Nurses pay rise

Greenfood · 31/07/2025 17:22

I've seen today that the nurses have said their pay rise is not acceptable.

I just feel think they're being unreasonable. They have great sick pay, holiday pay, maternity pay etc.

Plus anecdotal evidence shows they are not caring, they sit at the desk not snowed under.

Am I being unreasonable to think the public are not behind them and they're wasting their time?

Worst attempt at goading ever.

Not goady, just feel they get enough whereas us in the care sector get overlooked time and time again. It's frustrating

You have no idea 🤦🏻‍♀️

You're right, I'm a senior carer in a nursing home. Similar though

Feel free to train as a nurse , then you can put your feet up and get all the benefits .

x2boys · 31/07/2025 17:28

Yes every single nurse is uncaring 🙄🙄🙄
As for sitting at desks ,when I was a nurse I couldn't get away from the sodding desk with the huge amount of paperwork,to do if it's not documented it didn't happen we were often told.

Absolutely not.

Whaleandsnail6 · 31/07/2025 17:29

🙄🙄🙄

This has got to be a goady joke post.

Or op, train 3 years to be a nurse and then come and work with me

Will be a lovely eye opener for you and you can judge just how much you deserve the money.

I agree with your second post about care staff wages...they deserve a huge increase but thats a separate issue.

its no easy picnic being a nurse and having all the responsibility and accountability that comes with running a ward

It's absolutely not the same whilst carers do an invaluable job you are not at risk of losing your PIN or accountable to a governing body.

They have student loans to repay, carers don't.

Carers don't have to train for 3 years either, or pay a 3-figure annual registration fee.

And carers don't have a national pay scale. Maybe they should start their own union, and negotiate collectively for better pay.

Well if you have seen first hand how "easy nurses" have it, do the training and take a nurse job instead of sitting here whining.

SheSmellsSeaShells · 31/07/2025 17:32

Carers get a really shit deal. Why don’t carers go on strike for better pay and conditions? It’s not a race to the bottom, nurses are highly qualified and deserve more. It’s awful that the government give different pay rises to different groups of public sector employees just to stir up problems.

Littlemisscapable · 31/07/2025 17:32

Nice try

Boomer55 · 31/07/2025 17:32

Some nurses are wonderful . Some are most certainly not.

The Covid-style crap, of them all being angels, was laughable.

Wingedharpy · 31/07/2025 17:32

😂😂😂You are so right OP - of course you are.
They should actually pay the patients for the privilege of looking after them and dealing with their polite, respectful, undemanding visitors.

burntoutnurse · 31/07/2025 17:34
  1. nurses are educated to degree level. Carers are not.
  2. not all nurses sit behind a desk all day dossing about. I generally do about 15k steps on my 13 hour shifts, if I do manage to get a 15 min break, often I don’t. Then I have to do an extra FREE shift every 6 weeks to make up for my breaks.
  3. 3.6% is not enough. It is not inline with inflation.
  4. you should train to be a nurse. See how it really is.
MissMoneyFairy · 31/07/2025 17:35

Do you seriously think your job responsibility and accountability are similar to a registered nurse, can you link the anecdotal evidence proving nurses just sit at a desk. Hca in the NHS get the same benefits as nurses, have you thought about applying for a band 3.

burntoutnurse · 31/07/2025 17:36

Carers are often employed in the private sector. I’ve said this time and time again. If you want holiday pay, sick pay. Work for the public sector 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's absolutely not the same whilst carers do an invaluable job you are not at risk of losing your PIN or accountable to a governing body.

So sick of nurses making out like they have the hardest job in the world, but this is a new low even for them, to stand on carers to give themselves a boost. Their superiority and great importance is not anything to do with patient care, any sort of valuable skillset, or anything else (because deep down they know they're not actually doing any of that most of the time and leave it to carers and HCAs). It's all about the bloody PIN. 🙄
We all know who really looks after us and our relatives on the wards. Can't see a nurse for dust in most hospitals, they just sit chatting on desks while doctors and carers do the proper work.

Matzoballs · 31/07/2025 17:58

Strike and demand what you deserve then.
