Found this bloody weird note….

Bit of a strange one. I finally got around to emptying my son’s schoolbag and amongst the utter rubbish (including a Batman figurine he insists isn’t his!) there was an envelope tucked inside with just “For You” written on it.

Inside was a list of instructions. Things like:

  • “Don’t forget to lock the back door at night.”
  • “Children should never sit on cold floors.”
  • “The blue cup is for milk, not juice.”
  • “Be careful who you trust with secrets.”

I asked DC where it came from and he just shrugged and said, dunno. Asked on my parent friends WhatsApp and they had no idea.

DH says I’m being dramatic and it’s probably nothing, but I feel really weird about it

i don’t even know what I’m asking but, wtf!

OP posts:
CatMumPreston · 23/08/2025 19:20

Sound like clues to a murder mystery game or escape room to me.

theDudesmummy · 23/08/2025 19:22

Are people not reading the posts? It has already been solved. These are phrases from puzzles etc in Roblox. Nothing sinister in themselves (but obviously always monitor Internet use).

EPN · 23/08/2025 19:23

I would want to know where this came from. Whay else was on the list. I don't think you're being silly I think you need to insist he tells you where is came from. He's ten.

Johna69 · 20/08/2025 14:19

That is certainly suspicious, people on here saying forget it,just be wary

You think people on here are in on the horridness? Oh, my!

Dewdropdeb · 23/08/2025 19:25

To me this reads like something given to a child who may have special needs and possibly by a carer who's maybe a grandparent or older in some way. Like a kid who could be easily taken advantage of or something and the writer thought it would be helpful for them to have this as a reminder.

babyproblems · 23/08/2025 19:39

I would give the figurine and the note to the teacher, to find the owners, or ask every parent at pick up/drop off, who do these belong to… xo

Badabingyabadabadoo · 23/08/2025 19:43

I remember my friends and I writing weird sentences like that that made no sense we'd pass each other the piece of paper and add on more sentences. I dont remember what the game was pr how we came up with it.
And yes I do see its been solved now but just thought id let you know that kids do a lot of weird shit anyway.

I think you need to go into the dark kitchen by yourself now, after midnight, take a deep breath, pour some juice in the blue cup, and see what happens.

Make sure the back door is locked and don't look at the window

Edited

What an odd and unhelpful reply.

DramaLlamacchiato · 23/08/2025 19:52

am I the only one who’d chuck it in the bin and forget about it?

arcticpandas · 23/08/2025 19:53

I wonder how many posters will keep on responding completely having missed that the mystery is solved. I ought to have asked DS12 he would have known straight away as he's a huge fan of Roblox.

theDudesmummy · 23/08/2025 19:54

Absolute proof that most people just post on threads without reading them!

Lol. They usually just reply to the title and don't even read the full OP!

LucyMonth · 23/08/2025 20:08

I’ve always thought if something bad happened and the police had to investigate me they’d think I was insane if they took a look through some of my notebooks or search history. I’m a perfectly normal person, but my written ramblings and search history could look insane out of context. Times that by 100 for children. This is absolute nothing to worry about. Nothing.

Scentedjasmin · 23/08/2025 20:17

I'm afraid that this may be even worse than you fear OP. This sounds suspiciously like a SPAG test. My daughter has bought how similar lists of instructions that she's had to create or correctly punctuate.

Not funny

Very funny

I can’t even fathom what the police would “log” this under 😆

Something along the lines of Paedophile Ghost with Dementia and an older child playing Roblox whilst leaving the back doors open to let child traffickers in at night to perform a magical ritual and spelling test, I think.

MocktailMe · 23/08/2025 20:54

Okay, I'm with the poster who said Five Nights at Freddie's. It's really similar in style.

You'll also find lots of 'horror reels' on Instagram in this style - here are the rules to survive type thing. Scenarios like 'if you ever leave your house and notice you don't recognise the street, you are no longer safe - here are the rules to survive. Firstly, never knock on a door past 8am, if a neighbour smiles, be careful who you smile back at. Don't go near the houses with blue doors, those lead you further onwards, if you see a brown bench close your eyes for thirty seconds, if you hear a scream, sit on the bench and don't move a muscle' etc etc etc etc.

This seems like a 10 year olds game attempts to create this style of horror - is. It's not particularly well developed, to the point some of the instructions seem mundane. But the writing style like 'Children shouldn't' rather than 'No games by the hedges' seem to fit the typical writing of this kind of thing.

From your son's reaction I think he's likely been watching/playing things you might not allow. Before bringing it up again you should make it very clear he's not in trouble for anything he's been watching and won't be told off.

I could be wrong, but I'm a fan of this type of stuff, and it really rings a bell to me.

Katywester · 23/08/2025 20:56

Sorry but im not with most posters.
I would actually be concerned.
I would probe some more.
The fact that it's neatly handwritten is concerning.
Id be contacting the school as soon as they start back.
It could be nothing but IT COULD BE SOMETHING that people are telling g you to forget about.

WiddlinDiddlin · 23/08/2025 21:03

I would assume there was some sort of silly game at school where people are hiding stupid shit in other peoples bags.

He doesn't want to tell you because its a stupid game, possibly they've been told not to play it any more already, and he fears he's going to get told off.

Laurmolonlabe · 22/08/2025 09:30

No one "needs" privacy but if you want a decent relationship with someone it is essential, why not clone their phone and take their bedroom door off after riffling the school bag?

Not sure if you have kids, but all the ten year olds (and older children) I have come across want a close relationship with parents and to be able to tell them everything and get support or advice or whatever needed.

And in terms of what psychologists say, a close connection with a parent or an adult who has their back is the absolute essential for a child to thrive and it is the very best way to avoid grooming and abuse.

Sunshineandblueskysalltheway · 23/08/2025 21:20

Radicalpiloti · 20/08/2025 00:12

He’s 10. Please stop with the film stiff, you’re freaking me out

Are you also ten? FFS act!!!

Contraversialcatergory · 23/08/2025 21:48

I am surprised by people saying ignore it. I would def mention to school (even if not telling son) and be wary of what else may appear in his bag. I am sure it is totally a joke/ game / mistake (someone putting stuff in wrong bag by accident) but perusals

mrlistersgelfbride · 23/08/2025 21:52

Me and my friends definitely used to write weird notes to each other like that when we late primary school/early high school. Try not to worry.

mrlistersgelfbride · 23/08/2025 21:56

Ah yeah Roblox of course! Glad you got to the bottom of it
