To be sick of the royal propaganda the UK is fed?

I know most people don’t give a damn about the Windsors any more .

However , in a week when we learn about Philip’s affairs - notably with Sarah Ferguson’s mother ( all covered up of course like the rest of their debachery) we are now expected to swallow the line that William and Kate’s next mansion is ‘paid for by William and Kate themselves ‘

No . That’s not the complete truth .Every penny the Windsors have , they have taken from the people . We now know William and Charles make millions from public services like the NHS schools and charities . We only know about this as a result of dogged journalistic digging . And most of the mainstream media barely covered the scandal .

There are many threads here about how the UK is in steep decline and how people are suffering . Yet the royals are taking in half a billion a year and charging charities on top !

At least admit to us that all their money is stolen from us ?

Oh and if you haven’t heard the queen knew all about Andrew pocketing money via ‘pitch at the palace’

She was told repeatedly by officials . She did nothing
Can we have some facts please ?
The Windsors are a total facade - they are all like Andrew - he’s just the latest fall guy .

I'd find it hard. All that attention and having to look perfectly groomed, public speaking - nightmare!

Yeah but you would have hairdresser,s and people choosing your outfits ,doing your makeup, people writing speeches for you ,and teaching you about public speaking ,it's not really work.

Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 10:22

That’s royal PR central !

And I strongly believe the money taken from us by the Windsors affects every single one of us - cuts to schools hospitals services for the disabled - yet the Windsors take more and more each year

Half a billion a year and growing

Yes, and in return the Crown Estate pays £5Bn (Five Billion Pounds) to the Government. Seems a good exchange to me.

Cheap at the price since even republics have to pay their Head of State and I bet Trump and the other POTUSs cost the US taxpayer a damn sight more than the House of Windsor costs the UK. Ditto Macron in France.

Ukisgaslit · 18/08/2025 11:43

@HerewardtheSleepy

You have swallowed the propaganda

WE own the crown estate .
The Windsors are taking not giving

Its depressing how often this has to be corrected though I agree the name should be changed for clarity’s sake

But for better or worse Trump and Macron are also political leaders, driving the political agendas of their respective countries and playing important roles internationally. Trump is also Commander in Chief of the world’s most powerful military (I try not to dwell on this).

Ukisgaslit · 18/08/2025 11:47

I’m not sure what your point is .
Trump and Macron have nothing to do with the UK system
We do not have an executive president nor will we

The PP I quoted was comparing the cost of supporting the royals to the cost of supporting a republican head of state, and mentioned Trump and Macron explicitly.

I was pointing out that the comparison is hardly like-for-like

PS If you had quoted me, readers could have easily read back through the history and seen for themselves what I was writing about.

Ukisgaslit · 18/08/2025 12:31

@poetryandwine

Sorry about that - I should have quoted you .

It is just nonsiense to try to claim that a president would cost anything approaching what the Windsors cost us.

Im so tired of seeing ‘but trump!’ attempted as some anti reform argument . The US / Russian/ French systems are all completely different from ours

There are children living in poverty in this country and we're all supposed to give a shit about some woman's jam.

I don’t give a shit about Megan’s jam and I’m sure a lot of the public feel the same.
i just don’t know what the RF are for in the 21st century. They are an expensive throwback to when royalty actually ruled the country. And before anyone says “but they only cost each of us 72p per week” I don’t care, even the 72p per person per week could be spent on a better more useful thing.
And they don’t need to find employment, all of them have enough money many times over to live on for the rest of their days.

Not at all; very interesting
I also think that W is lazy
He uses his young family as a convenient excuse to take time out ( wouldn’t most dads love to spend quality time with their precious children?)
I think he plans to ‘interact’ with the ‘little people’ via insta, videos, posts and snippets of information about their kids’ lives.
Though, he will enjoy the Rugby and football events …..

Exactly, I'd prefer give that money to the NHS or the police, not some fucking lazy posh twats who have never worked a day in their life!

