To ask if anyone has seen ufo, ghost, fae?

Morecoombe · 26/07/2025 22:07

I am curious if anybody here has seen any of these things , such as UFO or a ghost or what can be known as “fae”? I have once seen lights in the sky which could have been the Chinese lanterns, but I am open minded and interested in this subject

That’s what hearing things feels like. Hallucinations seem real.

Ok, explain the extraordinary unlikely coincidence of the scenario I explained then. It would be bizarre timing.

Maybe it was just bizarre timing. That’s what co-incidence is. We attribute meaning to the things that have no meaning.

It doesn't really matter to me what other people think. The OP asked for experiences and those were mine. They are occasional things that have happened over many years.

This. ^ Why do people have to shit all over peoples lived experiences? Like 'no you didn't see that, because it doesn't exist LOLOLOLOLOL!!!' Like, how dare people tell other people what they did - or did not see?! (Or hear!) Hmm

Stuff like...

There's no such thing as ghosts.

There's no such thing as the paranomal.

There's no such thing as Angels.

There's no such thing as God.

Running like wildfire to threads about things they don't believe in, so they can shit all over peoples beliefs and experiences, and take the piss - (and why do they think people CARE about their opinions?! )🙄

If you don't believe, then why are you on the thread? Just so you can mock and deride?!

We see you. 👀

Yeah, and spoon-bending is psychic and the pyramids were built by spacemen…

This is just modern-day von Daniken or Geller.

The greatest shame on threads like these are people who position themselves as the resident sceptic, shitting on people’s experiences. It’s always the same, and really drags these threads down.

Yeah, I just came here to see what experiences people were talking about and there are several posts really going for the jugular. Fine, you don’t believe, but fgs piss off and stop with the bitchiness!

She didn’t ask for experiences. She asked if you had ever seen a ghost or a fairy. You haven’t because there aren’t any.

The same way I know dogs can’t fly and the tooth fairy isn’t real. A lack of convincing evidence.

I’ve seen a UFO - it was a bright sunny day and I was at school. Myself and a friend were outside in the playground, for some reason we were the only ones there, I think we were delaying going in after break. Anyway we looked up at the sky and noticed that a second sun had appeared alongside the existing one. It hovered there for a while then suddenly shot off horizontally at speed. During the time it was hovering everything went strangely dark and quiet - like all the birds stopped singing, a very odd and menacing feeling. As soon as it had gone we ran back inside, feeling very unsettled and scared.

I don’t want people to be taken in by charlatans. And the more we accept the unexplained without question the more this is going to happen.

@MasterBeth There isn’t actually a clear definition of what a ghost is, which makes shouting "they don’t exist” - with your banana in your hand, a bit pointless, when it hasn’t even been agreed on what you’re denying.
There are plenty of other things that aren’t clearly defined but are still real parts of human experience like consciousness, love, intuition, or even time! Just because something hasn’t been pinned down by science yet doesn’t mean it should be ridiculed. Science evolves by staying curious, not by shutting people down.
You don’t have to believe in ghosts, but dismissing everyone else’s experiences as nonsense isn’t really the brightest way to have a conversation.

Openmouthinsertfood · 28/07/2025 21:41

CinnamonCinnabar · 28/07/2025 20:28

A lot of these are around the on/offset of sleep - well know time for confusional states or sleep phenomena- or people suddenly looking up into a bright sky - ideal way to create false images on your retina - or something out of the corner of your eye - classic for misperceptions on the edge of your visual field.
Visual misperceptions, sleep phenomena and retinal afterimages explain a lot of what people are describing here. Although in the case of the person with haunted bin bags and scratches I think you had rats and bedbugs.

No dtoppings, no nibbled items, and no blood on bedsheets. No being bitten in a row. I have the same mattress then as I do now. I don't get scratches now. The bed bugs decided to stay behind?!!!

