He's not putting fumes in people's lungs from his car and sees people doing illegal activities that kill others or make our premiums go up.

I always assumed he was South African!

No, thank you. I don't have any interest and it's not relevant at all to the point I made.

The point you made is not relevant

ConfusedSloth · 28/08/2025 21:07

I don't know who he is so I'll reserve judgement on your overall question about him but it's a false equivalence to suggest that an untrained, unqualified person relentlessly pursuing someone is that same as trained, qualified professionals pursuing someone to the extent that their training suggests it is safe to do so.

Police regularly stop pursuits because they are dangerous. Police have several units to come from different directions. Police are trained and qualified. There's a difference.

They’re also nowhere to be seen. I’ve bollocked people for littering before, many times. It’s not my occupation but I want to live in a world where people aren’t selfish twats, and I’m happy to speak up.

He goes out of his way to wind people up and cause problems, it’s his hobby. Do not fool yourself into thinking he does anything for a good cause. He is an antagonistic little man and I hope I never have the misfortune of encountering him.

Maybe if your father died at the hands of an idiot behind a wheel you’d be tempted to report anyone doing wrong behind the wheel. I do find him annoying but it’s not just a hobby for the laugh

Not sure he's making that much money

I dunno, being a YouTuber can be very lucrative.

i don’t mind that YouTubers make money TBH. Except the annoying ones my kids listen to (Norris Nuts and the Mormon family who always say You are Worth it, 🤮). They can fuck right off.

ConfusedSloth · 28/08/2025 21:13

Chompingatthebeat · 28/08/2025 21:11

The point you made is not relevant

It was a direct response to the OP. How could it not be relevant? She said that saying he shouldn't pursue people is the same as saying the police shouldn't pursue people. I said that the difference is that the police are trained and qualified - and, as a result, often decide it's not safe to pursue people. It's directly relevant to what OP said.

I made no comment at all on this person that you're obviously a fan of so there's no need to get so offended.

WhatAboutTheOtherOne · 28/08/2025 21:08

I think he is great. I wish there were more cycling Mikey’s around. He isn’t rude or aggressive unless people are rude and aggressive to him. It’s amazing how many people use their phone while driving. I see it all the time.

I don’t think he’s rude or aggressive either. He doesn’t swear or name call (and I’ve seen him tell members of the public throwing insults at the drivers to pipe down). He just tells them to stop being selfish and back up.

Unless someone is the type who does this or thinks it’s ok, I’m not sure why they’d be annoyed about it!

Eh? I wasn't offended

TheNightingalesStarling · 28/08/2025 21:16

Some people seem to forget that every person he has a confrontation with is driving dangerously. But no, because he's a cyclist he must be wrong.

Like the video of him apparently "throwing" his bike at a car. There's different video angles showing that he was holding onto his bike when a car drive at him at speed, on the wrong side of the road after going through a No Entry sign, before driving off at speed. But I've seen some people say he assaulted the car driver by throwing his bike at him! The car driver had committed several driving offences...

gamerchick · 28/08/2025 21:16

User1786 · 28/08/2025 20:52

Presumably the people that dislike him are the same ones who object to speed cameras, i.e the ones that break the law

If someone threw their bike deliberately in front of your car and tried to blame you. Would you grovel and reflect on your heinous crime?

Sosickofarrogance · 28/08/2025 21:16

ImGoingUpstairsToTakeOffMyHat · 28/08/2025 21:05

You have too much faith in selfish dangerous drivers if you think a refresher course will change their attitude.

I'm not a driver and I don't have all the answers. I am certain though, that someone deliberately provoking others isn't going to help matters. Adding road rage to selfish behaviour isn't likely to end well.

I'm sorry about his father's death, but it still doesn't give him the right to do what he's doing. He would actually be more use as a traffic warden! At least then he would be able to wield some official power. He seems to be a man consumed with rage, at least it would provide an outlet for it.

ConfusedSloth · 28/08/2025 21:17

Good for you? That's not relevant to what I said.

Nurses are trained and qualified to give vaccinations. I think that doing that is a good thing. It doesn't mean I should do it without training and qualifications to do it safely.

Plumbers are trained and qualified to plumb in gas cookers for families. I think that doing that is a good thing. It doesn't mean I should do it without training and qualifications to do it safely.

I never said this man was even being unsafe. I simply pointed out that OP's argument that an untrained, unqualified man pursuing a motorist is the same as police pursuing a motorist isn't a true comparison. I made no comment on this man in particular.

ConfusedSloth · 28/08/2025 21:18

Chompingatthebeat · 28/08/2025 21:15

You’d probably be surprised, all the views from YouTube and the creator find on TikTok all add up

Maybe cycling mikey needs to pause and dabble in a little self reflection as to understand why he acts in the way he does. It sounds like he's doing more harm than good.

I think his dad was killed by a motorist while cycling which is probably why he does it. I still think he needs to wind his neck in and stop it and I say that as a cyclist. He gets weirdly excited and squeaky about it all. Him throwing his bike at the car the other week was way OTT.

Operation Snap. The police want the public to send in footage of people breaking the law (driving whilst using phones included).

RealOliveTraybake · 28/08/2025 21:23

Just last week he lobbed his bike in front of a car for dramatic effect. It's infantile behaviour at best and dangerous at worst.

Mikkymik · 28/08/2025 21:23

The overwhelming majority of people he dobs in aren't actually doing anything dangerous. While they might technically be breaking the law, that's because the law is inflexible and doesn't adapt to every person in every single situation.

Take for example a long line of stationary traffic, with cars inching forward a few feet every couple of minutes. It's true that it's still illegal for a driver to use his mobile phone in that situation, but in actuality it wouldn't be endangering anyone.

Yet these are the drivers he goes after. Same with most other offences. He picks low hanging fruit, people who are going about their day, not being a public nuisance or danger.

And before the smug holier than thou fuckers reply, please tell me you've never ever driven 21 mph in a 20 mph zone.

I didn’t say you were a driver? But if you think oeople who use their phones while driving are just missing the virtues of a refresher course then you have more faith in humanity than I do

Do you not think that it’s provocative to drive dangerously and break the law? Or should we all just keep our heads down and let lives be risked for the sake of not appearing to be a busybody?
