Go for it Milkgoddess! Treasure every day as time goes far too quickly

expatinscotland · 31/05/2008 23:15

well, lapin, since you asked!

had a magnificent day at the beach today.

made a malt loaf for the neighbours on either side of us - one for the chap who mowed the strip of grass outside the gates when our mower was broken, the other for the chap who loaned us his Flymo (which was unfortunately electrical and even our network of extension cables couldn't get it outside the gates)

fended off a fierce cloud of midgies

took some washing off the line

washed dishes

how about you?

scottishmummy · 31/05/2008 23:16

the midgie is a fierce and loathesome creature, not to be underestimated!

i doubt the strength of the entire Campbell clan at their height of their powers would be able to undermine the force of the Argyll midgie.

the preferred weapon against the might of the midge - aside from the smoke from DH's roll ups - is Avon Skin So Soft dry oil spray in So Fresh.

the disadvantage of this, however, is that midgies die on your skin, which is . . . erm . . . oily.

and still buzz around your face.

i ran like a frightened cat from the car back to the house, messages and sandy beach gear defensively and strategically braced in front of my face and over my ears.

NomDePlume · 31/05/2008 23:21

LL - I spent all day in the garden working my arse off, weeding, planting, tidying and rebarking the borders. Really caught the sun on my back and shoulders, didn't realise until I came in at 4.30 for a shower .

Had pepper steak for tea. Played DH & DS1 at golf on the Wii.

expatinscotland · 31/05/2008 23:23

oooooo, what a truly tasty meal that must have been, lapin!

i hope your bonnet is not too costly to repair!

some fucker saddo in Port Glasgow took off my wing mirror in a Tesco car park and it was a very dear bit of vandalism.

thanks DC, NNB, harpo and seashell.

i intend to enjoy every min.

harpo, no need to worry about me
i find it funny the way some posters spend their time correcting spellings!
i find it kinda petty but, if gives em something to do!
they could always follow cod around the boards, if they wanted something to do

Now midgies are not too bad if you know how to avoid them.

They like to come out around 6 PM or so and stay out.

Of course, they prefer places around water and, I don't know why but it is true, they prefer the West Coast life to the East Coast style.

If you have an evening that's airy - nice breeze - then they're generally not a problem.

It's when it's warm and flat as a millpond that they're in heaven.

Living on the shore of a sea loch with a forest in back has its drawbacks, too!
