Migrants get up to £2000 on bankcard after prison sentences

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:14

Just watched 47 migrants being deported, costing hundreds of thousands, private flights, huge number of security guards, the migrants then get given cash cards! Back to Romania after committing crimes here including murder, sexual offences, pedophiles with money to help them resettle in their own country.

ITV news - our own go hungry and cold.

We are total mugs here in the UK.

On a separate story migrants having taxis to appointments, free NHS. I mean we have to get to our own way.

Mugs. No wonder many people are unhappy. These are convicted criminals, being pandered to.

I think you’ve misunderstood my post, I’m disagreeing with her.

That’s great. But I think you’ve created an issue for trade where there isn’t one.

Yes, I think alot of other countries are also looking to leaving the echr for the same reasons as us. There is absolutely no need to be party to it just because of out geography when most of the world isn't. We could be leaders here (in something other than self sabotage).

So following the disaster of Brexit, we will then be outcasts like Russia, the only other European country not party to ECHR (they were kicked out).

‘The UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement, which governs the post-Brexit relationship, commits both the UK and EU explicitly to the ECHR when it comes to human rights protection, particularly in security and judicial cooperation.’

But none have left. Even Russia didn’t leave, they were kicked out,

persephonia · 25/09/2025 13:28

nomas · 25/09/2025 13:14

Exactly. The only European country not party to the ECHR is Russia (and Belarus who do what Russia tell them to do). 46 countries are council members, including the UK.

If you want to leave the ECHR and put yourself on a par with Russia, the rest of Europe will take note and deal with us accordingly.

A few years ago we could probably have got away with leaving it. But now, you have countries like America behaving incredibly erratically. There was a lot of pragmatism shown by EU leaders in terms of not criticising/commenting on any of his crazy policies or sayings. And in fact a lot of flattery despite some of his objectionable actions. But the reward for that has been increasingly erratic trade and economic policies. Tarifs on, tarifs off, tarifs on, tarifs off... .(South Korea came to a big agreement with America to build factories inside America. Then America arrested the workers building the factory/training locals and sent them home in chains.)t's absolutely terrible for businesses. America gets away with it more because they are such a big part of the worlds economy but even so lots of countries are trying to find ways to at least partially decouple because it's so harmful.

We aren't America. If we start acting crazy and erratic other countries will distance themselves through self preservation if nothing else. Part of operating internationally is showing that you are willing to abide by agreements and show consistency. We already hurt our standing a bit not with Brexit but with the way some politicians (Johnson, Truss) behaved afterwards. Most governments don't give a shit about human rights when thinking about trade deals etc. They do care about stability.

Thats before you even start thinking about the protections the ECHR gives to British citizens.

The ECHR are now aware of this threat and have invited countries to give ideas for change.

It might take the pressure off, and it’s a watered down version which voters are happy to stay in idk.

ETA I don’t think the concern is our trade it’s whether others would follow. So even the ECHR realise it’s change time.

I suspect the ECHR probably does need reform/updating. Most institutions do. It would be much better to be inside the ECHR being part of sensible, well thought through changes than outside it. And now I am getting horrible Brexit flashbacks.

The US has 5 times the population of the UK so not at all.

Yes but their elderly percentage is similar, including higher prevalence of worse health issues to be fair.

We go to poorer countries to recruit NHS and care staff…we are asking people to come here 🤦‍♀️

That's true.
And post-war we invited people from the commonwealth to come here to prop up a number.ber of industries that were failing. (Not to mention those we recruited to fight for us before that).

Oh how hyperbolic! This has nothing to do with race and you bloody know it! We have people from every corner of the world here, British kids with amazing heritages. That is the NOT the same as wanting to allow tens of millions more people we have no room to house.

You really are disgusting conflating the two!

I’m disgusting but you have nothing to say about the recent racism against Muslims, black people and Asians?

No one has said people who want less immigration are automatically racist but there are yobs using the current situation as an excuse to target Asians and black people.

I didn't, however, people don't read what I said.

I never said all Romanians or all migrants, I saud the convicted criminals. Too many people don't read the actual comment and jump in.

Sorry OP, I promise this will be my last reply to you.

"Too many people don't read the actual comment and jump in"... This is you. You saw a programme, misinterpreted part of it, then came to a large forum for a rant before checking any facts.

Please, please, educate yourself on anything you see or read in the media before sharing misinformation. It's not fair to the millions of non-white citizens or visitors in this country who will be subjected to racism because of people sharing misinformation and inciting racism.

Noseyoldcow · 25/09/2025 13:13

Well, if someone is convicted of a serious enough crime to get banged up and face deportation the law needs changing so that for these people there is no right of appeal (against the deportation), so that is part of the sentence. Right to a family life? Sure, take them with you.

I don't disagree with you.

I didn't misinterpreted part of it. I shared what the programme said. Its up to the programme to present details fairly. My comments pertained to the giving of cash. Some posters have added some reasons for that, which makes sense.

'Sharing misinformation and inciting racism' 1. Total rubbish and usual comments thrown around to shut people down. I imagine hundreds of thousands saw the article if not a million watchers. A small number read this thread in comparison. Perhaps take up issues with ITV. This is a discussion forum where people can air views and challenge.

  1. I've incited no racism. Point me to racism. The individuals were all convicted criminals and returned to their country where they are safe.

Its a discussion that needs having since the UK needs to save money and sort out the problems. Popping your fingers in ears and insisting their are no problems won't help at all.

Simply, women discussing the dangers of thousands of unknown adult males entering our communities is not the reason men commit violence.

Men commit violence regardless of what women think. Stop blaming women for male violence.

Where have I blamed women for male violence?

You thinking or saying something incorrect doesn’t make it true.

Edit: since you edited your post, yes, they are men, hence I said yobs. I didn’t say the women of MN did the attacks!

Ok

You’re going with faux naivety.

“No one has said people who want less immigration are automatically racist but there are yobs using the current situation as an excuse to target Asians and black people.”

In this paragraph, you’re saying that women expressing concern about immigration gives “yobs” an “excuse” to commit violence. This heavily implies that women shouldn’t speak about it so as not to cause men committing violence.

If you refuse to take ownership of that message, then there’s not much can be gained from conversation with you.

Edited because you edited your post: the paragraph of mine you quoted does not blame the women of MN, it blames the yobs.
