Am I the only one sick of the sun?

Just that really. Am I the only one sick of the heat and the sunshine now? I just want to put my leggings and jumpers on and get my boots out! Absolutely love a dark evening with the lamp and candles on snuggled under a blanket.

Yes.

I'm going through a bit of a tough time right now and have taken today off work as an MH day. This afternoon I'm going to walk up to my favourite seat and sit in the sun for a while and hope that it makes me feel a bit better.

If I was currently feeling as I do now on a typical grey, dark, cold, miserable autunn/winter day, I don't know what I'd do.

You’re touchy for someone who has started a controversial op aren’t you? Not everyone agrees with you!

The word snuggle makes my flesh creep. It’s in the same bracket as non-nom and moist for me. And it is always ALWAYS used on threads like this (which are almost daily from May to September) to justify why some people can’t wait for the weather to get cold and damp and grey.

Please explain where I was touchy? Also where on any of my replies or the op have I once said everyone needs to agree with me?

Utterly sick of it. When I wake up and see it’s beating onto my blind again my heart sinks. It can fuck right off

I’m not sure where you are where it’s “beating down”. I’m in South London and it hasn’t been “beating down” since early August. It’s just mild.

I’m also in South London and it’s beating down.

AnonKat · 08/09/2025 14:47

South West is storming! Lots of thunder and lightening. Was beautiful earlier.

I look forward to apricity during the dark winter months. Usually end of December/beginning of January. Such a lovely hopeful feeling.

I read that as apricots and was thinking December isn't apricot season!

Nice word!

Allbacktoschool · 08/09/2025 14:50

Me too, I have loved the endless summer but I am so over it now. Bring on Autumn.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 08/09/2025 14:50

Don't worry it'll be dark, miserable, cold, with plenty of rain soon.
Dreading the miserable weather.

You must live in a different country to me. We've had a few nice days, enough to notice it's been summer, and frequent rain as usual. We're now bracing ourselves for 6 months of constant rain and darkness, and wet blankets hanging on door frames because they can't be dried outdoors and take days to dry indoors and the only other option is not to wash them all winter. Covering up in a million layers only to end up carrying them around because it's warm in all the shops and cold outside so you're constantly dressing and undressing.

Goodness absolutely not. I love the feeling of summer and get quite down this time of year and what comes afterwards. Dark mornings, the cold. No thanks. You can keep your snuggling, blankets, hot chocolate and autumn leaves. I can appreciate them objectively but I am summer (and late spring) through and through.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 08/09/2025 14:55

Catpiece · 08/09/2025 14:46

I’m also in South London and it’s beating down.

I’m looking out of the window and yes it’s quite sunny but could never be described as “beating down” by any definition. It’s not even warm in the sense that you’d feel the warmth of it on your skin, it’s just not cold.

I don’t mean to be pedantic or keep coming back to this definition but it’s just not.

I walked down to the shops just now and it was pleasant at most.

I hate hot chocolate but I will take the rest lol

If you’re someone who isn’t keen on the sun it’s beating down. Fed up with it now.

Why do shops etc do this? Jack up the heating in the winter when everyone has a coat on, and then freeze everyone with the aircon in summer when everyone is in t shirts?

I’m not saying it should be the same temperature as outside but it shouldn’t be so far away from it that your clothes are all wrong.

beasmithwentworth · 08/09/2025 14:59

I’m in south london and it’s definitively not beating down. It’s ‘out’ and pleasant enough but no more than that.

“Yea I do like to snuggle under a blanket with my children, is that ok? Sorry I didn’t realise I’d used such an insulting word.“

I think it was the pa apology, and the fact that you’ve taken my dislike of the word “snuggle” as a personal criticism and responded with sarcasm and defensiveness. In a nutshell.

I’m perimenopausal and prone to feeling hot at the moment.

But I’m not going to argue any more about these words as it’s getting a bit silly now
