To think Keir Starmer is looking more ridiculous by the day

I've just seen an interview with Keir Starmer talking in riddles. If he knew then what he knew now then this mess wouldn't have happened. Three hour debate about it tomorrow in Parliament. Surely his time is up. But if a lefty takes over it might be worse.

Agree with this. Who do you send to negotiate with Trump? Not a good, straight down the line guy…

When you sup with the devil you need a long spoon.

He is much better than recent Tory leaders, which is a plus. However, he does not seem to 'do politics', perhaps because of his background as a chief executive of sorts.

I don't expect him to be Labour leader and Prime Minister by the time of the next general election.

He'll be gone after next May local elections, if not before, but I can't see there being a general election before 2029. Reform are challenging Welsh Labour for the Senedd and have a good chance. The Welsh electorate is pretty apathetic with low turn out, but they certainly turned out for Brexit and I think they will next May.

Yabu

not remotely embarrassing, reading this it’s so funny people can’t remember Johnson, or that Truss madness.

Christ, Starmer would have to strip naked and fuck a goat on Pall Mall to equal the last two terms of Tory government

Didn't illegally prorogue parliament-Johnson
Didn't produce a budget that destroyed the nations finances-Truss
Brexit-Cameron

I could go on

You lost me at 'a lefty'.

Do we have 'a righty' alternative?

Don't disagree with you at all. Embarrassing for the British people.

We’ve had 14 years of embarrassing leaders asset stripping the country. He’s not perfect but this was never going to be easy.

I agree. He's an embarrassment and the Labour Party are a sinking ship. His time is up ...tick tock.

I’ve just watched the interview. In what way was he talking in riddles? That’s the way politicians talk. Have you ever listened before?

He's just doing what his handlers are telling him to do.

You are actually spot on there. He's just a puppet...and it shows

RuttleTuttle · 15/09/2025 18:34

Starmer/Reeves are doing their own damage to the economy.

People voted for Brexit. How was it Cameron's fault? He campaigned for Remain.

Proroguing Parliament did no harm.

Of course it was Cameron's fault. It was down to him that there was a referendum and the campaign was badly misjudged and executed.

ilovesooty · 15/09/2025 19:11

randomchap · 15/09/2025 18:38

Did no harm? Lying in the houses of Parliament and to the queen. Undermining democracy? Did no harm

Give over

If we've got to the stage where people seriously think there was no harm in Johnson lying to the monarch, I wonder about the judgement of the electorate.

Reform has no chance of getting the majority they would need to run Senedd. All the polling points to a PC/Labour coalition being the most likely outcome.

The nation voted for Brexit. Cameron campaigned and cautioned against it. Jeremy Corbyn, whom Starmer supported, put in a very lacklustre performance for Remain.
I’m at a loss as to why anyone thinks this government has been better for the economy than Truss. Gilt yields are higher than during the Truss mini budget peak. Growth is stalling. Businesses are holding off on investment, multinationals are cancelling projects, farms are closing at a record rate, unemployment is rising. The £22bn black hole labour wittered on about has ballooned to £40bn because of their own dreadful policies. So tell me, how was Truss worse?

No. It was in the Tory manifesto. Which people voted for.

I think after the the last 14 years we've endured he can have a bit more time

Sorry, have you noticed how bad things have been in the space of year? Infact how much worse they’ve got since Labour took over? How many of their election promises have they gone back on? Remember they promised £300 off everyone’s energy bills for example? Mine certainly haven’t gone down. How about the budget deficit? That seems to have grown massively since they took over. What about their promise not to increase taxes on working people? If this is how bad things get within the space of just over a year, then I don’t want them in power for another thirteen years, let alone another four.

That’s the way bad politicians talk. The public don’t generally like it.

Nigel Farage is, it pains me to admit, an excellent politician. And he certainly does not talk like that.

We’re all doomed.

Shush with your actual financial markets knowledge!

And obviously, Labour's raising of employers' NI contributions has been brilliant for the employment market!

You missed out Sunak who was the previous PM. Why is that?

RuttleTuttle · 15/09/2025 19:22

And all businesses, who let's remember keep the economy going, are stoked for Labour's employees bill. They definitely won't be hiring fewer people as a result!