W&K use their young children, parading them in public to boost their popularity and supposed 'relatability' with the public. Both of them are lazy and do whatever they feel like doing, on their terms, unaccountable to anyone.

There is no justification for retaining the Monarchy, they are a net drain on the country and on us. We are all supposed to not notice that most of us are steadily getting poorer, while the Royals are getting richer. Charles btw is richer than his mother ever was - almost twice as rich by some estimates. And he is due an increase in the Sovereign Grant by £45 million from 2026.

No wonder they can afford so many holidays. Yet we still have posters justifying them because they 'only cost us 75 pence per week'. Even if that were true (it isnt) it is still 75 pence too much. That family of billionaires should not be costing us anything.

@Cantheowneroftheredcorsapleasemovetheircar

’As I said, they all absolutely beleive this is their destiny’

Im not suggesting that you believe this and thanks for your posts but you raise an interesting point about the very thin and shaky line that resulted in the Windsors occupying the throne .

We are often told that the Saxe Coburg Gothas ( ie the Windsors before the hurried name change during the war with Germany) represent a direct line of a thousand years .

Anyone with a smattering of history knows that claim is tenuous .

Setting aside the murders and deceptions of the medieval age ( and the princes in the tower) wasn’t James 11 deposed ? What happened to ‘the next one up is the rightful king ?’
He was Catholic so was deposed . And that line was deemed not legitimate.
William of Orange etc resulted in no heirs so Europe was once again searched for a Protestant with some , any! link .
In the early 18th century 55 individuals with stronger claims to the throne had to be ignored until an obscure German duke was found . Lucky number 56 .
So much for a direct line .

Its all such nonsense

I am always rather frustrated by how the Royal Family count as working and are praised enthusiastically for turning up to events the rest of us would love to have the chance to attend - eg Wimbledon, football finals etc. I wish I could do that and count it as a days work.

You'd like to attend all events, being the centre of attention, having to be polite and meet lots of people. Look interested at all times... have your photograph shared across the word, every move you make scrutinise, people commenting on your weight ...your makeup, your hair, the way you looked at your child or husband. The clothes you wear etc. the way you react to the event. How your kids behaved, what they were wearing, ... Whether you clapped enough etc... having people commenting online about how easy you have it and how they'd love to do it...

Just because a speech is written for you etc , doesn't mean that what's happening isn't working?

Otherwise you might suggest that a head teacher who has a speech written for them for the annual prize giving isn't doing any work really?

Ukisgaslit · 18/08/2025 13:56

@BusWankers

You clearly haven’t the first idea about the work load of a head teacher !

Well, let's not pretend that it is the worst job in the world, nor that they are not ridiculously overcompensated, for so doing it.

Oh come on, it's not like they attend daily events on a full time basis? Can you imagine them actually working a full time job, 40 hours a week???

mbosnz · 18/08/2025 14:11

I mean, top tier accommodation, travel, health care second to none, platinum plated pension care, top education at top schools, ability to effect real change on issues which matter to you, not to mention ability to impose your own self interest on the nation and government at a legislative level.

comeandhaveteawithme · 17/08/2025 14:37

Although having said all that, I really do have Kate hair envy. Her hair is just so beautiful. I'd give my spleen for her hair.

She uses hair extensions/weaves to give the appearance of fuller hair. Many rich/famous women do it.

For example you’ll see an unfiltered picture of Jlo leaving a gym with quite fine hair which is expected of someone mid-50s. However, for events she’s pictured with enough length and volume for two 20 year olds.

SomethingFun · 18/08/2025 14:17

I’m not saying I’d want every last little thing scrutinised like they do to Kate, but equally I’m not living an unbelievably luxury existence off the back of the British people so no one does that to me. It’s 2025 there is no way William genuinely believes God chose him to be king of England. They could step down and bog off any day of the week. They choose not to as the scrutiny and workload is not outweighed by the perks.

Yes the British governments would have some logistics to work out if they stepped out, but it’s not beyond the wit of some civil servants, I’d imagine a rough plan is drawn up already.
