Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

strangerandstranger · 21/09/2025 23:22

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

So, you won't give me your view of an acceptable figure of annual gun deaths?

Edited

What's the acceptable figure of road traffic accidents per year or should we ban cars?
What's the acceptable death rate per year for obesity and cancer before we ban processed food?
What's the acceptable death rate per year from alcohol issues before we ban it?

But it is now clear that the radicalised leftists are the party of murder and the dangerous side of the equation. Centrist and right wing people are generally amenable to discussion.

Entirely wrong. Right-wing extremist killings outpace the left consistently and by a wide margin.

This. It's not hard to find the stats to back up this statement. I'm so sick of right wing politicians/media lying and getting away with it.

And the point here is what?

That Democrats are not credible on this issue, for one. They have had plenty of chances to show progress on the issue and they have not. Where is the Rudy Giuliani of the left?

RingoJuice · 23/09/2025 08:33

No.

Because the acceptable number is as low as you can get it. Like car deaths. How many are acceptable? You could get to zero if you took all cars away, but it’s not a realistic measure, is it?

Charlie Kirk's argument.

That's a risk v benefit debate. Surely the benefits of motor vehicles far outweigh the risks.

In your view, what are the benefits of having guns? The risks are obvious.

No one is ever going to get rid of guns in the USA. If Sandy hook didn't change minds nothing will.

There is no point in asking what number of deaths are acceptable, the answer is clearly zero.

The right to bare arms is a mainstream position in the USA. Accusing one man of hate for holding a mainstream opinion on this is absurd.

Ok. But no one mentioned Democrats. Only that ICE was brought in Democrat leaning states.

AzurePanda · 23/09/2025 08:48

@BerylSnow I am totally anti gun (like most non Americans) but it doesn’t take much effort to see why Americans are so keen on them. Obviously the whole point of the second amendment is to enable citizens to fight back against government tyranny and overreach, then there’s the long tradition of hunting and sporting endeavours. Then there’s the much touted deterrence and defence factor against criminals and finally of course, they see gun ownership as emblematic of liberty.

The US isn’t the only country with widespread gun ownership.

I grew up with a gun in the home (I have no idea where my dad kept it) so it’s completely normal to me. It was a somewhat rural area, no telling when cops would arrive if a home
invasion took place

(and it had happened in my area, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility)

Who is accusing who of hate because of their views on guns?

I've missed that bit.

The poster claimed there was some agenda from the current office towards dem cities because they voted dem as if armed guards were going in for no other reason than they voted dem ignoring the absolute shitshow the dems have made of their cities with their policies. Clear enough for you now?

Yes, I wish they would go to my home state but I haven’t heard of any widespread action.

Pity, we are the ones who actually voted for it … it’s probably because they are starting in so-called sanctuary states and cities

You right wing Americans are quite aggressive!

But, yes, I see the point. And I'm not really close enough to the data to see the impact of Dem policies. Or even what the policies are.

Obviously, like everything, there will be nuance with the crime stats in these cities.

Are you denying that people on this thread have expressed that they found Charlie Kirks views hateful because that's as absurd as asking how many gun deaths are acceptable over and over again as though it is some kind of gotcha?

I'm not American and in what way was I aggressive?

@5128gapMy perspective is that he answered her but thought it was a bit of a waste if a question (I agree) - I mean compare it to the first question asked by the young lady in the Oxford debate which was thoughtful and well put together. It’s a very strong feeling to have about a person based on their tone and stance. If you can’t provide a credible justification for your arguments such as quotes and detailed discussion it does unfortunately make it difficult to have a meaningful debate with you.

So you can't back up your claim? Hmmm...

Charlie Kirk did have hateful views. But I think people were probably referring to his anti gay, black and trans stances. I'm not sure any would claim a pro gun stance is hateful. A pro gun stance is seemingly stupid, though! You can quote me on that one.

The gun death question wasn't a gotcha. It's a logical conclusion to the debate. Well it is to anyone not blinded by their second amendment rights!

I’m very surprised that people have focused on Kirk’s statement that a certain number of gun deaths is an acceptable price to pay for gun ownership. That’s a completely self evident statement and applies to pretty much everything in society from all forms of transport, alcohol, cigarettes, various sporting pursuits and so on.

It's not self evident at all.

As I said above, it's risk v benefit. What are the benefits of having guns? Genuine question. The risks are obvious.
