to think my colleague should just admit she is on weight loss injections?

At work we have all noticed Sally has lost a lot of weight in the past few months. She is always talking about diets and what she eats and does not eat anymore and makes a big deal about avoiding the biscuit tin in the kitchen. She keeps saying it is just willpower and cutting out snacks.

Last week I walked past her desk, her bag was open, and there was one of those weight loss injection pens in plain sight.

Now I cannot unsee it and every time she goes on about her self control it feels performative.

I am not saying she has to announce it to the whole office, but when she is preaching about anyone can do it if they just try it feels a bit dishonest.

AIBU to think she should either be upfront or just stop making a song and dance about how she has done it all naturally?

Could it have been an epipen? Either way, it's none if your concern. If it makes her feel better, let her talk about it.

What am I jealous of? Someone who says they lost weight by dieting and exercising but then didn't? Someone who keeps talking about food and dieting all the time? Someone who tells everyone else to stop eating snacks and then eats them herself?

What exactly is there to be jealous of?

Someone who says they lost weight by dieting and exercising but then didn't?

How do you think you lose weight on WLI? Spoiler, it’s by diet and exercise.

Honestly if this is true then it’s one of the reasons I’m so happy to have my own office at work. So much pathetic sniping/judgement/gossip/bulling amongst colleagues.

outerspacepotato · 11/08/2025 18:54

It's none of your business. Why would you even care?

LlynTegid · 11/08/2025 18:54

Why or how Sally is losing weight is none of your business. Incessant talking about it and a wish to have other discussions or none is a reasonable thing to ask. Just as if someone spoke incessantly about football and you had no interest in it.

DiscoBob · 11/08/2025 18:55

It's private. Why do you care so much?
You shouldn't be peering into her bag anyway.
It's just like any other medication. None of anyone else's business.

How would you feel if a colleague started potentially spreading rumours about your medicine and trying to get you to tell them about your health situation?

Thanks op, you gave me a proper chuckle reading your thread, how do you think people lose weight on the jabs, do you think they just Melt the fat off? Melt it off your mate who lies about the jab then takes it out with her and leaves it on full display in her open bag on the desk?😂😂😂😂

Praying4Peace · 11/08/2025 18:58

Glad she is looking good and unsure why this bothers you so much?

WorriedRelative · 11/08/2025 18:58

steff13 · 11/08/2025 17:59

Not here it doesn't; it's four individual pens for each dose.

Where is "here"?

This is a UK site, in the UK it is one pen containing 4 doses. It is single use pens in the USA. Other countries vary.

Oscarsmom71 · 11/08/2025 18:59

I think it’s her business not yours.
why does it bother you so much.
Ive noticed lots of women in our office losing weight and getting the Ozempic eyes look. Obviously on weight loss jabs. They don’t admit to it but I don’t care it’s their business and they can tell/not tell who they like.

It is amazing how many people have been on fad diet after fad diet, some for 30+ years, and finally found that the solution was simply calorie counting and self control, right around the time the weight loss jabs went on the market.

I know someone who has never been below a size 20 since she was 16 and over the past year has dropped to a size 14, all through the power of just eating less and her personal trainer, who she meets up with every day and is definitely not sleeping with.

It's an incredible coincidence.

And it’s completely clear why she won’t confide in you.

My sister is at slimming world and has just won woman of the month, she's on mounjaro! Hasn't told them and lies about her diet on sw. I hate this! There should be no shame being on mj, it's helping people.
I think people should mind their own business, its no concern of anyone how someone loses weight, its just the lying i despise.
I really don't believe you when you say you saw it in her bag. 100% didn't happen.

Why should she share her private medical information with others? Do you think people should publicly share whether they take antidepressants or anxiety medication or whether they are using pessaries for thrush? Do you expect them to announce their HRT and then judge them for cheating?

That is what I am supposedly jealous of?

I am on them. The first couple of people I told, I had quite bad reactions from so I decided to not tell ppl as I feared what they would say. Now I am a bit braver and my friends and family generally know but I still haven’t told my colleagues as I am embarrassed that I wasn’t upfront from the beginning. Maybe it’s something like that?

Dinosaursare · 11/08/2025 19:04

My mother in law is on them and keeps telling people she is reformed- does my head in as why lie 😂 but also none of my business!

That would be completely understandable. But why keep making a song and dance about all the dieting, food, exercise 5 days a week?

What is the lie she is telling?

Is that not exactly what WLIs are for? To take away barriers to reforming your diet and lifestyle?

What lie? Exactly? If it's worked and she has used them to reform her lifestyle?

Rewis · 11/08/2025 19:08

Yeah, she shiuld either admit to the injection or stop banging on about willpower and diets. I'm on mysimba and I keep my mouth shut about dieting and about meds. I mean, yoh do have to diet and exercise wven eith the meds but going on about it every day?

However, there is shame attached to the weightloss meds so it is likely that it is a deflection. So everytime she goes on just think to yourself that it is bs and how you're the one who knows the truth and keep it to yourself.

Not the most interesting of topics

But I'd rather listen to her chatter about her meal preps than listen to you bitter bitches if I worked at your workplace

Ozempic eyes?! What on earth do you think WLI users eyes look like? Or is it just that their faces change as they lose weight, the same as they do for anyone who loses a decent amount of weight.

Dunno, you're very invested tho ain't you?

CaramelGhost · 11/08/2025 19:12

Mind your business. The injections don't fix anything anyway, you still have choices to make. People lose weight when they eat less than they burn. It isn't rocket science.

Oh I know what ozempic eyes are

They're what you think people on ozempic look like because all of your friends and family who just use it to get to and maintain a healthy midsize, think you're the kind of person who would be a bitch about it, so they don't tell you they used them too! So you only see the tabloid "ozempic face" when you think of WLI users!

But she might very well be dieting and exercising and eating better. I have been on MJ since Jan and it’s not a magic potion. I still have to watch what I eat and make sure I do a certain amount of exercise every week. Leave her alone.

amillionandone · 11/08/2025 19:14

She shouldn't feel obligated to tell people about her medical history or which medications she's taking, but I can see why you're annoyed if she's clearly taking weight loss injections while frequently implying that she's losing weight through sheer willpower.

Regardless of the rest of it, she shouldn't be going on about dieting simply because it is an incredibly boring subject to force on your colleagues day in, day out.
