To think netflix is a waste of money

Controversial but do people like netflix?

Reasons why would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

What about your reasons OP?

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 16/09/2025 06:31

The best approach I’ve found is to cycle through them all - few months of Netflix. Few months of Disney. And so on.

In our house Netflix is the gateway to Paw Patrol, but things may be different for you if you don’t have preschoolers!

Chickenintheoven · 16/09/2025 06:31

Depends what you like watching????

if it’s the kind of things you like to watch - it’s good - if it’s not - don’t buy it!

trial month is usually free or really cheap if not sure.

InterestedDad37 · 16/09/2025 06:32

I get it 'free' with my phone contract, and I can always find something I want to watch. Previously paid for it, and would be very happy to do so again. And I'm quite a discerning viewer, I don't watch brainless shite 👍

YouMightThinkThat · 16/09/2025 06:33

Presumably if people didn't like Netflix they wouldn't pay the subscription. It's not compulsory.
You can't really just say you 'don't like Netflix' - that doesn't make sense. There is so much content on there. What is it you don't like? Your OP is very weird.

Itsnottheheatitsthehumidity · 16/09/2025 06:34

I prefer Netflix to Disney but I find I’ve watched everything I want to on Netflix, then bounce to Disney for a classic film or Bob’s Burgers episodes. Netflix seriously need new content at the moment. The quality has dipped recently.

SoManyDandelions · 16/09/2025 06:35

We can always find something to watch on Netflix. We're a family of 4 with two teens. If we couldn't, we'd just cancel the contract!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/09/2025 06:35

Adolescence is on Netflix which is why we went back.
we now get it free with broadband, along with NOW TV, and i pay minimal amount for Disney ...
we have a lot of choice currently.

Readyforslippers · 16/09/2025 06:40

We've had pur money's worth from Octonauts, Kpop Demon hunters and Izzys koala world.

Shr3dding · 16/09/2025 06:40

How could it be controversial not to like a particular steaming service. Who cares what anyone else thinks netflix?

Put your grownup pants on and just decide if you want to subscribe

BleinhamOrange · 16/09/2025 06:43

I think it is a waste of money so I don’t subscribe. Isn’t that how these things normally work?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/09/2025 06:43

i would cancel,
just as soon as you do, mark my words, something will arrive that will make you want to subscribe!

greengreyblue · 16/09/2025 06:46

I find it frustrating when I remember an old film I want to watch and you have to pay for it but quite a new release is included. Don’t watch it very often tbh and could go without it.

NoisyLittleOtter · 16/09/2025 06:46

Thankfully it’s not compulsory to subscribe.
I barely watch any TV so it wouldn’t be worth paying the subscription for me, however my teens and tweens always seem to find something to watch on there (currently series 2 of Wednesday).

x2boys · 16/09/2025 06:49

Well yeah obviously some people do otherwise they wouldn't subscribe but it's not compulsory if you don't like it don't subscribe.

JustStopItNorasaurus · 16/09/2025 06:50

We watch alot of films as DS1 is a keen cinephile. (Plus..Stranger Things!!).

Definitely get our moneys worth.

This is what I do. Tbh I mainly seem to get free trials from my phone three months of apple / Disney/ Netflix then I cancel and move on.

BallerinaRadio · 16/09/2025 06:55

Do you have an puff piece article about Netflix to write or something?

If you like the shows on there you'll subscribe, if you don't you won't. Nothing controversial whatsoever 🙄

ruffler45 · 16/09/2025 07:15

A few years ago tried for a month found nothing of interest, left it a couple of years tried again still nothing of interest not tried it since.

SparklingRivers · 16/09/2025 07:18

Paying for the version without adverts is definitely a waste. There's a decent range of shows on there though and it's much cheaper than a TV licence.

Newmum738 · 16/09/2025 07:19

Personally, I would be happy with the TV streaming apps. My DH loves American TV though so he is a Netflix fan.

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 16/09/2025 07:20

Full of trashy crap.

OneChicRoseRobin · 16/09/2025 07:26

For me it’s only worth keeping if you’re actually using it every week—otherwise it’s basically a very expensive background app.

heloobyeee111111111 · 16/09/2025 07:46

I don’t like it either. I pay mainly to binge watch friends (I have it on constantly in the background, when I’m doing house work) and the odd good documentary. Apart from that it’s rubbish. No good films at all, and hardly any good documentaries. I should probably cancel.

BadActingParsley · 16/09/2025 07:46

We get it free with sky, a surprise to us so worth checking if you have sky. Don’t watch it that much, the films are rubbish. Watch more Disney now…..
