Thread 2 Turn your son in knowing he’d get the death penalty

Idinnaenah · 13/09/2025 10:11

1st thread is full - this is to continue the convo. My original question is below:

’Kirk’s killer has apparently been turned in by his family - or persuaded to hand himself in.
Trump &’his supporters have been very vocal about getting the death penalty for the shooter.
would YOU hand your child over, knowing that the electric chair would be the likely outcome?

YANBU - I wouldn’t turn him in to die.
YABU - I would he’s a killer and deserves all he gets

You are adding to the problems. Your loathing on social media isn’t a plus.

Loathing on social media? I post nothing on social media…this is the only thing close to a public forum and it is an anonymous comment with no content.

dont be silly

@Idinnaenah

i have posted a couple of times, yes I would hand them in as they are adults and therefore understand what the consequences would be

plus it’s better than having them hung drawn and quartered any a rent a mob as he would be found at some point

however it’s obvious from this post you didn’t like CK or his views, nor did I most of them, and you have the right to object to them. However to then use a derogatory term such as MAGA Barbie about a grieving widow, who saw her husband shot, who has two kids to now look afteris not on

shame on you

Mn is social media and people are posting content.

MAGA Barbie nonsense which you appreciated is all part of the problem.

As a woman "carrying on his work" would be her staying at home and looking after their kids

WhereIsMyJumper · 13/09/2025 15:07

HRTQueen · 13/09/2025 11:09

This isn’t about being on the left or right of politics

both sides have good empathetic people and both sides have people who are not

and most sit in the middle and again people of the same traits sit there

social media allows this lack of empathy l, the anger and hatred to be stirred to higher levels than ever before and creates division and it’s so damaging to humanity

Agreed.
But then all this was said on the first thread and was ignored with insults being flung from both ‘sides’
God knows why another one was started

WhereIsMyJumper · 13/09/2025 15:17

I wish these threads could be flooded with rational posts from both sides of the argument - with all the emotion taken out. It would massively change the tone.

Aren’t the left tolerant and kind? Her husband’s been murdered in front of her and their two small children, you wouldn’t dream of kicking her while she’s down…

Oh, wait. It’s all performative with you. Talk a nice line in caring and compassion but mean none of it.

A woman who had just seen her husband shot in front of her two young kids, is angry and lashing out and she's being condemned for her 'tone' and not being 'more hands across the aisle'?!

Ok then.

I think she might be the one (and only) person I would forgive for being 'hateful' at this point in her life tbh.

UnhappyHobbit · 13/09/2025 18:04

Idinnaenah · 13/09/2025 11:02

I’m not the left. MAGA Barbie’s a a demographic. And I find it hard to feel for anyone coming out and making a speech like that - but then they are evangelical Christian’s so for them revenge and fire and brimstone are par for the course.

I’m really struggling to understand some of the conversations here. People say they’re not on the left, which is fine, but the moment anyone shows empathy toward someone on the right, purely from a human standpoint, before politics even comes into it, they’re immediately branded as “MAGA supporters” or far-right sympathisers. That kind of labelling feels unfair and shuts down any chance of honest discussion.

She's not "lashing out" out of mere grief, she's using her husband's death as a call for violence and civil war: "You have no idea what you have just unleashed across the entire country" - what normal, sane person says that?

In fairness, she could mean it will have unleashed a swell of support for turning point usa/republican politics. And she’s probably not wrong. She may well not have meant violence or revenge and I didn’t read it that way but accept I might be wrong.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 13/09/2025 18:54

Who is normal and sane after watching their husband be shot dead in front of their child? I wouldn’t be.

This.

And she's being vilified from the off by people. The use of the phrase 'Maga Barbie's is the give away.

I guarantee that she'd have been slammed for whatever she did tbh.

'You have no idea what you have unleashed', doesn't necessarily mean a call for violence. It could be a rallying call for the right on political determination rather than violence. Just in language that appeals to her target audience better than softer language.

Genuinely the softer language is for others and tbh she's exceptionally vulnerable to manipulation from that around her right now.

She's dealing with her own grief and trauma and that of her young kids as well as his supporter and political allies.

I still feel for even if she is saying rallying others.

Judgement comes at a later date.

Cos I'm not a twat.

I also would be in pieces if my husband got shot just a few hours before, not capable of standing and reading a very long and detailed speech for about 15 minutes. It seems rehearsed and probably written by maga speech writers. I don't believe anything these people say and do, everything is "for the fascist cause".

His parent … Gun-Toting, Plastic “Christian”, Republicans … probably big fans of the Death Penalty.

How long until they tell us that their Son has been possessed by Demons or The Devil, due to LGBT people existing?

Disgusting comment

Well no, but I’m assuming you’re not married to a popular (to many whether you like it or not) political commentator/activist/personality with the backing of the President of the United States.

ILikeDinosaurs · 13/09/2025 19:22

It absolutely does. Violence is the far right's MO. And her husband's belief that some people are just collateral damage for the 2nd amdmt so violence is OK by them (he should get a Darwin award for that one btw).

It could be a rallying call for the right on political determination rather than violence. Just in language that appeals to her target audience better than softer language.

Yes - violence, you just said it yourself.

Judgement comes at a later date.

No, it comes now. Because the far right (including her) are using his death as a rallying cry and calling out for war. Because people who are criticising Kirk/not toeing the Magat line are being sacked, like teachers, professors, TV presenters. No one is allowed to critise Kirk or his views it seems. It is Fascism. When CAN we judge them then, when everyone is dead?

It’s people celebrating his death, not criticising him. That’s very different.

I don’t agree with them being sacked but I also suspect the same people who very publicly celebrated him being murdered would have no compunction in cancelling others for much less.

Sacked for celebrating his death. Not for criticising his rhetoric.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 13/09/2025 19:35

Sacked for celebrating his death. Not for criticising his rhetoric.

Not all of them. Some of them were merely quoting him, like his heartwarming empathy quote, or his quotes about black people or about his daughter, or about guns, but that was not liked by Maga and they had to shut it down.

It's like they just know his words don't match up to what they want to portray him as. They want to eulogise him as a saint but, somehow, his own words gave him away as to how un-saintly he actually was!

BTW, this is allowed on tv (Fox news) by the Maggots -'Just Kill 'Em': Fox Host Makes Shocking Comment On Homeless People

He said he preferred sympathy to empathy. Again, I disagreed with most of what he said but it does feel like people are taking some of what he said out of context.

DiscoBeat · 13/09/2025 21:09

He would have been caught anyway, 100%. Maybe the sentence will be less (eg life without parole) for handing himself in?

Idinnaenah · 13/09/2025 12:51

I’d be surprised, remember Kirk’s whole spiel was Women, submit to your men, women need to stay home and have children , men are the natural leaders - being his widow will only get her so far with the rest of the men in that organisation.

You’d think you’d re-examine your priors after seeing what a strong, determined woman Kirk married.

But no. You’d rather just smear her too.
