Just that, they seem so deliriously in love in every picture I've seen of them.

More power to them if they are that happy, they've both hit the jackpot in so many ways.

But.. to still look so enthralled with each other after so many years??

Rupert Everett is on record as saying he wished he'd stayed in the closet. Because one minute he was a leading man, then when he came out, all the lead parts dried up.

Maybe a few high profile A lister leading men and women might come out, but by far the majority will stay in the closet.

I thought he was gay before he came out, not sure anyone was surprised but maybe making it official is still risky. Not so much nowadays I’d have thought, with streaming services being so diverse in their content, cinema movies are no longer the be all end all.

Blondiney · 29/08/2025 19:16

Didn't the rumours start because of all the young, handsome men he used to entertain at his Lake Como villa? One ended up in hospital or something.

theDudesmummy · 29/08/2025 19:15

It's possible that he is gay and they do have a fabulous life, just an unconventional one.

I’d be very happy to marry a gay (celibate) man who, like me (straight woman) have had enough of sex/attraction based relationships. No sex , just companionship without all the emotional hassle.

Bepo77 · 29/08/2025 19:19

My dad's friend's cousin's parrot's aunt met him once and got the impression he's gay, so that settles it

I think many weren't surprised, and it was an open secret. Which I guess was why he thought it wasn't a risky thing to do.

But there's a difference between open secrets and openly gay, especially when you're up on the big screen trying to persuade people you're a hotblooded male passionate about your leading lady.

MyGreyStork · 29/08/2025 17:30

Yup he’s gay.

Do you know him? I'm guessing no...

SpaceRaccoon · 29/08/2025 17:20

Beard.

Wasn’t this also said about Hugh Jackman and his wife?
He’s gone to such lengths to hide his gay side that he left his wife for another woman. Crazy!

Apologies I missed that someone else had said this.

NippyNinjaCrab · 29/08/2025 19:22

Glitchymn1 · 29/08/2025 18:36

I thought you meant because he had a beard 🥴🤣literally lol

I had and still dont have a clue what this means 😂😂

Eyesopenwideawake · 29/08/2025 19:06

For all of you saying he's gay and using the marriage as cover so he can get into politics - newsflash; Ireland had a gay prime minister.

Damn good point! I’d quite forgotten our Leo.
Gosh, that seems so long ago. Sometimes I can’t remember which of our current top lads is in the hot seat now at all 🤣

Weepixie · 29/08/2025 19:23

Norwayway · 29/08/2025 17:27

He’s definitely gay. I can’t imagine him being straight

I think you need to keep your lack of imagination to yourself.

80smonster · 29/08/2025 19:24

It’s all for the cameras. Really George is in love with me…

ThePoshUns · 29/08/2025 19:24

I don’t think Rupert Everett really needs to come out, it was pretty obvious.

Marriages and loving, long term relationships come in all shapes and sizes.

Who cares how they work as long as the people in the relationship are happy and healthy.

Rupert never struck me as a leading man in a rom com type environment to be honest. Perfect for sardonic, acidity type characters but I would never have bought him being a divorced father of two juggling fatherhood, whilst looking for love with a leading lady.

What?????

I thought it was me!

theDudesmummy · 29/08/2025 19:27

@BunnyLake I was married to a gay man, the problem was that he wasn't honest about it (to me or himself). We were not fabulously happy, it wasn't directly because he was gay but I think his treatment of me had unconscious links to his general disdain of women. We looked like a great "power couple" though, career success, lots of entertaining etc, big charade. I was young when it started, and when I left I was bitter at how much of my life I had wasted on that marriage.

Now I am old and I could see the attraction of a man who didn't want sex most of the time! But living a lie, whether or not you realise it, is not a recipe for happiness.

Perhaps the chap ate a dodgy prawn.
Young man + hospital doesn’t add up to ‘“debauched shenanigans in famous villa; news at six”

theDudesmummy · 29/08/2025 19:29

FWIW I would imagine Clooney to be bi. He would certainly have had every opportunity to be.

Charlize43 · 29/08/2025 19:30

They are a Hollywood couple so it would be impossible to know what is really going on. Both seem like narcissists who need to be admired, as Hollywood people generally are...

In the 1940s people opened a magazine or switched on their wirelesses to learn that movie star Joan Crawford was having another lovely Christmas with her lovely and well dressed, adopted children. In the 1980s, after Joan had died we learnt that it was all a sham and they had been brutalised and abused by an angry drunk.

In the 1950s, Rock Hudson married his secretary (a very 1950s cliche) and everyone though he was heterosexual...

In the 2010s, Nicole Kidman said her face was completely natural (Baaaah!).

Weepixie · 29/08/2025 19:31

I don’t care what he is/was/whatever as long as he keeps on making films and he’s in good health and happy.

BadDinner · 29/08/2025 19:31

I don't think George is gay. Though my gaydar is rubbish.

He was a notorious womaniser wasn't he, before meeting Amal? Didn't he date that British model who was a judge on a modelling show? I forget her name.

Amal was the full package, intelligent, good looking and highly respected in her field and didn't need George. She could have probably married an uber rich tech magnate or someone high profile from a political family. But I could see how he wooed and won her over.

He was punching above his weight and knew it. Didn't he sue newspapers who ran a negative story about his intentions towards her? He was smitten!

When I think of Hollywood wives Amal is easily the most authentic and intelligent. Still working as a high profile lawyer despite the pull of luxurious ease, and occasionally writing open letters to the UK government about certain issues

They're a true compliment of each other.

ChrisMartinsKisskam · 29/08/2025 18:20

She was hugely successful and wealthy but i
doubt if it was private jet / unlimited money Hollywood film start wealthy

i mean if she hadn’t married George would she have able to afford the lifestyle she has no which is pretty much unlimited money

now she gets to continue her career and all the access to George money / fame

pretty sweet deal for her

and the twin wernt they IVF or rumour of that

also George has always played the leading man / lover in all of his films
he can’t exactly come out and say he is gay when he’s playing the ladies leading man

You're seriously invested in this ! A bit sad really

For all of you saying he's gay and using the marriage as cover so he can get into politics - newsflash; Ireland had a gay prime minister.

Leo Varadkar was firmly in the closet until he saw which way the country was leaning with the upcoming gay marriage referendum. Once he saw it would benefit his career, he came out. Up to that point he had been following a very conservative line, stating that marriage was between a man and a woman, children should have a mother and a father etc. Make no mistake, in certain areas even nowadays, coming out can ruin a person's career, especially if they have been pretending otherwise for a long time. Look how many people on this thread absolutely refuse to believe it of Clooney. You can understand that if he was, he would think at this stage he had everything to lose and nothing to gain by coming out.
