Rainfall shower

I have just checked into an Airbnb. It’s lovely but just has a rainfall shower head, no side attachment. AIBU to think that this makes showering without hair washing, washing intimately and cleaning the shower impossible?! I have seen this before and found it annoying but obviously didn’t look closely enough at the listing!!

OP posts:

OP didn’t say internally. She said intimately. 😂

Another shortarse here who doesn’t wash her hair everyday and doesn’t like rain showers. Only the men use rain shower here.

No, second post down says she “doesn’t wash internally”

which begs the question, who does?

77Fee · 28/07/2025 17:04

So much easier to shave your legs and your pubes if you can detach the shower head. I like to flush away the soap and shavings and a rainwater shower literally does not hit the mark ( i have boobs & tum in the way ).

MrsMoastyToasty · 28/07/2025 17:09

I don't like rainfall showers either. DH jokes that I would have to do a handstand in the shower cubicle to wash my undercarriage.

TerrierCollector · 28/07/2025 17:10

I can use my rainfall shower without getting my hair wet but it does involve one weird contortions.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 28/07/2025 17:10

We have one and it's easy enough to wash properly and wash without getting my hair wet

See I find the opposite. Rainfall showers provide enough water flow to rinse easily.

no way could I hold a shower head, and shave at the same time.

noworklifebalance · 28/07/2025 17:21

I love our rainfall shower but I always always always wear a shower cap whatever the type of shower, as it frizzes easily (unless washing my hair obvs)

MiddleAgedDread · 28/07/2025 17:26

YANBU they’re terrible! Never found one with good water pressure, impossible to have a shower if you don’t want to wash your hair and I have no idea how you clean them! Totally style over substance.

I've never used a rainfall shower that doesn't have good water pressure. That's part of the beauty of it for me, because it's like you're standing under a torrential downpour! If I had come across a rainfall shower with bad water pressure I might not be such a fan.

In my experience men use the rainfall shower, women use the other detachment.

where in our house its me who uses the rain head and himself uses the smaller one. love the rain head and helps washing hair so easy

WolfFoxHare · 28/07/2025 18:45

We have a rainfall only shower head in the en-suite - DH showers in there, I shower in the main bathroom with the directional head. We’re redoing both bathrooms this year and the rainfall shower head is toast.

My reasons for hating it are different though - I’m so short that it’s basically mist by the time it hits my head so I find rinsing my hair more difficult - and we have a power shower with good pressure. Also it seems to generate more steam at my head height which isn’t great for my asthma. I don’t have any problem washing my ‘intimate areas’ though!

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 28/07/2025 18:47

It’s an Airbnb, you’re not moving in 🤣 put a shower cap on.

MarriedinMaui · 28/07/2025 18:48

I agree. Need a movable and detachable one too. So many showers are badly designed. Also the ones with nowhere to put your bottles, and nowhere to shave your legs. I like a little low shelf or step I can put my foot on to shave my legs and a nice high shelf that stays dry for my radio and the soap.

YANBU! My ils have a rainfall shower and it’s rubbish. They have the other attachment too but that’s attached to the wall at about boob height and sprays horizontally. You can hold it and direct it, obviously - but then you can’t use both hands to wash yourself. I’m supposed to be impressed by it because it cost them a lot of money 🙄

I have the same. I wash with two hands under the overhead shower, then switch to the hand held one to rinse myself off properly.

olympicsrock · 28/07/2025 19:03

I live a rainfall shower - need a shower cap though

PluckyChancer · 28/07/2025 19:07

I’m short and love my rainfall shower head and I use the shower daily.

We have them in both bathrooms and they both have the extra head attachment that you can pull out and use it to clean down the shower walls and door but I rarely bother with it. Do posters really aim the smaller shower head at their nether regions? 🤔

summertimeinLondon · 28/07/2025 19:11

Mustbethat · 28/07/2025 16:34

I like them.

don’t want to wash my hair, tie it up and don’t put my head under.

washing internally? Who does that? I can wash everywhere fine.

shampoo in eyes? Never had that. You’re doing it wrong 😂

I do have a separate detachable head, mainly for when the dog needs a shower 😂

I don’t wash “internally” and I bet the posters up thread don’t either! But I do want to give the outside of my vulva and my bum crack a good wash and proper rinse which you can’t easily do without a handheld shower attachment. I use fragrance-free soap/shower gel as my skin is really reactive, especially on the undercarriage, so I really like to make sure any suds are properly rinsed off! (That includes shampoo suds that slide down your back - they can also make the skin on more intimate areas itchy).

I also like to rinse my hair really well, and a rainfall shower doesn’t always do that, unless you’re standing under there unable to see for ages — or ever, if there’s bad water pressure!

I thoroughly agree with you @holaquetal OP, and after a few bad holiday home experiences I end up scrutinising the pics of the bathroom really closely to ensure there’s a handheld attachment!!

But surely if you’re not washing your hair you then end up with a massive crick in your neck?

summertimeinLondon · 28/07/2025 19:18

Oh and for those who don’t find it difficult to wash the undercarriage in a rainfall shower — try being short and chubby, because you have to do literal contortions to rinse the old downstairs department. I always feel itchy afterwards because you can’t quite ensure you’re getting a really thorough rinse.

There are itchy bum and itchy vulva conditions (“pruritus ani” and “pruritus vulvae”) which can quite literally be caused by shampoo or soap suds that haven’t been properly rinsed away 😆

Bruisername · 28/07/2025 19:24

I love mine and have them in all out bathrooms but also have a detachable head which is used for cleaning the shower mainly

i also like a shower head with hose on the bath

in some countries they have a detachable shower head by the toilet(instead of a bidet I assume) but I drew the line at having that many shower heads in the house

PrincessSakura · 28/07/2025 19:29

I’m one of the minority’s that love a rainfall shower!
I love to stand under it and let the heat relax my muscles for a while, I wash my hair every-time I shower anyway and never have any issues washing intimate areas. It does have a detachable smaller shower head but I only use that for cleaning the shower or the dog!

TubeScreamer · 28/07/2025 19:29

I love my rainfall shower. Anything else feels inadequate by comparison.

TheCurious0range · 28/07/2025 19:33

I love our rainfall shower, we have good water pressure though and it's easy to keep hair dry if needed, I'd imagine that's difficult in a smaller shower cubicle. I only use the smaller attachment to clean the bath and shower and to wash DS' hair when he's in the bath

RampantIvy · 28/07/2025 19:34

Unless I am washing my hair I always use a shower cap. Why don't more people use them?

Just been to check the shower in the hotel I am staying in and it has a rainfall shower. It also has a small hand held one.

The only thing is I will have to get in it to turn it on and it will be cold when it first runs.

I’ve got very short hair so I wash it every day, but I imagine it’s a pain in the backside if you don’t want to get your hair wet.
