Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

strangerandstranger · 21/09/2025 23:22

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

Gun death by homicide in Vermont, one of the states with relatively high gun ownership rates, is 2 per 100,000.

You actually don’t have to remove gun ownership rights to tackle this problem.

Agree. You don't have to remove it, we have plenty of guns in Australia. We just regulate who has them and what sort they can have.
I tried telling them that on Quora and got howled down repeatedly for it. No, Americans must be allowed to have as many guns, of as many types, as they can afford. With no controls at all.

As I said in Australia it is 1 in a million, not 2 in 100,000

FuckRealityBringMeABook · 23/09/2025 09:33

Japan[s population is roughly a third of the US. Their gun deaths are typically in the low teens annually.

We have a licensing system that works well for its purpose. It’s unlicensed guns that are the biggest problem—and you don’t need to change the constitution to do it.

I haven't said it here yet but I do think his views on gun ownership were hateful.

USA has guns as the leading cause of death in children. He was advocating for a cowboy culture where children are gunned down at school and have to go through intensive in-school training to hopefully survive an active shooter situation. They've even invented backpacks that can double as shields in a shooting.

And his view was also unChristian.

Thanks, you are entitled to your opinion obviously.

Can you quote where he was 'advocating for a cowboy culture where children are gunned down in school?'

Because I'm not aware that he actually did adovcate for anything of the sort?

Just editing to add I am not pro- gun, I am just not clear that mainstream views should be described as hateful.

I think where he suggested putting armed guards in schools. I know that's probably an acceptable view among gun toting Americans, but to outsiders the thought is just crazy. Well, to this outsider anyway.

To your last point, a mainstream view among Christians is being gay is a sin. That's absolutely hateful. 'Mainstream view' doesn't equal absence of hate.

I agree with the fact that it is crazy.

But in a situation where you are not going to get rid of guns what else can you do? Charlie Kirk did not have the power to get rid of guns and his views are fairly mainstream in the USA on this issue.

It's hyperbolic to say that is 'advocating for a cowboy culture where children are gunned down in school!'

lifeturnsonadime · 23/09/2025 09:48

Gun ownership is not just a mainstream view amongst christians. I haven't once mentioned Charlie Kirks religion.

I certainly disagree that being gay is sin.

He was advocating for continuing their cowboy culture where kids get gunned down in schools because there are few controls on who can own what guns, or how many. If he was a serious advocate for the right to bear arms he would adopt a posture where people can have guns if they a) have a reason to and b) can demonstrate mental stability and a history of being law abiding.

I wasn't saying gun ownership was a Christian view. Apologies for the confusion.

It was more mainstream views can also be hateful. Homosexuality was once a crime, slavery was an acceptable norm. Etc, etc.

What do you need to do?

Confiscate unlicensed guns. Be willing to withstand accusations of ‘racism’. Look at stop and frisk in the 90s—NYC crime went down at a faster rate than other cities. Aggressive policing was the critical factor (in my view anyway)

I think the issue is confiscating unlicensed guns isn't that easy. In a country where the number of guns dwarfs the number of people, guns are going to fall into the wrong hands. That's inevitable.

I don't think it's hyperbolic. I think it is true that USA has a major gun problem.

USA 120 guns / 100 people
Falkland Islands 60 guns/ 100 people (most dumped on the ground after the war)
Yemen 52 guns/ 100 people (2nd decade of a civil war)
Everywhere else trails a long way behind.

USA has constitutional right to bear arms - meaning if you have the money and can find one for sale, you are entitled to own a fighter jet. 100's of people own their own tanks.

91% of American citizens want better gun control. Monied interests continue their opposition by buying favour. If you haven't already seen it, this doco is enlightening.

Didn't Christ preach love thy neighbour?

Kirk loved his neighbours under certain conditions. They weren't gay, trans etc etc.

I'll caveat this by saying I know sweet FA about Christ.

@wineosaurusrexwould love to see explore this, honestly, but what I’ve seen and watched does not tell me this (and I’ve seen quite a bit). Can you provide specific examples and quotes with context?

The historic event will likely be one of the largest and most consequential in American history,

The team at @TrumpStudents & Turning Point Action are honored to help make this happen, sending 80+ buses full of patriots to DC to fight for this president.

A tweet sent a day or so before those "patriots" stormed the Capitol and tried to lynch Mike Pence. The tweet was later deleted but the Internet never forgets:

All this talk of "fight for this president" (who had just lost an election and was reluctant to go) rather sounds like inciting violence to me.

@MeTooOverHereexamples where he actively spoke in contradiction to Christ’s teachings

I've had a long and tiring day so logging off now.
Lifted from JoJofromJerz substack.

"So, let’s put Kirk’s words next to the words of the man (Cardinal Timothy) Dolan claims he modeled:
Charlie Kirk: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”
Jesus: “Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.”
Charlie Kirk: “You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously.” (about Michelle Obama, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and other Black women)
Jesus: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Charlie Kirk: “If you’re a WNBA, pot-smoking, Black lesbian, do you get treated better than a United States marine?”
Jesus: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
Charlie Kirk: “You’re in your early 30s. I’m sorry; you’re not as attractive in the dating pool as you were in your early 20s … you’re not at your prime …”
Jesus: “For God does not show favoritism.”
Charlie Kirk: “MLK was awful … We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s.”
Jesus: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
Charlie Kirk: “George Floyd was a scumbag.”
Jesus: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.”

One voice shrugged at funerals, scapegoated the vulnerable, cast suspicion on skin color, demeaned women of color, mocked lesbians, reduced women’s worth to youth and beauty, sneered at civil rights, and stripped away human dignity. The other voice welcomed children, embraced the marginalized, shattered prejudice, leveled the playing field of human value, preached mercy, declared equality, blessed the pursuit of justice, and insisted every life had worth. One voice trafficked in contempt; the other embodied love."

You may not be wrong, but you haven't provided the evidence you think you have. The preaching hate statement in that sentence is stand alone. The following statements are not related to the preaching hate one. The comma is crucial, and not a semi colon. She doesn't appear to have given examples of where he preached hate.

@lifeturnsonadime Why are you being so combative? I was just saying that I didn’t realise you were dyslexic, as I wouldn’t have made a comment about your reading comprehension.
