New site poll

I dislike the new site for several reasons.
I prefer the colour blocks for OP & own posts, & it's difficult to read if you have less than perfect eyesight.

YANBU You agree with me

YABU I'm a Luddite who hates change & MN are right.

There's a neon tinge to the OP and my own posts which hurts my eyes. If it ain't broke don't fix it!!

TickyandTacky · 18/09/2025 18:20

I think everytime there's a change on MN, everyone moans and moans over the smallest thing. Then they get used to it and everyone shuts up.... until the next time.

It does seem more garish , can I change the colours to the ones I had before?

TheCurious0range · 18/09/2025 18:51

I changed to dark mode, to avoid the glare and you don't get the colour highlights at all which is annoying

Utini · 18/09/2025 18:52

Migraine sufferer here, it hurts my head!

whatyear · 18/09/2025 18:52

The poll options don’t make sense - how do I say I like the colours?

Nutmuncher · 18/09/2025 18:53

I thought it was my eyes or phone messing about- terrible!

OtherBarry · 18/09/2025 18:53

It’s making my eyes hurt, the blue is too bright

OtherBarry · 18/09/2025 18:53

Oh dear god the pink is worse

EchoedSilence · 18/09/2025 18:54

It's a bit bright, but I soon get used to change,so I'm not fussed about the change.

HansHolbein · 18/09/2025 18:55

It’s not too bad when reading posts but when you click on active… fuck me.

NoahDia · 18/09/2025 18:55

I've just about managed to get used to the very bright blue, but all the OP's post just merge into the murky background no matter which colour I choose for them.

And despite the big sign saying 'OP's post', I keep having to scroll back up a bit to make sure it is.

If the colours didn't blend into the background, there'd be no need for the 'OP's post' sign.

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 18/09/2025 18:55

It's really horrible!!
The blue hurts my eyes-and my soul! Can we have our lovely regular mumsnet back please?!
Whoever you originally surveyed for the colour change was lying mumsnet. It's really bad!

I think this is different. A lot of us are finding the new blue headache triggering.

I can't vote as there is no option for "meh, I don't love it but it isn't that bad"

Justanotherdramalama · 18/09/2025 19:20

It's making me feel really sick and dizzy. When I look at the screen my eyes go all fuzzy.

Not great at all for people with photosensitivity, I've just joined a new site so might hang out there now.

Autumnpug7 · 18/09/2025 19:22

Feels illuminus ..hurts my eyes ,I'm squinting

People are not moaning over a small issue they are genuinely having issues with the changes, the brightness and the colours are migraine inducing for those who suffer from migraine, extemely bad for those with sight issues and a range of other neuroligical conditions as explained in detail on the thread in Site Stuff.

Lucky you not being affected by any of the above conditions.

Do you think it is accetable to dismiss sufferers of those conditions as just moaners? Do you think it is acceptable for the site not to have considered users with those conditions? Yes those users may well fall silent by dint of self excluding from MN, think that is a good result for MN?

Serendipity24 · 18/09/2025 19:25

The changes are absolutely horrendous and unnecessary. It triggered my migraine.

Lonelycrab · 18/09/2025 19:25

It’s not a nice blue.

It’s verging on a kind of fluorescent blue, just far too bright, not friendly on the eyes at all.

OldYorkMum · 18/09/2025 19:29

Holy hell, just went on the web browser to see what was going on (usually use the app).

Unusable.

I think this is different. A lot of us are finding the new blue headache triggering.

Triggering must be the must overused word on MN in its history. And I stand by my post, people primarily like to complain about change for the sake of it. In a couple of weeks it will all die down.

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 18/09/2025 19:34

Personally I’m a Luddite who dislikes change so it’s going to bother me for a while I expect. The previous colour scheme was gentler on the eyes.

RNApolymerase · 18/09/2025 19:36

When l click on active and see the list of threads all in the very bright blue it is hard to read.
