Just that really? I hadn’t and wondering if I’m the only one. And why is it such a big story? I guess the association with trump. What would be the equivalent level of fame over here?

Yes, but only relatively recently as he’d appear on debates with a guy who’s page would come up on my instagram reels. Never outside of that setting.

JudithDunbar · 11/09/2025 22:01

Yes I first came across him a couple of years ago. He was just so decent, that is why he stood out in this depraved era.

What part of believing that a 10 year old pregnant rape victim should be made to carry the child to term and give birth is "just so decent". It sounds pretty depraved to me

Themagicfarawaytreeismyfav · 11/09/2025 22:14

Yes i watched him on insta and tik tok

whattheysay · 11/09/2025 22:14

Yes I’ve seen him online quite a bit I’m 50

indoorplantqueen · 11/09/2025 22:15

Yes I knew who he was and had watched a lot of his video clips.

Sometimeswinning · 11/09/2025 22:15

Dramatic · 11/09/2025 22:09

But why give him the grace that he wasn't willing to give for anyone else? Including school kids who died in school shootings?

Same as many people who believe in the death penalty, some innocent people will die. Drugs being legalised, some innocent people will die. Letting asylum seekers stay and live freely some women may be raped or assaulted.

Things come with a risk. Freedom comes with a risk. That’s what he said. In America it’s considered their right to carry a gun. That comes at a price.

popcornandpotatoes · 11/09/2025 22:15

FKAT · 11/09/2025 22:11

I'm not clear what you are saying? Did you mean Charlie Kirk said he would be happy to be shot for his views because he believed in freedom to bear arms? Have you got a citation for that?

He said gun deaths were worth it for the right to bear arms. So yes that is essentially what he believed

TheJoyOfWriting · 11/09/2025 22:16

Ddakji · 11/09/2025 21:32

I hadn’t but DD had.

It’s shocking because it’s a political assassination of someone who is essentially a private citizen, ie not a politician or elected official.

He was super involved in politics though, as Trump's right hand man recruiting youth via Turning Point.

I agree it's shocking.

Gingercatlover · 11/09/2025 22:16

I had not but my 14 year old daughter knew all about him.

There is a difference between what people consider to be acceptable risk and encouraging violence. We know there are deaths due to driving accidental and also ramming, (we saw children mowed down in ghe bastille day attacks) we accept that risk to enable the majority to travel in vehicles. I disagree with him vehemently on guns but there is a difference between saying people should have guns to protect themselves from tyranny and encouraging murder.

NCReceptor · 11/09/2025 22:16

Yes though I didn’t especially follow him. It’s impossible to overstate how influential he was within US politics generally and specifically with young people.
That so many middle aged and older haven’t heard of him reflects the failings of establishment media who failed to cover him in any way commensurate with his importance.

Staggering that some people on this thread are seemingly ok with him being killed for his views rather than doing what Kirk championed - engaging in dialogue with those who disagree with your views.
Disagree with his views by arguing with him - not killing him or excusing his murder.

Thank you for summarising some of the things I’d seen reported, I’m genuinely confused by the numbers here saying he was intelligence respectful

He was also a rape apologist.

Thank you for asking this question!! (I have been too embarrassed to say "who?" and "so?"

No I disagree. This does not mean you can just stand up and start say “ i hate insert racist term for a group of people’ and claiming ‘free speech’ sounds very hitler-esque to me. That’s not how civilised societies work. Actions and words have consequences.

Good grief, this is possibly the worst thing I’ve ever read on here. Yes expressing views can have consequences but when people say that they’re not saying “fair enough if you get murdered”- they’re saying you might lose friends or a platform, not your life. Absolutely shocking,

Cleopatcher · 11/09/2025 22:16

Also, the leftie maniac that took this man's life has caused unnecessary, horrific trauma to not only his two innocent children but also to billions of children across the world that will have seen the footage.

Well done mate, what a hero you are.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 11/09/2025 22:17

Yes. I'm 48 and have seen his content. Some of his views were appalling imho.

However, just because his opinions differed from mine, I don't think he deserved to be shot.

The irony that he believed the amount of gun deaths were worth it, just to keep the right the bear arms, well, I'm sure the irony isn't lost on a lot of people.

He was still a husband and dad at the end of the day.

Goneback2school · 11/09/2025 22:17

I had, as had my 20 year old. My 12 year old did not know who he was but has seen what he described as a blurry video of it.

Or saying that stoning gay men to death for sex was an example of 'God's perfect law for sexual matters.

Or saying women over 30 were unattractive and 'past their prime' and women on the Pi are automatically 'crazy and bitter.'

Whateverwillwedonow · 11/09/2025 22:17

Yes, I don’t agree with anything that he said (anti women, anti abortion, racist and pro guns) but don’t take pleasure in his death obviously.

I’m shocked that a quite feminist website has so many posters that hadn’t heard of him

StinkyCheeseMoose · 11/09/2025 22:17

I had and I have watched his videos, but I didn't realise until last night the extent of his influence and importance. I agree with a lot of what he says, but not everything.

He was a very clever and articulate speaker and always respectful, even to people who were hateful and abusive.

I think America has lost a good man.

The massive difference here is that cars are a mode of transportation, guns are literally made to kill or severely injure. He thought gun deaths were worth it, therefore his own death was worth it in his own words.

I’m glad you’ve solved the crime

rickyrickygrimes · 11/09/2025 22:20

Yes. I watched several of his debates on Twitter. His debating style was rational, calm and logical: we need more that. His views were often the polar opposite of mine, but I abhor the idea that he deserved to die for holding those views.

so we can put you in the racist, misogynist, islamophobe, rape apologist, pro-israel camp along with everyone else who compares abortion to the Holocaust.

Thanks for the heads up!
