Am I the only one sick of the sun?

Just that really. Am I the only one sick of the heat and the sunshine now? I just want to put my leggings and jumpers on and get my boots out! Absolutely love a dark evening with the lamp and candles on snuggled under a blanket.

Yes.

AintNoPunshineWhenShesGone · 08/09/2025 13:08

No, there are always plenty of threads like this every single year.

Sometimes they start in August so I'd say you're definitely not the only one.

Contycont · 08/09/2025 13:08

Sorry, couldn't resist

I am keen for a bit of hot chocolate and crunchy leaves but will be over that after about 2 weeks and be hankering for warm days again by mid November.

I actually think we've had a good balance of sunny days and rain this year.

TheCurious0range · 08/09/2025 13:09

Just let me dry my washing outside for as long as possible!

TheClaaaw · 08/09/2025 13:10

Well, you wouldn’t be alive without it. So yes, you’re being unreasonable unless you are a nihilist.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 08/09/2025 13:11

Yes yabu
We need all the vitamin D we can get to set us up for the winter. I absolutely loathe all the dark, long nights and the endless gloom. Hate it.

AllrightNowBaby · 08/09/2025 13:11

Sun and heat has been a bit intense at times this Summer and a bit too much for me but I am enjoying this more chilled September sun. ☀️

Same as @TheCurious0rangei love drying my washing outside.

I don't love the sun but I like the brightness, if that makes sense?

Isthismirgraine · 08/09/2025 13:13

Absolutely! I'm struggling to take the dog out because it's too bright - nearly a full week of migraine now. I want to do so much but leaving my room with the curtain drawn makes me want to vomit...so bright!

DaisyChain505 · 08/09/2025 13:15

I love it for the washing but that’s about it. I love love love autumn and being able to wear a jumper and see all the beautiful colours of the trees changing.

100% this! I bloody hate doing laundry in autumn and winter when we get almost unending weeks of rain.

It's fine not to like the sun but I never get complaining about it when we spend such a large portion of the year with such shit weather.

5128gap · 08/09/2025 13:21

Its dark by 8ish and not very warm. Can you not put your leggings and lamp on then and enjoy the sunshine during the day? Best of both worlds.

I think this is why I’ve had enough, the sun is so bright bouncing off the pavement and road and I was ill with a migraine on Friday. I like overcast 19/20 weather.

This is exactly what I have been doing. I think it’s just because the sun is sooooo bright and intense the last couple of days I’ve just had enough of it.

Its really good for you though the extra vit D. I have migraine too, but go out when the sun is lower, walk in the woods in my sunglasses. I find the fresh air and movement can relieve some of the pressure in my head. I know its not the same for everyone though.

I’ve definitely been making the most of getting the vitamin D i have two very young children so most our days are spent outside. Would just be more enjoyable if was warm and no sun beating down.

Makes me think of Mr Burns from the Simpsons! “For centuries, man has yearned to block out the sun” 😂

But seriously YABU. There’ll be plenty of the colder part of autumn and winter (and those cold rainy months that are meant to be Spring) to go round. Let’s just enjoy each season whilst we have it.

A bright, mild September is a lovely thing imo.

I’m not sure where you are where it’s “beating down”. I’m in South London and it hasn’t been “beating down” since early August. It’s just mild.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/09/2025 13:46

Oh god, we didn’t even get to the end of the op without the word “snuggle” being used!

No, I’m not sick of getting up in the light and walking to work and back when it’s light. No, I am not sick of being able to just walk out the door without 15 layers of clothes. No, I am not sick of being able to sit out after work. No, I am not sick of getting enough fresh air for my mental health and enjoyment without dodging downpours and puddles.

We have enough dark and damp Weather in the UK. Don’t wish it on us any sooner than necessary.

Macaroni46 · 08/09/2025 13:46

You’re being ridiculous and dramatic. It’s hardly hot at the moment and the evenings are already drawing in and feeling cooler. It’ll be winter soon enough!

The sun is not beating down!

Nourishinghandcream · 08/09/2025 13:48

With you OP.👍

Love the cooler, misty mornings whereas recently it has been too warm to sit out even with my morning cuppa!

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 08/09/2025 13:48

My adult daughters are like you... but I'm the opposite... l adore the sun.. so much l go abroad 6 times a year for sun...

Exactly you don’t know where I am so putting beating down in inverted commas twice, insinuating that I’m exaggerating is a bit much don’t you think?
enjoy your mild sunshine.

I’m loving the morning walk into work at this time of year. Not cold so I don’t need to take a jacket.

But yes, it gets too muggy during the day.
