Just that really!

YABU - no it shouldn’t be rigged, just random allocation who wins
YANBU - yes it should be rigged so the birthday child wins the main prize

Luckys dads rules definitely

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 22/07/2025 16:39

I’ve seen it rigged so that the birthday child won. That was a paid party organiser not the child’s parents. I’d have been extremely embarrassed in their shoes. I always wrap a little something between each layer, like stickers and sweets, and rig it so that every child gets at least something.

Snorlaxo · 22/07/2025 16:39

No - birthday child has presents.

DappledThings · 22/07/2025 16:40

No rigging at all. Lucky's dad's rules (as I am at least the third person to reference!)

DanglingMod · 22/07/2025 16:19

Rigged against the birthday child. I have never seen any other way.

Yes, this is what I've generally seen, on the perfectly valid grounds that the birthday child is overflowing with presents already.

Lucky's Dad's Rules.

How on earth did it take 21 posts before someone said it 😮this place is going to the dogs…

Should be rigged so birthday child doesn't win and everyone has at least one go.

Yes this

BernardButlersBra · 22/07/2025 16:44

No

Hottchoc · 22/07/2025 16:46

I used to be a kids party entertainer for a big company and were always told to stop it on the birthday child at the end
Sometimes you were a bit fast or slow hitting pause though so they didn't always get it

Should be rigged so birthday child doesn't win and everyone has at least one go.

Exactly this!

UnbotheredQueen · 22/07/2025 16:48

Lucky’s Dad’s rules in our house! Let chaos reign.

Dery · 22/07/2025 16:49

My mum always put a small prize in each layer (bookmark etc) so everyone got something and, no, the birthday child does not get the main prize.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 22/07/2025 17:03

As everyone else has said, it should be rigged so that every child gets a layer, and the birthday child should never win as they will have received plenty of gifts already.

PonkyPonky · 22/07/2025 17:05

I like Lucky’s Dad’s rules 🤣
If you’ve not seen this particular episode of Bluey, I highly recommend it!

YetAnotherNewNameAgain · 22/07/2025 16:17

If anything, it should be rigged against the birthday child getting the main prize.

absolutely this

The host should never get the main prize, whatever the party

Why do you ask?

This, exactly.

Lucky's Dad's Rules.

Yep. We’re raising a nation of squibs

Summerbay23 · 22/07/2025 17:09

Agree with everyone else. Birthday child should NOT win. But everyone should get a sweet or lolly in each layer.

Beachhutgirl · 22/07/2025 17:14

It should be rigged so that every child wins a small prize and opens a layer at least once. The final prize should not be rigged.

I also do it so that the final prize is not all that much bigger than the layers, so there is not very much difference between what everyone ends up with.

DancingNotDrowning · 22/07/2025 17:16

Yep rigged against the birthday child.

years ago we were at a party of a child from nursery and I noticed the parents were desperately trying to rig it so their DC won. At the time I thought it was odd. With the benefit of hindsight I think they had very little money and needed to keep the crayons and pencils ☹️

Biids · 22/07/2025 17:17

It should be rigged that each kid including birthday kid gets to take a layer of paper off and that the layer contains something little like a mini choc/sweet/sticker. Then the final round shouldn’t be rigged.

it seems crazy to rig it for the birthday child if they already have loads of presents

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/07/2025 17:18

It should be rigged so the birthday child never wins the big prize.

Kendodd · 22/07/2025 17:19

It should be rigged so that everyone, including birthday child get a turn. Then blind rigged so birthday child doesn't win main prize and random child does.

Hodgemollar · 22/07/2025 17:20

The opposite, the birthday child should not be wining the main present.

Jumpthewaves · 22/07/2025 17:21

No, the other way round, the birthday child should not win the main gift, one of their guests should.
