If you have to treat yourself to something nice

If you have to treat yourself to little something nice, what do you do?
I got myself some dark chocolate batons from hotel Chocolat and some nachos and salsa from M&S.
I totally love M&S food, but only go there to get some treats.
How about you?

A new book.

Katemax82 · 10/09/2025 20:13

For me it would be some really nice fresh pasta or an Aldi goats cheese pizza, with a nice iced coffee
Or a packet of macarons all to myself

Katemax82 · 10/09/2025 20:13

Or a nice inexpensive perfume or a scented candle

Praying4Peace · 10/09/2025 20:15

Tea with scone and clotted cream in my local tea shop

Dangermoos · 10/09/2025 20:16

Chanel No 5

BerfyTigot · 10/09/2025 20:17

Bubble bath. I like Fenjal and Badedas. Can usually get them on a deal so around a fiver. Otherwise M and S handwash.

Pipersouth · 10/09/2025 20:18

On single McDonald’s milkshake - just love them but can’t justify that sort of calories!!

Sweettreet · 10/09/2025 20:20

I am looking forward to trying some of the autumn flavours coffees launched at Starbucks as a treat for myself

Sorry, didn't read your OP properly. A meal for one with a bottle of wine deal.

This is a nice thread. The chocolate batons are a good idea.

I like a lip balm, socks, flowers, some chocolate like Tony's chocolonely.

Nomorecoconutboosts · 10/09/2025 20:23

a slice of takeaway cake from local bakery
a mini bottle of cava from M&S

Greendiamondbee · 10/09/2025 20:24

Skinny chai and cinnamon bun in Nero's with a good book. By myself - heavenly

Sweettreet · 10/09/2025 20:24

Loving all the different ideas, will try some of them.

New paperback (better yet, a charity shop book purchase!), then an hour or so to read with a really good cup of coffee or a pot of tea in a comfy cafe chair. Failing that, an Audible audiobook, a small tray of baklava, or some old-school crumbly fudge.

AhBiscuits · 10/09/2025 20:24

I like cook books. I have loads but enjoy flicking through them and maybe making the odd thing.

Namechangedfortheterfasaurs · 10/09/2025 20:25

A really nice soap - one of those ones that comes wrapped in heavy printed paper - and then run a bath and open it straight away.

SquaredPaper · 10/09/2025 20:27

Flowers. A man sells loose flowers at the farmers’ market — I got an armful of café au lait dahlias for a fiver last weekend. Or a plant (I especially like fragrant plants), bulbs, or a book.

I would love that but have got a baby in tow so, just managing with an audiobook.

Supermarket flowers.

I hated them for years, because I got them at every gift giving occasion. It's only since becoming single I've realised what I actually hated was the zero thought, tick box with something from the Supermarket on the way home gifting. Now I buy my own flowers regularly and they make me smile every time I see them.

MumoftwoNC · 10/09/2025 20:28

Bread and nice olive oil
Salami from the deli
White chocolate digestives
Audio book
New underpants - just ordinary m+s but it's nice to replace the old threadbare ones
Proper bar of soap, like Pears
Strawberries
Fancy mushrooms like shiitake, porcini (to go in eg a pasta dish)

DashboardConfession · 10/09/2025 20:29

This time of year - Pumpkin Spice latte which is a treat because a medium is SIX POUNDS FIFTY. Ahem.

In general - nice candle from Habitat or Lidl/Aldi (under a fiver), Fever Tree tonic to have a gin (normally I buy the cheap stuff), something from Champneys or Soap and Glory at Boots.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 10/09/2025 20:30

Scented body cream / butter (eg Next, Avon)

An activity - adult colouring, mini jigsaw, craft kit, a kindle book I want to read enough to pay for (ie one that doesn’t come with Kindle unlimited subscription), a magazine.

Chocolates (just cheap like matchmakers or Lindor), or a mini microwaveable steam pudding or crumble.

WasThatACorner · 10/09/2025 20:30

A butterball bath bomb from lush. It's the cheapest one they do and it's their best.

And a bag of nice(r than usual) coffee beans.
