My daughter started a new school.
She has come home with 3 seperate sets of paper.

Each with 2 pages printed front and back.

2 of the are the exact same.

Why the fuck do I have to wrote out her address 3 seperate times?! Why do i have to wrotes my email 4 times?! Her name so many times..
And on and on.

Im not doing the duplicate one. They can look at the other one.

But seriously its 2025! There should be a better system.

Agree with you OP. Clearly some posters think we’re still in the 1990s with the “maybe different departments need a copy”… and have never heard of file-sharing…

Oh boohoo my phone auto corrects all the time.

Can I suggest you get a grip?

Your phone autocorrected to a word at doesn’t exist? That’s impressive!

Lots of schools just don’t have up to date tech and still rely on paper.

Masterbate.

Your phone autocorrect needs attention.

Pickleoh · 06/09/2025 00:54

Oh love. You’re not a teacher. You don’t even have a grasp of English….

wrotes (autocorrect just tried to correct that to writes)

masterbates….

All paper should be banned from schools.

What on earth would be used as an alternative to paper aeroplanes?

Mydadsbirthday · 06/09/2025 03:19

TotHappy · 05/09/2025 22:40

I just don't fill them out. If they're important, they'll send them again. A lot of the time they don't so it's an easy win.

Wow. Great way to give your school extra admin and chasing when it would take you a few minutes to complete information that might be useful to them about YOUR CHILD.

Up-to-date tech isn’t needed… just the ability to email and create a file, in MS Word if necessary. All schools can do that, and have been able to for at least 20 years.

Paper copies can be available for people with literally no access to any tech but they will be very few in this day and age.

JustReal · 06/09/2025 05:35

I can relate to the frustration but maybe not sharing it on MN.

Also, I admire the passionate opinion.

I do admire the passion.

TheDandyLion · 06/09/2025 05:41

Maybe they think you need the practice.

My PGCE and Job say otherwise but crack on. Dodgy typing was never a part of the interview and trust me if you'd spent anytime at all around teachers (who are actual
humans) you'd know that many many struggle with spelling, especially the dyslexic ones.

Speaking as someone who has worked in a school office for several years there will be reasons for this. We had weekly meetings where suggestions for improvements will be discussed , so if changes were needed they will have been discussed. They are doing what works for them, it might seem archaic to you but it’s what school needs. . Please just roll your eyes little bit then fill the forms in and send them back. Not doing it or not completing everything just creates more work for the person who collates everything.

It's almost as if there's no climate crisis, isn't it ? If we can waste precious resources on shit like this.(While children go hungry).

All my hospital letters come with an extra blank page and have done since I first complained 20 years ago. Apparently there is no carbon footprint, so that's OK then.

Jauntyangles · 06/09/2025 12:43

“ Masterbate.”

It probably the best for humanity.

Is paper not more environmentally less damaging than ever increasing amounts of tech requiring rare minerals?

What would you do with the time saved?

cure cancer?
solve world peace?
sort climate change?

or y’know scroll?

@Dinosaurshoebox If you genuinely are a teacher, you don’t teach English do you?!

I hear you on the pointlessness of some stuff...

But...

Autocorrect never said wrotes... it's not a word...

I don’t know about Android, but iPhone autocorrect is the most un-intuitive pile of rubbish I’ve ever had the misfortune of using.

There’s nothing wrong with her English, don’t be supercilious. Everyone makes typos.

They are not typos. The OP clearly struggles with spelling. She would not be getting such critical responses about her poor spelling and grammar, if she were not behaving so aggressively and in such an obnoxious manner.

99% of OP’s spelling is fine so she clearly can spell properly.

Autocorrect technology isn’t perfect, it doesn’t correct every word to the correct word.
