Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

strangerandstranger · 21/09/2025 23:22

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

not really. Have you heard of the teacher in Batley?
In hiding for nearly 5 years.
Can you imagine this happening if the comments had been about Jesus? No, neither can I.

A minority of idiots doesn’t mean an entire religion is off limits for criticism.

Are you not more concerned about Jimmy Kimmel being censored for comparing Trump to a 4 year old?

How will I understand your position and why you think this is 'tripe' if you just resort to namecalling. Now all I will do is just ignore you because you are being extremely unhelpful.

Normally I would ignore a post like yours, but in a thread where we are debating that there is no debate in society, I though it was helpful to point out your post was as helpful as giving a knife to eat soup

Your “Hating hate IS hate” is what I consider to be tripe. It shouldn’t be that hard to work out. As for “name calling” - where?

You still haven’t answered why you think I should “question my feelings”, when you yourself said in your very next post “A compromise does not need to be reached in how one person feels about something.”

I agree that is why he targets them though, but where would you draw the line. Extremists prey on those who they believe they can convince to think the same as them. I totally understand why he targeted them.

My gay friend committed suicide as his family were very religious and he was convinced there was something wrong with him. He wont be the only one. Same for women who have been forced to continue unwanted pregnancies.

The only thing I agreed with him with is the one scientific fact he discussed which is that you cannot biologically change sex so therefore women's rights to single sex spaces should be protected. I dont agree with most his other beliefs re trans people though or basically anything else he stood for.

However I dont need anyone else to agree with me and certainly wouldn't push my views on most people in RL unless asked for my opinion. Within my close family we have debated this and obv on MN its what its here for.

I’m sorry for your loss.

Really saddens me that some people are still driven to this simply because of who they are. It’s awful.

So there is rank hypocrisy in the "movement" plain to see. If they are all on the side of "Christianity" as the foundation of US values, should he not be following her lead and also preaching forgiveness? Shows a typical lack of respect towards such an important and revered woman, don't you think?

^This 100%. Completely hypocrisy, and contrary to the teaching of Jesus.

there’s an unspoken rule that you can’t critique some religions though. The fear isn’t of being doxxed or criticised . The fear is of being permanently cancelled, via murder, like the teacher in France. There have been numerous incidents. What do you think of them? Do you think that’s ok? I wonder why the obvious double standard applies? In the case of Kimmel, ABC seized on a convenient excuse to get rid of a ratings disaster presenter.

AzurePanda · 22/09/2025 10:21

@nomas really? The shooter had a trans boyfriend - I don’t think the Governor of Utah would regard him as “one of us” other than the fact he grew up in Utah.

They told Kimmel he can come back if he apologises to Charlie Kirk’s family.

Trump has suggested the licenses of TV networks that give him ‘bad publicity” should have their licenses ‘taken away’.

So it clearly is about censorship.

It’s not religion that’s under censorship, it’s challenging the right.

Did he know about his trans boyfriend then? Genuine question, I haven’t looked it up.

And trans ≠ left wing.

They are just trying to muddy the waters. It’s been known for a while now that the shooter killed Kirk for ‘spreading hate’ and is a gay man with a trans-identified boyfriend. Likely he was radicalized into trans ideology online.

Is this what leftism is all about? They accuse us of being hateful but what is this?

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 22/09/2025 10:31

Is this a PR stunt (not necessarily orchestrated by the wife edit: widow Erika Kirk herself) or true forgiveness? Is true forgiveness even possible whilst still being in a state of (presumably) acute grief?

and if this was true forgiveness (and not PR): why not directly address the (presumed) killer? Why the need to publicise this?

AzurePanda · 22/09/2025 10:31

@nomas his initial speech was September 12th, a day later it was widely reported that the trans room mate had been cooperating so it seems likely the Governor would have been kept informed. By then the “left leaning” comments had also been reported .

Fupoffyagrasshole · 22/09/2025 10:34

god isn't real and her forgiveness is literally meaningless

It absolutely is not normal to have “forgiven” your husbands killer within two weeks of his death, and to be using this as an opportunity to politically campaign. It is not normal to turn his memorial into a political stunt.

No it certainly isn't normal, when she won't have had time to grieve properly and process what happened.

It is possible, yes. I've been able to forgive my F in my heart for sexually abusing me, and my DSis has done that for what he did to her. He’s dead so it makes no difference to him, but it has helped me to come to terms with my past.

But it took years of therapy to get to that point.

It's a good thing she said what she did, as it might calm things down. (Although probably not as Trump is busy ramping up the hate.)

Because I wanted to understand what it is about my post that you believed was tripe. Now I understand that you interpreted my post as stating 'hating hate is hate' which is an misinterpration of my meaning.

So thank you for explaining. I will not try and explain my standpoint again which you misinterpreted because I need to work and I don't feel you are open to a discussion about looking for the grey in your black and white world.

I'm right wing thanks.
I'm not interested in the sobbing and wailing over idiots who bang on about the right to bear arms. I don't hate them I disgree with them.
America is a young country and so child like in many ways. Guns are like toys to so many peeps and they will keep them regardless.
I have American relatives, and they are obsessed with their rights to bear arms.
Live by the gun, die by it.

Do you not understand the difference between an individual on MN expressing contempt for a man with right wing views and the political stance that is left wing? Are you genuinely so ill informed about left wing politics that you think this post is 'what it's about'? There is much information available on the sociological and economic ideas that underpin left wing policies with which to broaden your knowledge.

I’m completely against censorship but you can’t say the left hasn’t been exploiting it for years in the USA. And here.

Old Twitter was run by a version of the thought police.

Mainstream beliefs like the fact that transwomen are male, were removed and posters banned.

I wonder how many left wing journalists moaning about Kimmel agree that Turning Point should have a public platform? I mean, many political activists like CK took to social media to avoid the natural pitfalls of legacy media: ie, that free speech is only feee when it parrots correct left wing dogma.
