Yup, I'm in a Cornish holiday spot so that sounds right

Thanks!

I could NOT believe it when I moved in. (Sidmouth's lovely, BTW.) Where are you, @ladygindiva ?

Try turning it off overnight and take a video of the meter (as a time stamp) and a couple of photos. Then turn the water back on in the morning and again another video and photos.
The meter moves really slowly when you have a drip type leak (my ball valve in the loft had gone on my heating expansion tank and water was dripping out of a pipe in the eaves). Invisible in the winter but noticed during the dry summer!).

Thank you for that. Funnily enough there is a mouldy cupboard right next to the eaves, which builders are currently investigating. They've been looking at the windows and roof thinking there are either guttering problems or tiling issues.
I will put it to them about checking the pipes, and I will also turn off the water tomorrow over night.
Thank you.

How lovely! I adore Cornwall, but it's just that bit further from friends and family. Enjoy the peace now the tourists are leaving.

£61, two adults and a dog, and 90% of garden watering done from water butts.

For the last two years it’s gone up £10 a month despite my usage staying broadly the same.

Yorkshire Water.

OhNoNotSusan · 07/09/2025 08:27

you can get a reduction if you are on a low income

lydialucy · 07/09/2025 08:41

£35 recently up from £20. South east water
I live alone and am careful with usage and the bill tells me I use about a third less than other similar households. But they have hiked their prices massively.
