So here we are- they have a suspect.
The very little we know about his politics suggests he was likely to be right wing, and came from a family/ culture that supported Trump. He also is said to be an introvert, in to video games , and possibly quite mentally unwell.

So there we have it- fancy that - when you live in a context where people have access to guns and some minority of people are not well, people get shot.

Nothing to do with the evils of the “left”. Nothing to do with trans people or “trans ideology”. Just senseless violence, because people who are not well have access to guns.

So what are we going to take/ learn from this?

It’s right to be cynical when the news sources have already put out lies they claim to have been told by alleged “law enforcement” sources.

A law enforcement source told the Wall Street Journal that the bullets found had pro trans ideology engraved on them. This was confirmed to be false when the Utah Governor read out the bullet engravings at the recent press conference.

Engage your brain please. Mud sticks and the truth won’t matter if people already believe the lies told when the news was hot. You need to realise that you are being manipulated and American law enforcement is as corrupt as they come. Read the book “Just Mercy” if you want to get an idea of the lengths the American justice system will go to prevent justice if the truth doesn’t serve their agenda.

That was clearly their interpretation at the time, it obviously wasn’t false that there were bullet engravings 🙄 someone leaked to Steven Crowder.

No glee here, I feel sorry for his poor children losing their father. I don't feel the world has lost anything though, he preached nothing but hate. I do suspect his death will lead more people towards the right though he's their martyr now

I do feel sorry for his children and it is sad. But I find it odd, that someone that appears to have been relatively unknown in the UK has featured so heavily in the news this week. Also the right wing event in london this weekend. Is it me or does it feel strange that the rise of the right has escalated since Ukraine? It feels like someone is pulling the strings so we're not focusing on what is happening elsewhere. For example Poland this week?? Article 4. Is someone trying to divide ready for what comes next? Am I being silly or paranoid? Xx

You find it weird that our society is now deeply influenced by American culture and politics? Have you had your head in a bucket? Our kids are constantly streaming American content through their screens. 5 year olds are coming to school with American accents and yet the family and friends have no American connection. My child said to-mate-toes to me yesterday and was flabbergasted. He said all his friends say it like that 🤦🏻‍♀️

We also have Farage firmly ensconced up the arsehole of Trump and Elon Mysk routinely commenting on our politics on X. The two countries are becoming intertwined and it’s very bad indeed.

Actually thinking back the BLM marches were triggered by George Floyd being killed by an American policeman and we don’t even have their long background of slavery and civil war and yet still our young people were claiming the same victimisation as their black counterparts. Our history was totally different!!! That’s how entrenched we are.

I’m sure you’d be happy for AI to incorrectly summarise things about you as fact, so long as it got your name right.

That might be your standard of research but please don’t come on here and use AI as a source and expect it to be accepted.

On this I agree. AI should never be used as an end summary, at the very most it should be used as a useful guide to original sources.

AI is a people pleasing tool. It works by scraping the internet. That is why inaccurate statesmen’s like the IP made should always be challenged. That’s why when people tell you to “google it” you should be very careful. AI is data driven, that data can be easily manipulated.AI is a cancer in society.

Multiply that by hundreds of thousands for a genocide….but silence 🤷‍♀️

Silence? I’m going to assume you’re referring to Palestine. It’s all anyone talks about. It’s in the news multiple times of the day, it’s all over this forum and social media.

Im shocked at what is happening in Palestine but silence is what describes the noise relating to thousands of Christian’s being slaughtered in the Congo.

I was thinking of that exact case. Purely coincidentally I had signed up to reddit that week and was amazed to watch that in real time. Any replies I made to say "hang on this seems unlikely " just got me downvoted and banned.

Yup. "Read the Wikipedia talk page" is also a fun game with emerging controversies.

Head in a bucket- nope, I would love to have my head in a bucket, I have noted the rise of the far right alongside the war in Ukraine, i find it odd that Poland called art 4 this week and that Charlie Kirk has featured more heavily. I actually live down the road from an American air base, so the area i have grown up in was far more entrenched with American culture before the rise of social media.

Feelingleftoutagain · 14/09/2025 10:32

So what about the transperson he was living with, who is helping the FBI? At the end of the day 2 children are now growing up not knowing their dad, they will see comments and the videos people have posted, and the really foul thing is that they will either see or be shown a video of their dad being shot instead of being political think about those poor kids!

Dannydevitoiloveyourart · 14/09/2025 10:32

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 14/09/2025 10:18

But it is not saying that the FBI confirmed anything in an official press statements. It is clear that this is a law enforcement source. This is the way journalists get information before official statements.

Journalists have sought information which backs this up, information from family/friends/public records and social media

A law enforcement source confirmed to the New York Post that Robinson was living with Twiggs, who was in the process of transitioning from male to female. Public records also show that the two resided at the same address. The FBI has confirmed they were in a romantic relationship.

If AI meant that an FBI source had confirmed it then it should have said so explicitly as that is a completely different statement. Saying “The FBI has confirmed” is an unequivocal statement of fact, suggesting official confirmation of the organisation’s position.

Common sense suggests so, I’d agree with you.

If common sense is to be applied to this senseless and horrific shooting, as are all shootings, then it would appear that the killer was a groyper, with extremist right wing views.

100% agree, it’s not unusual to hear young kids mentioning dollars rather than pounds. We need to take back our history and culture and ensure that this is properly taught in schools. We need to ensure that children know we aren’t America and have very different politics, history and culture. However, they are close allies with some similar problems to ours.

Edit wars are rife, but Wikipedia is too biased for me to bother with on anything political/ideological.

What I find particularly irritating is that any attempt to talk about Kirk’s views and the dangers they present seems to be immediatly challenged as being “gleeful” or disrespectful. As if the fact that he has been appallingly murdered has given his views a free pass. And those of us on the left seem to be expected to take the outrageous MAGA rhetoric about his death and who his murderer was without challenge.

The inscriptions were in the scarcely comprehensible language of an introvert:
Oh well a reliable source then. Nice to know all us introverts are scarcely comprehensible.

Was just thinking the same. Those pesky introverts, eh? Maladjusted gun-toting psychos the lot of them. 🙄

Precisely because you insist they represent a ‘danger’ - they don’t. He was a man with opinions. If you don’t agree, ignore him. What’s so dangerous?

The claims about the bullets are online rumours

They are not. They come from law enforcement and the charging documents.

Just finished a great book on this topic, This is not America by Tomiwa Owolade. He explains how the British context is very different to the American one.
