Angry men about womens football

I was listening to talk radio and there was a very angry man on ranting away about womens football. He was basically saying put it on a different channel. Noone wants to watch, even his wife agrees. He was out of breath he was that mad. I was quite taken aback. Far enough if you dont like it, dont watch. Why on earth he was this upset I dont know! Whats with this disgusting reaction! How weird!!

It's very telling that some women are so desperate for male approval that they give some inconsequential pub bore airtime. If a woman went on the radio and said men's football was crap and they should have their own channel, no one would listen to her.

This caller has no sense of irony whatsoever - he is complaining about how unbearable he finds it to have women's football/women commentators with their awful voices all over the the TV when there are plenty of people no doubt who have felt like that about men's football for decades!

The difference between the England men’s team and the Women’s team is very simple to sum up - the Women are WINNING.

A lot of men who 'love football' have no idea of the history. Women's football was banned in 1921. It took off massively during the war and outsold the men's game. It was not reinstated until 1971!

No wonder the lionesses are so bloody determined. I recommend a listen to Jill Scott's Desert Island Discs for a taste of just how determined and dedicated she had to be.

England men’s football is shite! They never win. They might have got to finals a couple of times with Gareth Southgate but they still lost at end of day, no prizes for coming second, they’re never the best. Not like the Lionesses.

The women's team aren't better than the men's team. In a head to head they would lose.

But that is totally pointless comparison to make as men and women are physically different. It's why sports are separated by sex.

The women's team are more successful than the men's. The grit and determination to come back from losing positions in all 3 knock out games was immense. They are a great, successful team.

I’m a big football fan and I really think they’re almost two different sports. The Lionesses have done brilliantly and deserve all the headlines and plaudits but the game simply won’t develop and progress until it builds its own image. All this nonsense about Chloe Kelly being the best player in England is ridiculous, stop trying to compare her to men’s football, it doesn’t help her. The women's game needs to be its own thing. It’s so different, less athletic, the players aren’t as technical (yet), the ball moves slower and sometimes it can be a bit calamitous. There’s nothing wrong with any of those things but when people try to compare it they’re even more obvious.

YOU don't know if the women would lose. Football is not all about strength, it's about skill. Also, just because the menz are physically stronger, that doesn't make them automatically better at playing football.

The men’s team would annihilate the women’s team, which is why they don’t play each other. There’s been some interesting articles about why senior women’s teams play younger male teams in friendlies, I think it’s the under 15/15 age group they play.

Football is about skill, strength, speed. The women's team have the skills to match the mens team. But they don't have the physical strength and speed which means they would lose.

But it really doesn't matter.

It was a great victory for the Lionesses, they were amazing and showed great determination to never give up.

It's possible to celebrate this victory without comparing the players to men. Just celebrate their achievements.

Yes, without a doubt. The Swiss National team lost 7-1 to the Lucerne under 15s boys team pre tournament. It caused the usual hilarity about the women’s game but there’s some good articles on why they play against that age. Like it or not the top level male players are bigger, faster, stronger and more technical. Constantly comparing the two will only damage the women’s game.

They would and that’s okay. I’d expect male athletes to be stronger and faster than female athletes.
We shouldn’t be comparing them like for like. They are different versions of the same game.

Rather than viewing the lionesses achievements in comparison to men we should just be celebrating their accomplishments in their own right.

I must admit I find it amusing that these petty, pathetic little men are so full of rage. They absolutely hate the fact that the women's game is getting so much attention (and about time), is enjoying some seriously high viewing figures and above all, is outclassing the men's football with the way they carry themselves. Their flimsy attempt to mask their deep rooted misogyny is to hark on about the poor quality in comparison to the men's game. Well, duh, pretty sure everyone knows the basic physical differences between the sexes hence why we have the separation in the first place! It's hilarious to see these men babies in full flow. Just hope they aren't fathers to girls.
