I have no idea what views you are soliciting on the elderly and retired or how they can possibly be relevant to this thread

what are you expecting? an ardent piece of advocacy for euthanasia for retirees?

i mean what?

I don't think elderly and retired people are lazy or anything if that is what you are getting at. I mean obviously there will be some lazy people, some active people, some do-gooders, some obsessed with their gardens ... blah blah

I don't think using JK Rowling, who wrote most of the first book while she was working or on (effectively) on maternity leave, is any kind of exemplar of anything.

By the way PP, do you really think that only sahms have lovely homes?

Quattrocento · 29/05/2008 20:30

thanks Findtheriver

nkf · 29/05/2008 20:31

Finding things to do is not the issue. Anyone can do that. The hours are there and people fill them.

ILiketoMarmiteMarmite · 29/05/2008 20:31

So far on this thread I have not really said anything about SAHMs, I sort of got sidetracked into the attitude to your job thing and the money vs fulfulment thing.

But - not meaning to be offensive, of course, and not having lazyhen's wine on board - out of genuine interest, if your children are at school and you have a cleaner, what takes up the day? Yes I know you have to budget or pay the bills or shop for food or whatever but working people have to do that too. I am interested in what happens during the day.

Saymyname · 29/05/2008 20:32

Milky, in the nicest possible way, can I ask if you enjoy being controversial?

So far from you we've had one breast vs bottle debate and a couple of SAHM and WOHM ones.

I just wondered what motivates you to start these, you're not bored are you?

posieparker · 29/05/2008 20:32

findtheriver, of course you admire Quattro, you seem to be a poor man's Quattro. How on earth would you know how successful she is in her home and/or working life. To be sycophantic about someone on the basis of what they post on MN is really rather sad, makes me laugh. Perhaps you could admire her posts but the rest is really rather silly.

findtheriver · 29/05/2008 20:33

'findtheriver, who the fuck is typical? You would have ridiculed her as much prior to her first publication for being a SAHM or would have known about her imminent fame and fortune?' - err, I'm sorry this makes no sense!!! Maybe you've been hitting the bottle again lol

Quattrocento · 29/05/2008 20:34

Ooh Posie's post was deleted by Mumsnet - was a pity actually because I was going to use some of the more coherent sentences to extract what she did with her day.

THere was something about keeping a lovely home but not cleaning it because the cleaner did that. Then there was something about beaming families but surely you can't go around beaming all day now can you?

Stopitplease · 29/05/2008 20:35

"my profession is pharmacist"

I thought your profession was SAHM now?

Your professions was pharmacist.

posieparker · 29/05/2008 20:35

Quattro, I said I think some not only SAHMs have lovely homes.

findtheriver · 29/05/2008 20:36

'Yes JK Rowling is typical, that really was my point. '

'I didn't say JK Rowling was typical',

Two quotes from posieparker's posts, written within the space of .... oooh, about 5 minutes.
She really is totally barking!!

ILiketoMarmiteMarmite · 29/05/2008 20:36

The post about making a career out of housewifey things - why was that deleted?

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 29/05/2008 20:38

saymyname, how they heck is this thread controversial!?? the fact i think its mad, that everyone seems to assume you will return to work when your children go to school.
what on earth is controversial about that!

nothing that was said on this op was offensive to WOHM.
bloody hell som people are so touchy!

OP posts:
findtheriver · 29/05/2008 20:39

'A poor man's quattro' ROFL she gets more hilarious by the minute!! No, I'm not being sycophantic. It's simply clear from her posts that she is happy with her life and successful within the home and work. Which is really what you have a HUGE big problem with posieparker!!

posieparker · 29/05/2008 20:40

The first was sarcastic in response to nfk saying that she was typical. You really should read a few posts.

Saymyname · 29/05/2008 20:40

Just a general thing really Milky, I've noticed you like to post about "touchy" subjects.

No need to get aerated though, I wasn't criticising, just wondered.

Quattrocento · 29/05/2008 20:40

No the making a career out of housewifey things wasn't deleted - it was the nastier and more incoherent one much later in the day -

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 29/05/2008 20:41

stop it. well im still employed at the moment, on mat leave so i am still a pharmacist.

OP posts:
nkf · 29/05/2008 20:42

But I said she wasn't typical. The posts make sense now. The first was sarcasm, the second your opinion.

posieparker · 29/05/2008 20:42

I have a HUGE problem with people attacking SAHMs with the same crap all of the time, that's why I have a problem with both Quattro and you. Your incapacity to think that some women are very happy and satisfied looking after their children during their formative years. Your need to try and make others feel small and worthless for the choices they make in their lives.

nkf · 29/05/2008 20:42

A poor man's quattro sounds like a car.

Stopitplease · 29/05/2008 20:43

Interesting that you define yourself by the job you hold MG

ILiketoMarmiteMarmite · 29/05/2008 20:43

Oh dear now I'm losing track and soon I'll be posting shite myself.

FairyMum · 29/05/2008 20:44

LOL at a poor man's Quattro.

findtheriver · 29/05/2008 20:45

posie, would you care to find a post I have made on this thread where I am attacking SAHMs with 'crap'?????
