Mumsnet censorship

1000 replies

anonymouselephantx · 11/09/2025 11:38

Mumsnet has been deleting any comment at all that criticises Charlie Kirk... just because he has died does not mean he is infallible. He is still an evil person who did and said evil things, contributed to so much suffering of families at the hands of ICE etc., mocked the Palestinians undergoing a genocide? Mumsnet, disturbing much? I had to get MN by email to delete a thread of mine as I was getting bullied and people were making personal attacks against me (the talk guidelines say personal attacks will be deleted, yet I had to BEG for this), but they are censoring anything anyone says about Charlie Kirk? Why are we not allowed to have freedom of speech and freedom to debate, especially when it is someone who did and said SO MUCH EVIL!

It’s considered good manners to leave it a few weeks at least.

look, I’d never heard of the bloke before today.

but I don’t approve of violence under (almost) any circumstances and believe me I am finding your posts almost viscerally disgusting.

Why is it good manners to leave it a few weeks before commenting on his beliefs? This is not a level of understanding he ever showed to others?

MorningLarkEchoes · 11/09/2025 12:35

I reported quite a few posts yesterday OP. Some of them were quite frankly disgusting, with some posters clearly rejoicing at his death. It seems that some mumsnetters think he deserved what happened because they don’t agree with some of the opinions he held.

Quite sickening really, considering a lot of these people are probably parents. Wonder how Charlie’s two little girls are coping today in the aftermath of what’s happened? Not only is there a video of the actual murder of their father on the internet, there are comments from people saying they are glad it happened and laughing about it. I hope they don’t see it when they are older.

I saw a post by The Guffian on Facebook today about it and the majority of reactions to the post were laughing emojis. So much for the caring left. It seems we have moved on from cancelling people we don’t agree with.

What a sick world we live in.

Agreed, it's sickening.

And people like you are the reason why my British passport husband has to spend hours in queues at European airports while I get to waltz right in with my Irish passport! Enjoy reform! I hope you get me deported back to Ireland.

If all you have to worry about is that your Dh and thousands more I might add, have to wait to go through customs in a foreign country, while you can waltz through, you have a very charmed life haven’t you?

For God's sake. The man was odious but he didn't deserve to be shot.

He was a racist and a mysoginist. "Reject feminism and submit to your husband"
www.mediamatters.org/charlie-kirk/charlie-kirk-tells-taylor-swift-submit-your-husband-and-have-ton-children

Since when were racism and misogyny punishable by death?

RingoJuice · 11/09/2025 12:59

Whoever shot him was evil. Kirk was a peaceful conservative activist, your hatred is so obvious

Megifer · 11/09/2025 12:59

Imagine being ok with someone being killed because you disagree with their views, and still thinking you're clearly a better person than them 🙃

The op has called him evil. That is not commenting on his beliefs, it is attacking someone who has been murdered.

It isn't rocket science to see it is crass and revolting to attack someone who has just been murdered surely?

He showed understanding to others just disagreed with some people but he was always happy to debate issues and did so politely. Unlike many.

I have no idea who Charlie Kirk is (I must be living under a rock) but the comments around his death are particularly unpleasant.

Don't agree with his politics fine but there is a family mourning their husband, son, father it isn't the time to gloat and say he deserved it and it's karma.

Those children will need serious therapy after seeing their Dad shot dead in front of them. How can anyone say that's okay!

#BeKind unless it is someone who has different views to you seems to be many lefties life goals.

lifeturnsonadime · 11/09/2025 13:03

OP there is nothing wrong with expressing that you disagreed with his views. Many many posters have done that respectfully.

Your posts are not respectful and are not simply criticising his views.

Perhaps start by ditching the Hitler comparisons. Being glad that someone has been assassinated because of their 'hateful' views is not a good look.

Some would consider it hateful.

IGaveSoManySigns · 11/09/2025 13:04

I personally see it as quite ironic that the same people who will happily slag off innocent people being killed in conflicts globally now think we need to pretend that Charlie Kirk was a nice person.

His death is tragic and it is wrong, nobody should be killed in the way he was, in front of his children. That doesn’t mean I now need to agree with his opinions, nor do I need to pretend his opinions were pleasant.

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 11/09/2025 13:06

Weird how many right-wingers are suddenly quite comfortable with politicising US gun violence. Usually all we hear are "thoughts and prayers".

I didn’t agree with most, if not all, of what Charlie Kirk said.

But it doesn’t matter what his opinions were. It doesn’t matter how pleasant or unpleasant anyone found them.

It doesn’t matter if he once said x, y or z.

He had every right to his opinions. He had every right to express his opinions. And he had every right to not be murdered for them.

Lindos1 · 11/09/2025 13:10

How have we got to a stage where 'if you disagree with me, you're evil/ Nazi/ far -right/ fascist'?
I know plenty of very academically educated people IRL who think like this.
Sounds like such a tantrum.
Absolutely baffling.

Op if you want a non-censored forum your best looking at reddit.

Lol at the very idea that Reddit isn't censored, they've literally deleted every single forum that advocates for women's single sex rights. It's the most overtly censored space I've ever posted in tbh

Who has said you must pretend he was a nice person? He may or may not have been, all we know is his views which while may be different to yours does not make him 'nice' or 'not nice'.

He debated politely without vitriol and bile, something those jubilant over his murder could learn from.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 11/09/2025 13:12

Killing someone because you don’t agree with their opinions is evil

celebrating or justifying their death is pretty fucked up