I see ‘the hag of nightmares’ at least once a month and yep, she’s a ‘ghost’ caused by my stupid over active brain. I know what causes her, and how to deal with her but she’s still a hag of nightmares 😂😂😂😂😂

minerva7 · 28/07/2025 21:44

MasterBeth · 28/07/2025 13:02

The two things don’t align. My life doesn’t have to be boring for me to want to challenge nonsensical thinking.

Of course you don’t want anyone questioning your version of events. But you are proposing something extraordinary has happened to you. I would suggest it is quite boring, unquestioning, gullible people who would accept what you say at face value.

And I would suggest that you are quite nasty.

Op was recalling her personal experience.

She was there. Not you. You have no way of telling what really happened.

You have a very closed mind. That’s nothing to be boastful about.

That doesn’t begin to explain things that people have seen, and the following extensive cover ups that subsequently take place.

Something like the Pentyrch Incident.

I’ve seen plenty of moving “stars” in the sky whilst star watching that are not stars, don’t move like satellites, aren’t aeroplanes, don’t move like meteors, aren’t iridium flares. Things like that are seen regularly, but I’m not shouting UFO because I’m pretty sure there’s an explanation because so many people see them (on cameras, through binoculars etc, not just with eyes). The thing I did see though a few months ago doesn’t fit anything I’ve seen and explained in the sky.

There's aren't any - IN YOUR OPINION.

How supercilious and arrogant to assume you are right, and everyone who believes in things YOU don't believe in are all wrong. Have a word with yourself. You're embarrassing yourself. Wink

100% this. ^ I have experienced some things - out of the ordinary - but I am not going to tell on here, just to have the fucking piss ripped out of me by the goady, mocking naysayers!

Us 'believers' don't take the piss out of the negative non-believers. WTF is wrong with them?! Just live and let live, let people have their beliefs, and stop being so nasty to people!

My mum used to see this!
I always wonder why so many people see such similar things during sleep paralysis.

I read an account of some DMT studies which showed that people saw the same “beings”, some of whom asked about previous study cases by name. I find this kind of thing very interesting.

Londonrach1 · 28/07/2025 21:52

I've seen a fairy...a garden one...I was with two others at the time and they saw it too. Very strange but I know what I saw so fairy is fact to me now. Since then I've had one other person say they seen one too and agree it's fact. Had lots of friends laugh at me .... It was 10am and I saw it in good light.

But with respect, we’re all adults, we’re going to make up our own minds whether we are nannied or not. If someone’s open to being susceptible to charlatans they’re not going to suddenly change their mind because someone on MN spoke down to them about their beliefs.

You don’t have to believe in ghosts, but dismissing everyone else’s experiences as nonsense isn’t really the brightest way to have a conversation.

I mean, it’s not a terribly clever way to have a conversation to distort the meanings of perfectly ordinary words. There are plenty of clear, commonly understood definitions of what a ghost is. Here’s Oxford Dictionaries:

An apparition of a dead person which is believed to appear or become manifest to the living, typically as a nebulous image.

Or how about Collins:

the spirit of a dead person, sometimes represented as a pale, almosttransparent image of that person that some people believe appears to peoplewho are alive

Or Longmans:

the spirit of a dead person that some people think they can feel or see in a place.

It’s disingenuous to pretend that these are some nebulous concept like intuition. They are not merely a memory or a concept of a dead person. They are the claim of a visual, aural or physical manifestation of the dead.

I am not dismissing people’s experiences. I am dismissing their ghostly explanations of their experiences. What they are experiencing are not ghosts.

It’s arrogant to believe that you are so special that it is more likely that actual magic is happening to you than you might be mistaken about something. The height of arrogance and self-regard.

My mum and dad seen a UFO in the 70s.

They didn't tell anyone at the time in case people thought they were nuts, but my mum can remember it vividly to this day.

She's not woo whatsoever and does not exaggerate or embellish stuff, so I do believe her.
