Foodbank - 3 cars

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/08/2025 00:11

Am I being unreasonable to think a family with 2 cars and a big fancy house shouldn't be using foodbanks regularly? No disability issues.

It gets better. At a youth place. A colleague went for someone who was out at mcdonalds at the time, returned took a few items, said staff can chuck the rest and didn't even thank the staff member for going.

So some sort of support service for vulnerable youths. And you're surprised that some poor judgement was possibly exercised? Dear lord.

Definately a foodbank and yes TT. I was processing the vouchers / codes myself and would go myself as I was too soft to say no. Eventually though after about 4 or 5 trips, I started to say no as it was draining, using up a lot of petrol and the customers were taking the mick. They would turn their nose up at most of the food then go out get drunk and go for a Mcdonalds on the way home.

Did you report any of those at the top of the Trussel Trusts HQ ?

That doesn't even make sense?
Who bought who a McDonald's?

Obviously not. You can't report imaginary people at imaginary foodbanks.

The youth had been taken to mcdonalds by his mother whilst staff went to the foodbank for the customer.

No. Not going for them again was enough for me. It takes a lot for me to be a grass also.

The one I used to go to gave lots of big bag fulls and worth quite a bit of money. For the shop, on one occasion there were three family members. Pet food also, not to be sniffed at.

You can be given food for 3 family members, more even, but it's still random cans of beans, carrots, spam, tea bags etc.

Why add ableist?

I understand a lot more and it was a sarcastic comment, I just didn't realise we were in court. The point was though, if I was in control of the PIP payments, I'd be declining a lot as I know a lot of those in receipt take the biscuit.

Edited

Please do explain.

please also explain what policies of TT allow you to describe claimants in such detail on social media. Thanks.

And yet you’re going to refuse pip claims based on your medical expertise.

And sometimes a spade is a spade. I know some genuine people who struggle and have used a foodbank on occasion, but for every genuine one, there are about 10 who take the mick.

So 90% of foodbank users are fraudulent? Jeez we'd better tell Trussell that they're being fleeced Hmm

They probably know but think it's worth it for the 10% genuine ones.

Regarding refusing pip, I've had more success with clients than many medical professionals so I think I'd have good judgement.

What "customer"?
Who was the customer?

When buying expensive items such as a house, you should give yourself a little wiggle room for price rises, make cut backs. There seems to be far too many people using the foodbanks so they can spend on luxuries, ie an expensive handbag for £300.

I'm really sceptical about this. Have you actually got any evidence that there are people spending 300 quid on a handbag and then getting a referral to a food bank?

Don’t try to bamboozle the OP by asking for proof of something that only exists in her head !! 😃

Well it’s a good job for PIP claimants everywhere that you need more than good judgement to be a PIP assessor. You need actual medical qualifications.Medical professionals don’t fill in PIP forms, any more than PIP assessors make decisios about benefit awards. Disability outreach workers and various advisory agencies help with PIP forms - including this disability outreach worker of over twenty years experience, who has now come to the conclusion that this load of shite can’t possibly be real. You don’t know the first thing about PIP. Or about people in general.

Not to mention the DWP. OP can apparently tell at a glance who is eligible for PIP and who is taking the piss. Despite no qualifications and no more than a passing glance at what’s on the surface.

Take the mick, bs. I saw lots of people who used food banks in my line of work. Could they have done better managing food supply on their own? Often, yes. Did they have the education and skills to be able to do that in the way I would have? No. What you see as taking the mick can sometimes mean lack of know how. Not their fault and sometimes, you just need a hand up for a bit. You certainly can't take the mick with my local food banks. It's not possible.

You'd be assessing in line with measurable criteria, not your own judgement.

Judgement as in for not being conned. A lot of people put on an act in the assessments. I believe I can usually tell who is trying to pull a fast one.
