To think Evri treat deliveries like a paper round?

MyAmusedOpalCrab · 28/07/2025 16:49

They barely slow down, chuck the parcel somewhere near the door, and vanish without even ringing the bell. At this point, I half expect them to launch it from the street. Is it just me or has delivery service become completely hopeless?

Not my Evri delivery driver. He’s delivered for almost two years. Always asks how I am, regularly asks about my children and every now and then we have a proper chat. He’s great.

CherryYellowCouch · 28/07/2025 16:52

Our Evri delivery chap is awesome.

afaloren · 28/07/2025 16:53

My Evri driver is great. I do think it depends on the driver tho because before we moved here my heart used to sink when I saw the delivery method was Hermes, which was what they used to be called.

DiscoBob · 28/07/2025 16:54

I think it depends where you live. If you've got big long drives I reckon they often CBA or are under too much pressure so do chuck stuff.

But it doesn't happen in my area where the road is really close to the doors. They do sometimes knock and run or barely knock and run.

My mates who live in blocks say it often will just get put by the front main door. Where about 500 people have access. So not great.

But I think it's more the fact they're given too heavy a workload for not enough pay. It must be a horrible job.

Redglitter · 28/07/2025 16:55

My Evri driver is the only one who doesn't do all that. He rings the bell, waits for me to either open it or speak via my Ring Doorbell. If im not home hell leave the parcel at my kitchen door

Hes fab

SylvanianFamiliesBalcony · 28/07/2025 16:57

Not ours. He's fab. Every delivery, I make sure to leave a five start review as I know it goes a long way for them. Always polite, punctual, follows requests to the letter. I actually breathe a sign of relief when I see a delivery is with Evri!

Happyher · 28/07/2025 17:07

My Evri driver is fine too. Same one for about 3 years. It does help,if you have a regular drive I think. Is parking difficult where you live?

Murdoch1949 · 28/07/2025 17:08

How apt. Firstly my EVRI delivery guy is wonderful. But I've just sent a parcel to my granddaughters and been notified that it's been damaged beyond repair. I had very securely packaged it. It was a 5 kg parcel, so took great care with it. Evri have obviously been rough with it then got sight of what was inside and thought I'll have that. Inside were 3 lovely Waitrose butterfly shopping bags, each full of treats for my adult granddaughters. I'd insured it but .... I've now done a click & collect for them at their local Waitrose for tomorrow afternoon (I'm 160 miles away). Fewmin

Parking’s not an issue, I think some just treat it as speed over care. I don’t expect a red carpet, just a knock and the parcel not flung like a discus.

My Evri driver is lovely. He waits knowing we had a baby, now a toddler and a special needs child (have to lock us in from the inside , keys hidden so he can’t unlock the door and run out) so it takes us a few extra seconds to get to the door.

Someone different recently dropped off a package and he was lovely too. Often see the same people delivering from different delivery services in our area so you recognise them after awhile.

AhBiscuits · 28/07/2025 17:33

I had to put a sign on our food bin because our Evri driver kept leaving parcels in there! The food bin is fucking rank.

SEmyarse · 28/07/2025 17:36

I'm astonished there's many positive experiences left tbh. Most of us have had cuts of 30 to 40 percent this year. I still try to give good service, but I'm definitely more slapdash than I used to be.

MidnightPatrol · 28/07/2025 17:36

We must have the same EVRI driver OP!

Never knocks, just drops the parcel and runs. No attempt to conceal it.

I live in central London, amazed they don’t go missing. A lot of the street WhatsApp group is people asking for parcels to be rescued, knowing it won’t be there in 7 hours when they get back from work!

FrostiesAreCornflakesForPeopleWhoCantFaceReality · 28/07/2025 17:36

My local Evri dude is ok. Yodel on the other hand, fucking hell.

DeLaRuiz · 28/07/2025 17:38

Evri is crap where I am, too. Chuck the parcel in the vicinity of the address and scarper instantly. Hopeless.

underseige05 · 28/07/2025 17:42

Not mine she's amazing. Always rings the bell and if I'm not in leaves it in our safe place

SleepWalkingtoSeville · 28/07/2025 17:44

Evri drivers are self employed and paid per parcel delivered. This is between 30p and £1 per parcel, looking at Reddit. They don’t get anything for parking, fuel or vehicle wear and tear. So you can see why they need to get deliveries done as quickly as possible. The app they have to use is also shite.

TheNightingalesStarling · 28/07/2025 17:44

Our Evri guy is great too.

He hasn't...
Left a parcel of school uniform (in branded packaging) on the doorstep in full view (DPD)
Demolished a fence (Amazon)
Written off a neighbours car (different Amazon driver!)
Put parcels in the bin (Royal Mail)

SleepWalkingtoSeville · 28/07/2025 17:44

(That said, if you give them a tip at Christmas, you find your deliveries are much better…)

Howdoidoit100 · 28/07/2025 17:48

I watched a parcel wrapped with 'fragile' parcel tape fly over the top of my fence. They could have at least opened the gate and walked to the door.

EfficientWordsmith · 28/07/2025 17:48

My evri driver chucks my parcel on the porch and is gone in a flash.

Tarkan · 28/07/2025 18:13

We’re hoping our usual guy is on holiday as the recent replacement has been horrendous. A friend had 5 parcels stolen from her doorstep because of him and we only avoided having the same issue because we were at least at home when the guy just abandoned the deliveries at the front door without even a knock. If our old guy doesn’t come back soon we might have to avoid anyone that uses Evri it’s that bad.

A recent short, humorous and informative video I watched which some of the more disgruntled particularly may be interested in 🙃

I ❤️ evri and our delivery lady always takes a photograph, very reliable and also get the updates that are always on track and accurate

GulliaumeDuc · 28/07/2025 18:22

I’m thinking of putting my Evri driver down as my next of kin. It’s a daily regret of mine that I didn’t name DD after him.
