To ask if anyone has seen ufo, ghost, fae?

I am curious if anybody here has seen any of these things , such as UFO or a ghost or what can be known as “fae”? I have once seen lights in the sky which could have been the Chinese lanterns, but I am open minded and interested in this subject

And I would suggest that you are quite nasty.

Op was recalling her personal experience.

She was there. Not you. You have no way of telling what really happened.

You have a very closed mind. That’s nothing to be boastful about.

How is it open-minded to shut the door on a rational explanation?

She will not listen to the rational explanation - a small child said a thing that she rationalised as some kind of prophecy or telepathy or somehow beyond the ordinary but was actually just a small child saying a thing. How can it be open-minded to dismiss that?

It’s arrogant to believe that you are so special that it is more likely that actual magic is happening to you than you might be mistaken about something. The height of arrogance and self-regard.

It’s happening to you too. You just choose not to see it.

I love a woo thread, it’s a shame that a couple of PPs who clearly don’t have any interesting stories or experiences to share have found and derailed this one so viciously.

I remember being 14, so in 1984. Absolutely convinced at the time, and still now that I saw a UFO. 3 red lights in the sky flew together from right to left at what seemed to be an impossible speed and distance. So so fast. Haven't seen any ghosts but have been a nurse for nearly 40 years and have had a few strange incidents over that time which have definitely given me cause to. wonder. Most recently about a year ago I was just dozing off and felt the most incredible feeling ever. It started in my head and really slowly move down through my body. It felt like I was being filled with the most wonderful, purest form of love ever. I had tears of happiness streaming from my eyes, and I categorically knew it was my Dad. I didn't know such a feeling could ever exist.

I had a similar thing happen a few days after my sister died...although it felt as if she was filling my body with strength. I don't think she realised how much I was struggling when she was alive.

I grew up in a haunted house. It was actually exorcised by the previous owners but clearly didn’t work. We had a regular 10pm ‘visitor’ as a family we saw it every night, but so did any guests who happened to be staying. I had school mates who refused to have another sleepover again, my WW2 fighting, eminently sensible, Grandfather saw it every time he visited. DH, who doesn’t believe in ghosts, saw about 3 of them first time he came to stay - 25 yrs later he still maintains he saw ghosts. It actually became really quite normal - although I don’t really believe in them either. I’d love to know what the fuck was going on in that house though. We saw some weird shit on a daily basis.

So did we. Day and night, saw them, heard their footsteps. One even touched my grandad. He was seriously spooked. So if you're ever in Cranbrook, Stone Street, keep your eyes open. It's a shop with Airbnb above these days.

UFO. Now that did rattle me. Was walking along the lane, hedge on the left, fields on the other side around 8pm. 30 years ago. Everything seemed to go silent. I looked up there was just blackness a complete absence of light. Then it was gone. I scurried home very fast.

Now thinking logically we're used to the air base flying all sorts over our area so it's conceivable that it was some hovering prototype. Who knows.

I had an encounter with a ghost just the other week. And I was 100% someone who firmly didn’t believe in such things, thought because there was no scientific proof they couldn’t possibly be real etc. Anyway, I had an encounter which to my mind can not be explained by a ghost and now I am a full believer!!!

In my old house, whenever I was in the bathroom I could hear a baby crying. I knew that no-one in the vicinity had babies. The rest of the family could never hear anything. Until my XDP did. He came out of the bathroom shaking. I can also smell my Grandmothers powder compact (very distinctive aroma) during stressful times

I mean, it’s not a terribly clever way to have a conversation to distort the meanings of perfectly ordinary words. There are plenty of clear, commonly understood definitions of what a ghost is. Here’s Oxford Dictionaries:

An apparition of a dead person which is believed to appear or become manifest to the living, typically as a nebulous image.

Or how about Collins:

the spirit of a dead person, sometimes represented as a pale, almosttransparent image of that person that some people believe appears to peoplewho are alive

Or Longmans:

the spirit of a dead person that some people think they can feel or see in a place.

