to think my colleague should just admit she is on weight loss injections?

At work we have all noticed Sally has lost a lot of weight in the past few months. She is always talking about diets and what she eats and does not eat anymore and makes a big deal about avoiding the biscuit tin in the kitchen. She keeps saying it is just willpower and cutting out snacks.

Last week I walked past her desk, her bag was open, and there was one of those weight loss injection pens in plain sight.

Now I cannot unsee it and every time she goes on about her self control it feels performative.

I am not saying she has to announce it to the whole office, but when she is preaching about anyone can do it if they just try it feels a bit dishonest.

AIBU to think she should either be upfront or just stop making a song and dance about how she has done it all naturally?

Ah maybe it’s in her bag as she doesn’t want anyone at home to find it? Partner/kids/whoever she lives with

But right at the top of her bag so that anyone walking past might “just happen” to see it?

I would tred very carefully here. 1. It's medical information and is protected under GDPR and is "protected data", colleague or not & insufferable or not it still does not give you the right to it.2. Why do you feel the need to 'look ' in someone's bag ...open or not could leave u open to all sorts of accusations in future e.g. if something goes missing you'll be first to blame ...3. It's none of your business , mind your own , she doesn't owe you a thing 4. If the behaviour bothers you communicate , change the subject, suddenly become "too busy to chat" or just be honest and say "can we please change the subject?"

GDPR??😂What data has the data subject given the OP, how has she processed it and where is she storing it??

"I don't need to lose weight."

Yeah right.

How about you? Do you need to lose weight?

I don't think.it is anything to do with anyone else, although it would annoy me if someone was professing it was all to.do with diet and will power

Please for the love of all things holy stop kvetching on about the snacks. It's like listening to a stuck bloody record.

Leave the thread if it is bothering you that much. No one is forcing you to stay here.

Maybe go get a snack or something and calm down.

Are you 8 years old with your childish and ineffective attempts at witty repartee?

Cringing for you.

CallMeEvelyn · 11/08/2025 21:57

Wegovy pen definitely requires fridge storage, btw, from the manufacturer's website, like I suspected.

OP, if you weren't sensitive about your own weight, this woman (and what she's doing or not doing, or whatever she says about biscuits yadda yadda) wouldn't even register with you. Yet here you are posting on MN about whether someone is on MJ or not. Who cares?

As I said, if you're that bothered, go on MJ yourself. Christ on a bike.

In the meantime, in the minuscule event that this office woman is real, just tell her you know she's in MJ because it's in her bag. Give me strength! Are you all 6?

Why would you need a thread about any of this?

Matronic6 · 11/08/2025 22:04

Obviously she doesn't have to disclose anything to you. But people who go on and on about their bloody diets are boring. I also think people who harp on it about are inviting judgement from others.

Do you go around lecturing others about how they need to adopt your habits and lose weight too?

No. Do you usually assume people are lecturing when you read things online?

notatinydancer · 11/08/2025 22:05

Once a Mounjaro pen is in use, it can be stored out of the fridges for up to 30 days. Unopened they should be in the fridge.

People can start threads for whatever reasons they like. You are not MNHQ.

Nah, just can’t see any reason why someone would carry a WLI pen around with them. It’s nonsensical.

SomeOfTheTrouble · 11/08/2025 22:14

I also can’t see any reason why you can’t just use your big girl words and say ‘please stop commenting on my diet, it’s tedious’.

In the normal world when random woman in office loses weight ...

"Hey Pam are you on the MJ? It's working, you're looking fab! Good for you."

In OP's world -

"How dare she. She is LYING. LYING I tell you. I must start a thread to slag this outrageous weight-losing person off. No I'm not jealous at all. Noooo! Jealous me? What makes you all think that?"

She might be hiding it from her family. She has said they give her a hard time about her weight.

Just because you can't see a reason doesn't mean there isn't one.

And as I have said twice (at least) upthread, what would she do with it she had to go home from work? Where would she store it at evenings and weekends? And why would she keep it visible at the top of her bag, rather than hid away at the bottom/in a pocket of the bag?
