Currently there are at least 5 Ukraine threads on AIBU, and have been for months. There are 2 anti-Palestine threads (complaining about flags at graduations) and I recall a few others but haven't time to dig them up.
But every thread about the man-made famine (as per the IPC, UN, Oxfam), and genocide (as per Amnesty, Human Rights Watch, the UN, MSF, Dame Helena Kennedy, Prof. Amos Goldstein, Prof. Omer Bartov) gets booted to the CITME section. But this isn't a niche conversation, it's a conversation about our government being credibly accused of complicity in genocide or at the very least of failure to stop genocide.

So, why is that conversation being singled out for removal from AIBU? Please explain @MNHQ

From MSF:

Also from MSF, title: "MSF is clear, we are witnessing Israel commit genocide"

msf.org.uk/issues/gaza-genocide

By the way the only other times MSF have broken neutrality in a conflict? Rwanda, Bosnia, the DRC. Y'know, other genocides

Hi, OP. I think the best way to invite MNHQ to engage in a discussion about this is to start a thread on the Site Stuff board, which they do keep an eye on.

You might also be able to report your opening post and ask for it to be moved to Site Stuff?

Otherwise they’ll not necessarily see your question.

Thank you, I will try that. I have tried reporting the threads that they have hidden away, and putting the same point there, but not always had a response

What would you have our government do?

Apply the same sanctions they applied to Putin, the borders would be open within a week and the 1000 trucks would flood the aid in. Still too late to save some, because that is what famine means, but it would save many.
The UN has called the air drops of aid a "dangerous distraction" because it is ineffictive, drops tiny amounts (7 tonnes Vs 40 tonnes on a truck) and has killed aid seekers. Also means the strongest get aid and the weakest don't.
Sanctions. Just like several leading Israeli figures and NGOs are calling for.
And recognise a Palestinian state on Gaza and the West Bank immediately, thus stopping the violent Israeli settlers who lead regular stealing, killing and burning raids on Palestinian villages, acting as the unofficial arm of the state to drive them out (see Israeli NGO B'Tselem, Israeli settler pogroms, see also Amnesty, HRW, Physicians for Human Rights Israel)

To be very clear, sanctions against Israel is what the UN would have put govt do, and Amnesty and HRW and the Israeli NGOs B'Tselem and PHR-I. It's not complicated. Teams of legal and humanitarian experts are saying this.

I would like them to immediately stop selling any arms or components of arms to Israel.

Why shouldn't MNHQ move threads to the appropriate section?

I believe that the OP's point is that she does not think that MNHQ are doing this consistently, fairly and proportionately.

Obviously I may be wrong, but that's my impression.

DonnaHadDee · 09/08/2025 14:19

OP, i would agree with your perspective on this.

Hamas are just one of many extremist terrorist organizations. They would have liked many more Israelis if they had the means. Many arab states actively support these groups.

Israel have murdered so many innocent women and children in Gaza. And the ethnic cleansing goes on in the West Bank too. It's a democracy, these actions are supported by the majority of their population, and only possible with Western support. This is nothing new.

DonnaHadDee · 09/08/2025 14:19

Typo.... They would have murdered and raped many many many more Israelis if they had the means.

Panterusblackish · 09/08/2025 14:29

The news coverage on Gaza is absolutely constant.

The war in Ukraine is still happening but barely makes the news so really should be on a higher trafficked thread.

Try putting Palestine in your search and you'll see it pops up all over the place.

Because Ukraine has had the full support of the UK Government since the start of the conflict. Every UK Government, Boris Johnson's Conservative Government, Rishi's Sunak's Conservative Government and Keir Starmer's Labout Government has provided military and other aid, weapons and a special immigration route for Ukrainians to live in the UK. We have applied sanctions on Russia and Russian nationals.

When Russia invaded Ukraine, the coverage was huge and constant. The pictures of another European country being attacked were and still are shocking.

The news coverage on Gaza has escalated due to the utterly dire situation for civilians in Gaza. There is a man-made famine and huge civilian casualties. The world has a right to know what is happening.

This is a thread asking about the placement of threads by MNHQ, not an opportunity for you to suggest that the OP supports terrorism.

OneKookyShark · 24/08/2025 11:24

Oh, post immediately moved from AIBU to CITME. What subjects are actually allowed to be discussed in AIBU? Are there rules?

SpringIsCome · 05/04/2026 14:18

I wonder when being concerned about the actions of the Israeli government will not longer be considered a niche belief?