It’s disingenuous to pretend that these are some nebulous concept like intuition. They are not merely a memory or a concept of a dead person. They are the claim of a visual, aural or physical manifestation of the dead.

I am not dismissing people’s experiences. I am dismissing their ghostly explanations of their experiences. What they are experiencing are not ghosts.

A word like “love” has multiple definitions depending on context. The Oxford Dictionary defines it as a strong feeling of affection, a deep romantic attachment, or even a great interest in something. Language isn’t always one size fits all, people often use familiar words to describe complex experiences.

Saw a ghost at castle museum York 27 years ago.

I had to do that in a room at Warwick castle. Awful feeling

Friend at Oxford university had a feeling of dread entering his rooms. Couldn't shake it off. Found out eventually that a previous student had hung themselves there just outside the door entrance.

Yes, and people use the word “ghost” to mean what we all agree “ghost” means. “The spirit of a dead person that some people think they can feel or see in a place.”

That’s the claim they are making when they talk about ghosts. A supernatural presence of a dead person. That’s what a ghost is.

I need to be vague because Ive told people irl. Id love a logical explanation for it.

We were abroad and got lost once. We walked on a narrow path along the side of a building for hours (not exagerrating). The building was completely straight. It was huge. Maybe 8 men walked the opposite way on this path at various times by themselves. They weren't dressed particularly modernly but not hugely old fashioned either if that makes sense eg they were wearing flat caps. None of them looked at us or made any effort to move so we could all stay on the path. It was like we werent there. Apart from one who looked directly at me, looked a bit shocked and walked quickly away. We eventually got to a row of buildings that looked like they'd been recently bombed (the place had never been bombed or experienced a bombing). We got freaked out and turned back at that point. Followed the path back (didnt see anyone else) and eventually ended up back where we started. We found a nearby coffee shop to rest.

My partner is excellent at directions. He has inner magnets or something. He can look at a map and see it in 3d even if he's never been somewhere before. After the coffee we decided to go back to this building. We couldn't find it. We couldnt find it on any maps. The hotel staff didnt have a clue what we were talking about. Pre-smart phone/easy access Google/phone cameras but we've sporadically googled it since but have never found any evidence of it.

I actually wrote it all down the evening that it happened so I had it fresh in my mind to look up when we got back home. Ive still got it somewhere.

Neither of us are woo but it made us both very uneasy and still gives me the heebiejeebies. Something just wasnt right. My partner joked that maybe we were the ghosts. It wasnt funny. 🤣

JuniperJuly · 28/07/2025 23:15

Just to add, Im always getting lost even where Ive lived for 20 years so that wasnt what set my spiddy senses off.

Mobile phones have been around a long time now, as have Ring cameras and household video cameras. You'd think there would be ghost videos of phenomenon all over tikTok....

100% this. ^ I have experienced some things - out of the ordinary - but I am not going to tell on here, just to have the fucking piss ripped out of me by the goady, mocking naysayers!

Us 'believers' don't take the piss out of the negative non-believers. WTF is wrong with them?! Just live and let live, let people have their beliefs, and stop being so nasty to people!

I used to live right by the start of a range of hills in North Wales (still do but I’ve moved further down now) and I’m convinced I saw something one evening, 20 years ago about 9 ish just after I’d put my kids to bed. I could see the hills from my bed and they were quite remote and pitch black and just above the skyline at the top there was a large orange ball moving slowly from side to side for quite a while. It was dark so stood out. It flew if really quickly as I was looking at it,

also same hill, me and my ds were driving home one night via a short cut that took us down a country lane at the foot of the hill where something large overhead started following us, no noise just some bright lights. We shit ourselves and I floored it and it just kept following us for miles, it wasn’t a helicopter, nor a drone, it was utterly silent. Then just disappeared.

this was 10 years ago and my ds was then 16.

Ive had a few other weird things happen on the same road, close to where this happened and I won’t drive down there anymore at night!
