Please help us with a baby boy name!

DH and I cannot agree on a name for our baby boy, being induced next week.

We have a daughter called Tilly (not Matilda, just Tilly).

Our surname begins with C and his middle name will be John after my Grandfather.

DH loves traditional names however all of our friends have had boys, so Oliver, Zachary, Liam, Max and a few others we like are out of the running.

We originally decided on Henry but something isn’t clicking for me, DH likes George but our DD is Peppa Pig mad and I just associate it that.

I love names like Beau and Kit but DH won’t entertain them.

We both like Charlie, Joshua and Henry is still in the mix however like I said, it’s just not clicking for me but maybe it will be when he’s born?

Any name suggestions I’d be really grateful for!

I have a Matilda. She’s more of a Tilda. We nearly had a Kit but ended up with a Julian. A friend asked if she could take Kit for her son. He’s a great kid too. I’ve never taught a Julian. He’s a bit of a character!!

I think what’s putting me off the most is anyone shortening it to “Hen” would that happen do you think?!

I don't think so with a boy. Henrietta to Hen yes. I know two Henrys and neither is Hen.

opencecilgee · 28/08/2025 08:28

Go with George. She won’t like Peppa forever

Why not Jonny (obviously instead of John as a middle name rather than as well as)? It would be nice with Tilly.

There’s a Johnny in a local year eight class, his nickname since starting a year ago has been Condom… I kid you not!

Choose a Scottish or Irish surname, and use it as a first name.
Lewis, Mckenzie, Campbell, Stewart, Fraser, Connor, Carthy, Cormack etc

Wiseplumant · 09/05/2026 23:45

James, or use your Grandfather's name first for John James.

We ended up with Thomas! 🥰 middle name John.

He’s perfect, thank you so much! Seems like yesterday I wrote this post and now he’s 8 months old!
