Yeah, I do wish you would, it's good you have that self awareness, good for you.

youve got peoples backs up here OP. DH used to drop DD off at nursery every day as it was on the way to the train station and apparently earn the moniker ‘fit dad’. Did get my back up a little bit thinking of all the hot mums thinking DH was fit. Maybe ask him if his little one wants to come for a play date then ask for his wife’s number so you can arrange it with her?

OP didn't get my back up i just thought the typo was funny. Smile

Wrong thread? I thought this was about a woman who wants to have a fling with a man who may be a single dad (or not)

Nope, right thread, responding to a moany teacher a few comments up.

everychildmatters · 28/08/2025 22:10

@thebabayaga No worries, assuming (if you have any) you're happy with your children being "taught" full-time by someone with not even a GCSE to their name? That's rhe reality now, both in primary and secondary.
I did leave teaching - after 20 years in. Best decision I ever made. I can be a mum and a wife for the first time in years with my job now. I can do an occasional school run and attend sports days. It's a revelation
People like you are partly the reason for the dire teacher recruitment and retention crisis.

I already said there's no gotcha, we'd just figure something else out.

And now you're moaning. Again. 🙄

Good for you for leaving. Now please stop moaning.

What if the nursery is on his way to work and not his wife’s
shows how unusual it still is for a bloke to actually get stuck in with parenting that the leap is that he must be single 🙄

Edited

This! My fiancé always did the drop offs to his pre school nursery and I mostly did the pick ups. Because it was 5 mins away from where he worked! I voted YABU

You didn't respond to anyone, actually.

everychildmatters · 28/08/2025 22:13

@thebabayaga I'll stop moaning when you stop attacking hard-working teachers. What's your career? Assuming you have one?
How would you "figure something out." Is your child's teacher qualified?!!!

Ironically, she's done more moaning that any teacher has done.

I did respond to someone, actually. I just didn't quote them or @ them. I was hoping they'd just stop moaning and not involve me in a conversation about their constant complaints - take the hint in other words - but sadly, no, no chance of any teacher ever actually realising they moan a lot and teachers can never be asked to simply stop moaning, it's part of the job description now.

Rattles1 · 28/08/2025 22:13

Our nusery has sports days

my kids have been at nursery for about 3 years nearly full time, and in most cases yes there’s a pattern of mum or dad doing drop off / pick up, or just one doing both daily. Either way, I’d have seen the other parent at some point even if not often. This includes teachers - full time nurseries are open during school holidays

so I’m going to say he’s single.. and agree with you . Ask for a play date ?

Nor can you be asked to stop moaning, it would appear.

XenoBitch · 28/08/2025 22:16

Erm, the only conclusion that you can draw from this is that he has a child in his care... either as a dad, or a relative to the child. It says fuck all about his relationship status.
Do you wonder the same about women doing nursery runs too?

thebabayaga · 28/08/2025 22:16

ConfusedSloth · 28/08/2025 22:14

For a teacher you have a very poor understanding of words. Moaning is not making one comment in response to a moan asking moany people to stop moaning and then responding to a tiresome moaner who won't stop quoting you.

Moaning is what you do - tiresomely, endlessly at every possible opportunity complaining and telling everyone how hard done to you consider yourself to be and (apparently) endlessly responding to someone who made one comment about your moaning, all the while refusing to stop moaning.

Please, for the love of God, stop moaning.

elliejjtiny · 28/08/2025 22:16

Dh does most of the school runs here.

Strawberrydelight78 · 28/08/2025 22:17

Is your dd friendly with his child? You could invite him for a playdate but invite a couple of other children as well so it's not weird.🙈🙈🙈

IzzyHandsIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/08/2025 22:18

Ultimately all you know is that he does all the pick up and drop offs.
He could be single.
He could be widowed.
He could be gay with a husband that works long hours
His wife/partner may have a disability that makes doing those things difficult.

Unless you engage in conversation you're never going to know.

Zov · 28/08/2025 22:18

ByDandyTurtle · 28/08/2025 21:56

I benefit from 12 weeks of nursery picks up due to a teacher

Ha ha ha, yeah, you're right @ByDandyTurtle being a teacher is the EASIEST job in the world. I don't a single one who hates it and feels like jacking it in at least once a week!

But at least they get a quarter of the year off eh? 😆

Hmm

I'm not a teacher, I said I'm not a teacher... I also haven't moaned about anything at all. You're just inventing things.

You've gone on a bizarre rambling rant and followed up several times by moaning since then.

How's your reading comprehension coming along?

MirrorMirrorontheFall · 28/08/2025 22:20

DH used to do all our drop offs because the nursery was on his way to the office and he worked from home more often, meaning it was easier for him to do.

Ok, then so for someone who is not a teacher (but moans on behalf of teachers) your comprehension of words is still very poor.

Please stop moaning.

everychildmatters · 28/08/2025 22:22

@IzzyHandsIsMySpiritAnimal Or he could simply be a great dad sharing the childcare.
@Zov Can't recommend leaving highly enough. Only now I'm out of it do I release what an absolutely soul-destroying job teaching is. 20 years was too long but now at least I can be present for my own kids and feel so much better.

What are you on about?! Genuinely? Have you completely and totally lost it?

You came onto a thread with a completely irrelevant moaning rant about something that hadn't happened and told everyone else to stop moaning. The only person moaning was you. When that was pointed out you said something that still makes no sense at all. And then retroactively decided to accuse me of both moaning and being a teacher, when I didn't moan and I'm not a teacher AND had already said that I'm not a teacher.

What exactly do you think I'm moaning about?! How have you managed to invent that I'm moaning? I have a very good understanding of words and you're struggling to understand that "I'm not a teacher" means that I'm not a teacher...
