My son is due tomorrow. We’re stuck on names!

Surname will be Kington Hall.

Our other son is called Leo, middle name John.

We both quite like James, Ben, Ryan, Eliot, John, Roan/Rowan/Rohan, but I don’t love any of them as much as Leo.

I like Harry, Jack, Arthur, Archie, Alfred, Albert, but DP doesn’t.

He likes Ethan, Marcus, Nathan, but I don’t.

I honestly feel like we’ve thought of every name and none of them are quite right.

Please help!!!

A friend has just called their baby Laurie and in reality, it's awful. I didn't mind it before it was born but it's not good. They're having huge namers remorse.

Can I ask why? I quite like it. Is it too much like 'lorry'?

All right, Jesus.

Said it who? Bethany 😂😂

CrostaDiPizza · 01/09/2025 09:38

@ToffeePennie , that's not a good idea. Your younger child didn't get to pick the older child's name.

No, but they have a very special bond because of it. And my younger child worships the ground his brother walks on, so it’s very special for that to be the story of his name

WickWood · 01/09/2025 19:48

My baby is Seb/Sebastian so of course i love that name!

Theo, Nicholas, Jacob, Lucas, Barney, Albie.

Pinkissmart · 01/09/2025 22:36

Henry

TheKingtonHalls · 03/09/2025 00:37

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! Really liked a lot of them - Jude, Max, Charlie, Albert, Henry…

He’s here now and some of the favourites like Rowan and Elliot don’t really suit him.

We’re thinking maybe Alfie (short for Alfred)?

Alfie Kington Hall
Leo Kington Hall

Ok do you think?

SnowFrogJelly · 03/09/2025 00:55

Leo 🩵

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 03/09/2025 01:08

I love the suggestion Alexander.

Alexander Kington Hall or Alex Kington Hall. Both sound great.

Joshua Kington Hall
Marcus Kington Hall
Edwin Kington Hall
Rupert Kington Hall
Xavier Kington Hall
Simon Kington Hall
Peter Kington Hall
Charles Kington Hall

I do know a girl called Rowan but I've seen it spelled Rohan for a boy.

Pryceosh1987 · 03/09/2025 01:14

I think you should pick from the names you both like. Its good to keep in mind that the name someone has determines their natural level of opportunities in life. Its serious business.

Starling7 · 03/09/2025 01:21

Kevin,
Roger,
Derek,

RememberBeKindWithKaren · 03/09/2025 01:42

Harry Nathan Kington Hall. Both of you do a bit of compromising

Kleptronic · 03/09/2025 01:50

Vaughn Kingston Hall

SadTimesInFife · 03/09/2025 01:52

A 2 or 3 syllable name sits musically with your "bird-perch" surnames.

But...Montgomery Kington Hall also trips off the tongue

SadTimesInFife · 03/09/2025 01:56

@Starling7 ...why stop there? Nigel, Colin, Gary: Condemn the kid to a future of grey slip-on shoes, chromed exhausts and no mufflers on a Vauxhall Astra, and a comb over. 😁

BeardieWeirdie · 03/09/2025 03:02

Thank God you’ve gone off Rowan - the poor child would have “Rowan K” on his peg at school. Wank!

CrostaDiPizza · 03/09/2025 10:25

I know two sisters who are adults, and the elder of the to named the younger. The names have a similar vibe, so the parents liked the suggested name and used it.

Someone I work with had her DD announce that her little sister was going to be called her best friend's name. The sisters' names don't have the same vibe.

What could happen is that the older child picks the name of that week's best friend or a cartoon character.

Pivotpivoooot · 03/09/2025 10:30

I think Jacob and Leo sound nice together too.

Robyn847 · 03/09/2025 11:01

Jehovah.

Middle name...Witness.

And what a beautiful furure that would be!

ForgetMeNotRose · 31/08/2025 23:06

James

I think James goes really well with that surname, and it's a classic name that won't date. And it can be shortened, if Jim or Jimmy seems to suit him better.

I always think that the best names add up to 3, 4 or 5 syllables. Anything over 5 tends to be a bit of a mouthful.

CrostaDiPizza · 03/09/2025 13:14

You need to say the name and surname together.

Jamie Kington Hall flows better than James Kington Hall.
James Kington flows nicely.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 03/09/2025 13:16

Clicked on stream to suggest Leo, my second pick would be Logan.
