Appropriate wedding attire?

I know it takes a while for pictures to show up because they need to be approved, but when it does…
Do we think it would be OK to wear this dress to a wedding (as a guest - brother getting married)?
TIA

Is this a reverse?

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 30/07/2025 09:17

Unless you have received instructions that you should wear white, absolutely not.

KimberleyClark · 30/07/2025 09:17

It looks like a wedding dress? Absolutely not appropriate.

FilthyforFirth · 30/07/2025 09:18

Why would you wear white? Do you dislike the bride/like attention, good or bad?

Smallchangebigstep · 30/07/2025 09:19

I'm not a wedding expert OP but even I thought this must be a wind-up when I saw the photo!

Simonjt · 30/07/2025 09:19

Hi Alexis, no, you shouldn’t wear a white floor length gown to your brothers wedding.

SweetFancyMoses · 30/07/2025 09:19

Unless the wearer is getting married to the brother, no.

Dearg · 30/07/2025 09:20

I assume you don’t like your SIL?

Of course you cannot wear that dress, unless you can get it in a different colour.

Missmarplesknittingbuddy · 30/07/2025 09:20

@Pomtoo , are you thinking of accessorising with a veil too ? .
Obviously completely inappropriate and almost certainly a reverse .

RachelsPeeves · 30/07/2025 09:20

🤣🤣🤣

No. HTH

CommissarySushi · 30/07/2025 09:22

What's your logic for thinking this would be okay??

Assuming this isn't a wind up.

Tbh I think it would look too bridesmaidy in virtually any other colour.

I think rather than a veil it comes with a white tulle headdress

Helpmeplease2025 · 30/07/2025 09:24

Good one, OP

You beat me to it .😂 i wonder if it came with a "head piece"

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 30/07/2025 09:24

Obviously one of these "I'm bored and want attention" posts 🙄

spoonbillstretford · 30/07/2025 09:24

I'm not of the view that wearing white or ivory is a problem generally but this looks very bridal. In a darker colour or with a pattern it would be fine.

Who's Alex's?

Piggywinks · 30/07/2025 09:26

I wouldn’t even go to the wedding if I was you to be honest, it’s obvious from the choice of dress that you don’t like the bride. Stay away, let her have her day.

Pomtoo · 30/07/2025 09:26

Haha, first response got it in one!

SIL turned up at our wedding wearing this dress two weeks ago. It was a small destination wedding and several strangers we met assumed she was the bride.

MIL now has her FB profile picture as her, her DH, her DS (my DH), her DD (the wannabe bride) and it looks like the siblings are bride and groom!

SIL is married and is a wedding photographer, so it’s not like she’s ignorant to wedding etiquette!

Stay clear of her then! She doesn’t like you.

Is your SIL hostile or just a dumbass?

No she is just ignorant plain and simple if she thought upstaging the bride was the way to go.
