Found this bloody weird note….

Bit of a strange one. I finally got around to emptying my son’s schoolbag and amongst the utter rubbish (including a Batman figurine he insists isn’t his!) there was an envelope tucked inside with just “For You” written on it.

Inside was a list of instructions. Things like:

• “Don’t forget to lock the back door at night.”
• “Children should never sit on cold floors.”
• “The blue cup is for milk, not juice.”
• “Be careful who you trust with secrets.”

I asked DC where it came from and he just shrugged and said, dunno. Asked on my parent friends WhatsApp and they had no idea.

DH says I’m being dramatic and it’s probably nothing, but I feel really weird about it

@theDudesmummy You keep saying the mystery was "solved" but in fact the only thing "solved" was that there is a link to Roblox. Examples of lives issues (not "solved"):

• had there been contact with an adult on Roblox which had led to real life contact?
• why was an adult writing a note and addressing it to the child as "for you"
• did the note get put into the wrong bag and if so what to do about that
• what action could be taken to ascertain if there had been grooming or other risks (at least one poster has referred to a real life situation where their child had been groomed via Roblox)

the OP might not be coming back, possibly partly to do with the shoddy treatment they got from some posters, but even if so, still worth people posting - not everyone is going to be aware of the risk posted by Roblox for example so worth sharing

I did say that one needs to be aware that Roblox has a chat element and so that needs monitoring, but the note in itself isn't concerning or sinister, it's more advice from Roblox player to another, I should think. The fear was that the phrases were somewhat "weird", and so they are if taken out of context. Knowing that it is Roblox can and should lead to a conversation about the games and what he is playing or wants to play, and who he communicates with, what friends of his also play etc. Not to interrogating the school management and bothering the police!

It's unlikely that the OP would have enough knowledge of Roblox or any reason to make up such a specific note surely? But anyway...now we will never know...

In the reception and year 1 class of my DS’s school one of the kids (who TBH reminds me of Damien from the Omen and is a bully to boot) used to draw people being killed by clowns and put it in his classmates bag so as to blame the other kids in case his mum or teachers spotted it. But apparently it caused a lot of similarly unnerved parents to worry for a while and the kids were telling by the truth when they say they didn’t know what it was

Wow! I just said I didn't believe someone would make up that list! I didnt "have her back"! I first followed the thread because it was interesting, and then because it gave such a clear illustration of how people blithely and confidently reply on threads without having read them, which I found annoying and interesting in equal measure.

I wish I was young enough to have a 10 year old child! And it sounds like OP is in the UK, which I am not. Also, you can't namechange in the middle of a thread any more, which I understand the reasons for but which does cut out some amusing shenanigans!
