What are you doing, where and age ish?

Feeling very down and lost and wondering what others are up to.

I’m mid 40’s, in the Algarve, sat in the garden, it’s very peaceful. Dh doing story in bed with Dd, he’ll fall asleep, i’ll go in in a bit and watch some tele. All around me is so beautiful, lifestyle amazing, from the outside it looks incredible…

How about you?

Had a bottle of fizz with DH cos we just bought a house. Slightly terrified cos it could be a money pit. From the outside we have money jobs and success and two great kidadults but sometimes I wake in the night frightened and anxious cos it’s not about appearance it’s about true loving connections with friends and family. X

  1. Sitting in an inner city council flat, watching telly with the dog. Daughter is asleep. I've been single since her father changed his mind about us 7 years ago.

Life was not meant to be this- my family is a nice middle class professional one and my siblings have very different lives and nice homes and all that jazz- but I'm quite content, if I don't think too hard about it.

kissmyfatass · 01/08/2025 20:55

Early 50’s sat at home with DH and DD. Watching TV. Life is hard right now due to DF being unwell

DressingFrown · 01/08/2025 20:55

Late 20s. DCs are in bed asleep upstairs. We (me and DH) just had an oven pizza and we're watching Motherland while I wait for a work email to come in so I can action that.

Why are you feeling down? Your OP sounds lovely and calm.

ElleBelleLou · 01/08/2025 20:57
  1. In bed as I’m up super early tomorrow to work my two jobs back to back - won’t be back in bed til about 4am Sunday morning. DP and DSS are downstairs watching a film. I blitzed the (stupidly expensive rented - that’s another flaming story) house today and washed my hair so I’m feeling clean and snug.
Hollowvoice · 01/08/2025 21:02

I'm at home with a glass of wine. DCs in their bedrooms. DH out with friends.
DFIL passed away last week so we're all a bit up and down

Why do you feel down?

Thepeopleversuswork · 01/08/2025 21:04

At home, just finished clearing up, going to watch TV in bed with DD. Looking forward to reading in bed.

I know it's a snapshot, but your life as you've presented it doesn't sound too awful. What's making you feel like this?

Createausername1970 · 01/08/2025 21:08

I am sitting in lounge. Patio door open. Ghosts just finished on telly. Just tidied kitchen and put dishwasher on.

DH gone out source fruit cake and I will make a cuppa when the hunter-gatherer returns with his catch.

I am 63 and live in South of England.

Mid 40s blues sounds not unusual. It does sound like you have a lovely life most would envy, but presumably you feel something is missing? I'm late 50s, just finished watching a TV show, and doing some catching up with Duolingo and emails. I have a very good life, but often feel blue. I know I'm better with no alcohol, taking regular vitamins, and more fresh air and exercise than I normally get though.

That’s sweet, how old is Dd?

My Dd has been v ill for around 14 months, it’s been traumatic and I feel just like a shell, just surviving..I can’t see or feel anything good around me, it’s odd, I used to be happy, maybe it will come back.

I'm sorry OP.

My DD is also unwell - all started about 8 months ago. I wish I could tell you it gets better but I'm still in the same place as you and hoping that as well!

drspouse · 01/08/2025 21:12

I'm in my 50s, we're on holiday in Northern France and went out for a buffet meal tonight so we are all stuffed. We're watching The Assassin and have just sent the DCs to bed, they are teen/preteen. I think they were exhausted swimming in the sea today because they have gone, though DS has epilepsy and he had a fit an hour ago (brief one) so that's probably making him tired too.

I am sorry your daughter has been unwell, it's a difficult time for you 💐

BeMellowAquaSquid · 01/08/2025 21:14

At home watching Gold season 2 wondering if my DH could possibly eat his crisps any louder. Can see the garden spade out of the corner of my eye, just googled how long it would take to dig a man size hole. Wish I was in the Algarve.

Sitting in my bed eating an Ambrosia custard pot and scrolling. Tomorrow at 8am I’m off to a music festival in my campervan - all cleaned and the bed freshly made up. Test run for a trip to France next year. Ddogs snoring. Mid 50’s

Lizzy7596 · 01/08/2025 21:17

Sitting at home with a bottle Rose wine watching 80s music on YouTube .
Husband in kitchen making us some chicken wraps.

YetanotherNC25 · 01/08/2025 21:23

Mid 40’s sitting in my living room in peace watching a rather good new series. Wondering how much longer DD will be in the shower after coming back from being at her dad’s for a week, where hygiene is apparently optional. We’ve had a lovely curry and I’m enjoying my favourite beer in a branded glass.

Anonomoso · 01/08/2025 21:23

Just finished putting everytback after having clean the fridge....should really start the ironing but that can wait.

Will have a quick look on Rightmove to see if my dream home has appeared since I last looked, yesterday, then off to shower and lay in bed pondering on my day.

cofffeeee · 01/08/2025 21:24

Im 38 not long got home from spending a few days with my adult son at the beach.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 01/08/2025 21:25

61, at home in Lancashire. Just been in the back garden playing with our overgrown puppy before she settles for the night.
I should be trying to read, but I have very high anxiety at the moment and finding it difficult to concentrate. I might put my pyjamas on and just settle myself on the sofa with a mug of tea.

limescale · 01/08/2025 21:29

Having a flop on sofa before clearing dinner and house (general tidy).
DS1 in his room watching Churchill documentary.
I need to apply for jobs but I’m worn out with it so am trying to give myself an evening off.

Will have an orange and some cantaloupe while rewatching Maid later.
I am v tired, not sleeping well due to redundancy concerns.

Dangermoo · 01/08/2025 21:29

54, lying in bed, doomscrolling. Have had a nice easy day, as I've just moved house and I'm absolutely shattered.

Early 40s. Partner has popped to his friends house to do some boxing.

I'm sat at home, music on, drinking one of his beers and playing Fall Guys on the PlayStation. Bliss! 😅
