insurance based healthcare like the US would be a terrible idea, as people would just put off going to the doctors if they didn't have much money.

It’s interesting that the US is the only comparator in this debate, and is scorned by the left (although properly insured or self-pay US patients receive excellent care).

There are a whole plethora of alternatives across the European continent that are neither communist (NHS) or self-pay/insure (USA). I’d take getting ill anywhere back in France over running the gauntlet with hordes of the unwashed in an NHS A&E, following which (if I’m lucky) I’ll be given a bed in a shared ward with no privacy, poor infection control and hygiene and expected to be eternally grateful to the sainted NHS, like some kind of supplicant. It’s weird.

I’d happily go to an insurance based health system. I pay way more in NI than I ever would on private healthcare, as does DH and we only have one child, who also pays NI.
I could get a bloody good policy for what I pay each month.

The NHS is also dreadful and not fit for purpose. I’m going deaf in one ear but can’t get an appointment with a GP around my work and have been advised that the wait time for an ENT appointment is years anyway. I can’t believe anyone would think that it doesn’t need reform.

Be careful for what you wish for. Don't know if heard about the British journo who was shot in the leg by ICE agents in LA a couple months ago? Well, he is an old friend. Despite having full insurance for his who family, over 2K a month, he was left with an £80k bill at the end, and a refusal from the insurance to cover wound changing and walking aids. Luckily for him he saved several thousand as married to a nurse, but honestly, we do not want this system.

Whether Starmer is personally making the taxi calls or not is irrelevant. It’s undeniable that Labour are doing an awful job. Truly, unbelievably awful. Worse than the Tories,
and I really didn’t think that was possible.
I cannot believe how economically illiterate they are. This country is going to be in a terrible state in another 4 years. It’s going to be bad for everyone except illegal migrants and human rights lawyers at this rate.

It doesn’t work when kicking people out of prison with no money, so how would this work?

They would be going back to their home country, so their own government could sort out their benefits.

Really? I don’t think you’re really centre if a couple of throwaway remarks on a social media site would sway you to Reform:

Not at all what I wrote, but you seem to have Starmer’s instinct for politics (ie none). The UK is in quite a febrile state, because we’re borrowing 600 million quid a day, workers are about to be taxed up the hoop again, welfare spending is through the roof and we seem unable to control our borders. Starmer and his dim little sixth form debating society government need to get a grip on the optics, and should realise that the press will be looking for every example of state largesse towards boat arrivals. Taxis from Aberdeen to Durham are ludicrous and obscene, by any measure.

I will never vote Reform - we are a mixed race family. But FFS, one or both of the main parties needs to get a lot better at politics if we don’t want to lurch any further towards installing Frog Face as PM.

If a certain proportion of Brits are criminals it's therefore obvious that a certain proportion of immigrants might be too.

But people forget that the large majority of immigrants are law-abiding good people, many of whom have fled persecution or war-zones, or simply want a better life. It's not fair that they are all tarred with the same brush, especially when threads like this spread misinformation. It just leads to racism and hate crimes.

I watched the ITV report and I thought the journalist said the cash cards were given to "some" (not all) of the deportees. Presumably those who agreed not to contest deportation, went quietly, etc., so saving the cost of expensive legal appeals.

I agree this point should have been emphasised more, both in the report and in the interview with the Home Secretary that followed.

They are trying, which is more than the tories who gave up on immigration (and allowed record number of legal migrants in) and to say worse under tories is unfair.

More than happy to welcome immigrants who come here to work and we know who they are and where they are from. If they turn out to be criminals, then they should be deported forcefully.

Not so happy to host people who ditch their identification/docs. We should know who is entering our country, so we can be sure they aren’t criminals.

Crazy. Just deport with no money.

If it was as easy as ‘just deport’, it would be done. Therefore if it is possible to convince those individuals to voluntarily return- it saves the UK money -removes undesirables from our communities, to me it’s a no brainier

Until recently certain countries seemed to be exempt from even having to disclose any criminal past when applying for a visa and it's also down to the home office to double check the rest - I wonder how much attention is paid to that in reality, is every visa checked, even for holiday makers or students? If so, do they even have access to another country's records?. It's insane how far too easy going the UK is/was.
