If he was single, she'd be doing most of the parenting and he'd be a Disney dad - most likely scenario no matter how angry that makes reality deniers. So no, he's probably just that rare unicorn, a man who does a bit more parenting than men usually do.

Tubs11 · 28/08/2025 21:46

Have you tried talking to him before? My DH does all the drop offs and has gotten to know the other mums and dads. All know he's married cause it comes up in conversation. Why don't you throw some casual comments his way and see what happens? That way you'll know, but maybe don't call him dada 😀

Yes you just don't have flexibility.... Apart from those 12 weeks you have full flexibility

Aren’t you lovely.

Well you could go and bat your eyelashes at him and say 'are you single, Dada?'
Please do that and come back to report 😂

@ByDandyTurtle Have you ever considered teaching as a career? Thought not. You'd not last five minutes.

Sunshineandoranges · 28/08/2025 21:56

Thirty years ago my husband did all the drop offs and some pickups

I benefit from 12 weeks of nursery picks up due to a teacher

But it's true....

No. It isn't.

Teachers get 12 weeks of official holiday but the legal minimum is 5.6. Tonnes of jobs, including mine, get 7.6 (30 days plus bank holidays). So, in those additional 4.4 weeks often teachers have work they do - school trips, results day and the aftermath for both GCSE and A Level, prepping classrooms, preparing resources, marking...

So, do you really think they get soooo much more time than anyone else? And, also, if I said "my (non-teaching) job has no flexibility" would you really reply "except for the 7.6 weeks you're on annual leave" as if it's a clever comeback?

tinytemper66 · 28/08/2025 21:59

Please don’t…

everychildmatters · 28/08/2025 22:00

@ByDandyTurtle Not quite sure what you mean re 12 weeks of pick-ups?
And what school runs do you suppose teachers can do?

Lol starkerish?

So seeing someone in your normal.daily activity is a stalker.... Weird.

I don't think you've been very proactive over the past 18 months. You could have followed him to the supermarket to monitor his shopping.

What does this actually mean??

NebulousWhistler · 28/08/2025 22:03

NRFT so apologies if it’s been asked but have you checked to see if he wears a wedding ring?

thebabayaga · 28/08/2025 22:03

I have never known anybody to moan as much as teachers. I mean, seriously. Please, if your job is that terrible, just do something else. There's no gotcha to that, btw, if there were no teachers and no schools we'd just figure something else out like we used to.

We're all sick of hearing about how you don't really get three months off a year because you work till midnight with a candle for heat and fingerless gloves, and are beaten up on the daily and save up your extra coins to bring in supplies for your classroom while you eat gruel three times a day.

"ooh and well I suppose you'd think it was funny if....blah de blah de blah de blah" I don't care. Compassion fatigue is real, please for the love of God STOP MOANING.

You get that she might have a job right? And nursery stuff might be within her working hours?

Or maybe they have an older child, and she does the school drop off while he does nursery.

But none of this would be a mystery if you just chatted to him, I still can’t work out why you haven’t just said hi at pick up or drop off or all these stay and plays. How much can you really fancy him anyway if you’ve never even spoken? He must be incredibly good looking.

Dyra · 28/08/2025 22:04

At least I know you're not after my DH. My nursery doesn't do sports days.

As for why I don't do drop off/pick up? I work in the NHS. The nursery opens after my shift has already started, and closes before my shift ends. As for the other things, I try to turn up, but these things are usually scheduled on Fridays, which just so happens to be one of my set days.

tinytemper66 · 28/08/2025 22:05

Why are you asking? Do you want a fling? Just ask him. Or don’t and join OLD.

holidayhelpme123 · 28/08/2025 22:05

youve got peoples backs up here OP. DH used to drop DD off at nursery every day as it was on the way to the train station and apparently earn the moniker ‘fit dad’. Did get my back up a little bit thinking of all the hot mums thinking DH was fit. Maybe ask him if his little one wants to come for a play date then ask for his wife’s number so you can arrange it with her?

Wrong thread? I thought this was about a woman who wants to have a fling with a man who may be a single dad (or not)
