To be starting to worry that Reform will win next GE?

The polls have shown a consistent lead. Is there any realistic chance of Reform actually winning the next election?

I vote Labour, but it’s hard to see how they’ve managed to throw away such a lead in just a year, and it’s hard to see how their polling improves. The Tories maybe have more opportunity for improving, but we’re going to see a Reform government, aren’t we? Nigel Farage is going to be our next PM.

Well, Labour is completely fucked, isn't it? They have gone from a landslide victory with 34% of the vote share to 18-20% voting intention, Starmer's popularity is on its arse, (is it a popularity rating of -54 now?) they can't even get backbenchers to rally behind their policies, they have failed to smash the gangs, a third of their members are so disillusioned that are waiting to switch to Corbyn's party and this is all before they stick their hand in your pocket in the Autumn to pay for Reeves' attack on business.

So at this point I think the only way that reform won't win is is they self destruct.

No, this just is not right. Tactical voting, those website etc., were used in all of those elections.

No, there was no Conservative Party before 1834. There have been Tories since the late 1600s. The Conservatives were born of the Tories.

No they weren’t. There was no concerted tactical voting before 2024.

Hello @Upstartled. Tired of your new name already?

Upstartled · 29/08/2025 23:51

I mean 🤷🏼‍♀️I use them interchangeably, it's not like I'm masquerading with two sets of opinions.

Nice you are keeping up though @Blossomtoes, that's not stalkery at all.

Theyreeatingthedogs · 29/08/2025 23:52

It's jam tomorrow from a bunch of idiots who don't know how to turn on a cooker. If they win we really are in trouble.

Yes, there was. Perhaps you’re not old enough to remember them, but there absolutely was.

Not sure why you’ve sent that link. The Conservative Party was created in the 1800s, and their ancestors, the Tories, in the 1600s.

Maybe OP, but it is a long time until the election.

Certainly Labour shows no signs of understanding why they are losing voters.

NDornotND · 29/08/2025 16:20

I'm worried too. The depth of shit the country was/is in due to the tories is too much for Labour to sort out and win over the electorate before the next election. We're doomed I tell you.

Well I say this as a lifelong Labour voter but I'm appalled at a lot of what is happening right now.

The closing down of any sort of protest is a complete affront to democracy. Really really sickening.

The stupid policy of relaxing building regs and building all over farmland, when as a country we are already not producing enough food to feed ourselves. Let alone the effects on wildlife.

Inheritance tax destroying farms, again where are we going to produce food?

Just waiting for the great pensions raid.

NHS is in chaos, I work as a clinician, there are only 4 clinicians in my service, we should have 8. To get to my office I have to walk along a corridor of around 40 admin staff and managers. Everyone's a bloody manager, monitoring performance and quality but no one is doing the actual work!

I couldn't make this up. I had such high hopes for Labour but they've sold out. I will never vote for them again. The conservatives feel more left wing right now.

yellowspanner · 29/08/2025 16:16

I hope Reform do win. We need them and I'll be voting for them. Labour have already proved they're incompetent . I can't believe anybody would vote for them.

100% with you here
How people can support Liebour is beyond me. Seriously, what positive thing has come from this Government? Let Lucy Connolly do the talking and the rest of you may get it!!!!

Corfumanchu · 30/08/2025 02:31

Changingplace · 29/08/2025 16:41

I question them ‘easily’ finding parliamentary candidates, county councils are a different turn out typically.

Really? A political party so far ahead in the polls will have no problem attracting candidates, probably largely tory defectors.
I wonder if Julia HB would stand for them too.

What am I supposed to 'get' from Lucy Connolly, an incredibly stupid racist?

I've been asked what policies I like from Reform. So, they will deport all the migrants.
And I do believe they will send them back or to a neutral country. Great
They will reverse the VAT on school fees
They will get rid of wokery
They will reduce the size of govt .
They will cut benefits and get people into work
They will stop PIP for silly reasons
They will cut my taxes
They will restart the oil industry

Which neutral countries? How would that work? Do you not think these simplistic ideas have been discussed before? It’s ridiculous to think immigration can be “solved” with populist reductionism.

MyNameIsX · 30/08/2025 05:52

Labour are the disease, and Reform are the cure.

Let’s just hope that the patient is still alive.

caringcarer · 30/08/2025 06:30

Reform currently poling 34 percent, so yes they will likely be the next government.

user1492538376 · 30/08/2025 06:32

The rhetoric around immigrants and the coverage Farage gets is worying - he is being treated as if Reform are a serious party and he will be the next PM. It feels like a self fufilling prophecy.

Avantiagain · 30/08/2025 06:32

At the moment around here it does look like the turkeys will be voting for Christmas.

That was last July.

TranceNation · 30/08/2025 06:36

This government is already finished. I've never seen a new government be so unpopular so quickly as this government. I don't think Reform will get enough seats to form a government though so my money is on a coalition government.

Avantiagain · 30/08/2025 06:37

All the local turkeys moaning that Labour are cutting benefits will get a nasty shock if Farage gets in.

Are you serious comparing disabled people to Turkeys?

PurpleLeather · 30/08/2025 06:40

God, I hope they do. Labour have and continue to destroy our country and its people. It’s horrific what they are doing.

I asked ChatGPT this very question!

  • Cut income tax and fuel duty.
  • Raise the income tax threshold to take more people out of paying tax.
  • Abolish inheritance tax for most people.
  • Support for small businesses and self-employed workers.
  1. NHS & Healthcare
  • Reform NHS management to reduce bureaucracy.
  • Increase frontline staff.
  • Use private sector where needed to reduce waiting lists.
  1. Law & Order
  • Increase police numbers and visibility.
  • Harsher sentences for violent and repeat offenders.
  • Crack down on grooming gangs and knife crime.
  1. Education
  • Promote vocational training and apprenticeships.
  • Ban gender ideology and political bias in schools.
  • Focus on core subjects and traditional teaching.
  1. Energy & Environment
  • Scrap net zero targets.
  • Promote nuclear, gas, and other domestic energy sources.
  • Lower energy prices by increasing supply and cutting green levies.
  1. Brexit & Sovereignty
  • Fully complete Brexit – reduce EU influence on UK law.
  • Reform UK trade, borders, and laws for greater independence.
  • Leave the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

No, calm down.

avantiagain is referring to the common analogy of turkeys voting for Xmas.

Avantiagain · 30/08/2025 06:45

"Are you serious comparing disabled people to Turkeys?"

I haven't mentioned disabled people.

I think the country would actually collapse if he were in charge, it would be the Liz Truss/Kwazi Kwarteng budget type chaos x10000

I have my other passport ready just in case, but I am hopeful that common sense and a desire for the country to get better, not worse, will prevail.

It's all well and good living in a low tax society but it's going to be horrible every time you walk outside your front door, nothing will work and inflation will go crazy resulting in even more expensive cost of living.

We need to pay more tax. We need immigrants. People who want neither never offer any workable solution.

The UK will not snap out of its malaise anytime soon as long as people believe that you can tax your way to prosperity. Wow.
