I watched this a few days ago and almost started a thread on it. I was so shocked it was her mother! Some of the things she said were absolutely disgusting. I agree that how she clung to her daughter and said she needed to be with her was not an easy watch and I could have screamed at her at the end when she explained why what she did wasn't that bad and we all make mistakes.

WhereIsMyJumper · 05/09/2025 20:34

Did that couple accuse the daughter of knowing about it as well and being in on it or did I not understand what they were saying??
I didn’t get that vibe myself, just feel like the daughter was a victim of her psychotic mother!

I also thought it was brave of her to do the documentary but then realised it was probably because she didn't think what she did was that bad.

I was shouting at the TV while she was saying all that! “Well none of us have lived perfect lives” 😱

Did she send the original texts or didn’t she? I am not soo sure.

Yes. The sheriff said there is no way it was anyone else. I believe his theory over her any day!

She served time and was released before it was filmed I assume?

She's shown peadophile behaviour and feduarl level stalking.

Its criminal that she's out.

Well done for ruining the ending for those that haven’t watched it OP @WhereIsMyJumper

It's a documentary? Not a drama. It was covered in the news nearly 3 years ago. Maybe don't click on threads if you don't want "spoilers" into someone's real life trauma.

britinnyc · 05/09/2025 20:43

I still have some many questions, I can away from it having no idea why she did it, none of what she said made sense. Why was she lying about having a job? Clearly she has some very significant mental health issues and completely lacks empathy or comprehension of just how f’d up what she did was. She was so blase about it. I can’t even believe she did this documentary and day and gave interviews about early on in the case and how upset she was about what was happening and how she tried to help figure out who it was. She was basically acting through half of it.

I think her peadophile behaviour was minimised in the documentary. She was clearly obsessed with Owen, who was just a young boy. The texts she sent were absolutely disgusting and obscene.

Her sentence is a joke. She should be on the sex offenders register.

Dinosaurshoebox · 05/09/2025 20:46

I've seen Lauryn is studying criminal psychology or such.

I really hope she gets the help she needs becuase otherwise she is never going to be competent in any such professional field.

Plastictreees · 05/09/2025 20:48

Yeah poor L will need intensive therapy. Hopefully she can heal and extricate herself from her mother’s toxic web.

Textbook narcissist/cluster B abusive parent. Never take accountability or acknowledge reality. If they aren't actively blaming their victim it's 'well, sorry I wasn't PERFECT...'

Dinosaurshoebox · 05/09/2025 20:50

I dont believe the mother was raped.
She's saying what she knows will get her the most sympathy.

GreenFlag · 05/09/2025 20:51

I guessed it was her mother sending the texts early on.

I can’t get over how lightly she got off. Imagine if it was the dad sending these messages to a girl.

She said she didn't but I dint think anyone beleive, s that.

7372RR · 05/09/2025 20:53

I thought her cousin had the measure of her and why she did it.

The cousin said that if she was being interviewed and L was in the background, she would be dancing to get the attention. What a nutter. She did it all for the attention and couldn't stand her daughter being much prettier than her and wanted to bring her down.

Yes I agree Owwn was about 12 when it began and he looked 12 ,she was totally obsessed with him her explanation made no sense and then she also ruined his second relationship.

Absolutely. Even having the brass nerve to be filmed for the documentary is part of the narcissism. She did something so awful and then got her limelight out of it, crying on camera and talking about what an awful time she’d had when younger and STILL doing the ‘caring mum’ routine after all the things she had said to her daughter?? Fucking shocking.

This is another very good point. How can she use the excuse of wanting to protect her daughter when she contacted his new girlfriend’s mum too?!

I agree. I had to turn it off when she started talking about her own early life. All excuses.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 05/09/2025 21:07

I have read about this, but not watched it so I don’t know if it has been covered on the programme, but Kendra knew that the accused girl was on holiday and had had her phone taken off her, so how did Kendra know? She texted her daughter about it before they had got back from holiday I thought?

Kazziek · 05/09/2025 21:07

Co-incidentally just finished watching it. Utterly stunned that anyone could do that to their own child! All those sexualised messages, the abuse and taunts to kill herself. And then the mother equates it to a bit of speeding or something!

I'm amazed that any contact is permitted, given the manipulative nature of the emails shown towards the end. That poor kid - and her friends

KaitlynnFairchild · 05/09/2025 21:09

I was disgusted watching this absolutely insane!

I actually think she wanted her daughter to kill herself in the hope that she and Owen could “bond in their grief” it would bring them closer together.

She is horrific.

The documentary makers should have called her out on this, rather than pandering to her. At one point they actually tried suggesting to her that she thought she was messaging herself?! She got off far too lightly. She knew exactly what she was doing. Telling her own daughter to kill herself is unforgivable.
