I dislike the new site for several reasons.
I prefer the colour blocks for OP & own posts, & it's difficult to read if you have less than perfect eyesight.

YANBU You agree with me

YABU I'm a Luddite who hates change & MN are right.

OP posts:
boatyardblues · 18/09/2025 19:37

I’m finding the new colour scheme uncomfortable to read. I have an eye condition which means I can’t switch to dark mode to skirt the issue. Was this current make-over subjected to any accessibility testing?

spannasaurus · 18/09/2025 19:47

The washed out colours are making the site difficult to read

GailBlancheViola · 18/09/2025 19:55

TickyandTacky · 18/09/2025 19:32

Triggering must be the must overused word on MN in its history. And I stand by my post, people primarily like to complain about change for the sake of it. In a couple of weeks it will all die down.

So happy to dismiss those with with conditions that this change is detrimental to, nice to know. How kind and inclusive.

Cherrysoup · 18/09/2025 20:12

It’s far too bright, no matter what colour you choose for OP/your own posts, it isn’t obvious and it’s giving me a headache.

Whateverwillwedonow · 18/09/2025 20:18

I haven’t voted because I’m not overly fussed either way.
Agree with pp who said each change we get lots of posts like these until people get used to it and then they forget. However I feel for those who get migraines. I don’t but I have dyslexia and the brightness really made it hard to read so I’m on dark mode.

Vaxtable · 18/09/2025 20:23

It’s horrible. MN comments were in blue, what are they now? And when you post it’s a revolting apricot beige colour!

CherieBabySpliffUp · 18/09/2025 20:29

I use dark mode and I don't like everything blending into 1 colour.

Redheadedstepchild · 18/09/2025 20:45

No. Not keen. I'm trying dark mode but it's not really any better. Another thing. I seem to be getting annoying drop down ads at the top of the page now.

Would love to stay and chat longer but my eyes are going swoggly.

3pears · 18/09/2025 20:46

I clicked yabu by mistake and it won’t let me change it! I don’t like it, the contrast is awful

OK. A lot of us are finding it brings on headaches. Is that better?

You obviously find the word triggering triggering 😁

EchoedSilence · 18/09/2025 20:50

I've changed my bright pink to grey in settings on my laptop.

unlikelychump · 18/09/2025 20:53

How do you get dark mode on on the webversion? Icant work it out

You see your little icon top right? Tap/click and drop down and crescent moon dark mode is about five or six down.

Not that it helps much. It's just a different kind of awful. My eyes! My eyes!

It does still let you change it, but it's not as obvious when you have as it used to be.

TheSpiritofDarkandLonelyWater · 18/09/2025 21:32

I am struggling with not being able to distinguish between my posts and others. They are all the same now.

RockItLikeRocketFuel · 18/09/2025 21:33

I don't mind the blue but the colour options for highlighting OP posts and your own (you can change them in settings) are all so pastel it's hard to distingush from the background white. It wasn't broken, didn't need fixing.

MaryBeery · 19/09/2025 06:36

I hardly ever use active, so wasn't entirely sure what the fuss about the brightness was until I went and had a look just now, but the wishywashy pastel colours for highlighting the OP's or your own posts are virtually useless. No, a very faint peach is not magenta, and the green and blue aren't vastly different. Give us back the original colours and add the pastels as alternative options.

Simonjt · 19/09/2025 06:39

As someone who is colour blind some of the links etc are hard to see as I can’t tell what colour they are. I know colour schemes like this often make it harder for tech that some visually impaired people use.

So I would be interesting to see what work was done to ensure those with visual impairments don’t have issue accessing .

MyTwoSense · 19/09/2025 06:40

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 18/09/2025 18:19

There's a neon tinge to the OP and my own posts which hurts my eyes. If it ain't broke don't fix it!!

Same. I dont like it 😟

Gatekeeper · 19/09/2025 06:42

The actual white background appears a lot brighter as well. Really dislike it

landlordhell · 19/09/2025 06:44

Do t care about the colours, just wish it would stop jumping about and lose the ads!

GeniuneWorkOfFart · 19/09/2025 06:45

It's just too bright. That blue hurts my eyes and my soul

The whole thing looks like a 90s Tesco Value version of Mumsnet.
